I wanted to ask if the xda team was planning to adapt ubuntu to our Mediapad!!!!!
you can always Chroot to Ubuntu or Debian with Linux Installer App
i've tried ubuntu on my mediapad. it calls androlinux. search for it. if not wrong the androlinux for asus tab that work on mediapad
I think he means Ubuntu Touch what was released 2-3 days ago. On official build more things don't work then works so I think port will be useless for now.

AW: [Q] Ubuntu for mediapad
Hi
The MediaPad is not jet listed on the Ubuntu wiki touch work_in_progess page. (can't post links yet, due to restrictions)
Maybe it could be helpful to add developers.

Hi,
I noticed that inside the Ubuntu touch browser your not able to view/watch videos from YouTube or other website.
Is there a way to fix that ?
Or maybe the devellopement is just not there yet?

The Ubuntu Touch web browser will not support Flash videos, but it should support any modern site that provides HTML5 videos.
However, HTML5 video support is still in development, but if you are interested you can track the progress in this bug report: launchpad.net/bugs/1197699 (sorry for the non-clickable link, I'm too new to XDA to be able to post links).
Hi, I just wondering if its planned to contact with Mozilla in order to try to get a version of Mozilla to ubuntu for phone and tablets, it would be great!
Nope . Inhouse browser webkit based. No more mozilla.

Mozilla's engineering efforts are probably too focused on their own phone OS at the moment to consider porting their browser to others.

Qml qt firefox
As I am aware of Mozilla already has a coded app for Firefox Meego
which has the same luanguge although not built in ubuntus sdk it does run in qt qml.
I can be simply ported in a matter of weeks but I doubt
Cannonical will do so for ubuntu touch and mozilla is focused on other more established.platforms ill ask around gplus and nokia forums maybe we can have community members help to port it
Why

when i type apt-get install firefox he install firefox but don't have any app and i didn't edit sources.list
Canonical is kicking off an app developer competition for Ubuntu Touch and the new Ubuntu SDK! It's a 6 week contest where you can build a new original app for Ubuntu Touch or port an exiting app from another platform. We have three Nexus 4 phones that will be given away as prizes, running Ubuntu Touch of course, and with the winning apps pre-installed on them.

Sorry, i don't really get it yet... Does it run entirely on android? If so, how does it differ from launchers? And can it run on other linux kernel, specifically a x64 one? I would like to have a touch-friendly linux on my tablet which i could dual-boot with windows 8.1 (x64 version, not RT) without using any virtualizing, emulating, or buggy workarounds like android-x86...

Can you suggest me a WM or a DE suitable for touch? I have tried kde active, but it launched into the regular kde
That's here and it's called Ubuntu Desktop Next. Basically the Ubuntu desktop with the phone and tablet UI.
Download link: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-desktop-next/daily-live/current/
Just wondering, is the current Ubuntu Touch supporting a full desktop when connected to a monitor like through an HDMI?
I saw videos from Ubuntu on this feature and wanted to know if it working?

It's not working yet. Canonical has proven that the concept can work by its Ubuntu for Android project. After the release of version 14.04 two weeks ago, they will start work on bringing Unity 8 (the desktop environment, current desktop version is 7 while the phone version is already Unity 8) and the Mir display server to the desktop. Afterwards, it should theoretically be possible to do that stuff. Additionally, they will continue to improve their SDK for the development of Ubuntu apps which already work on all platforms (phone, tablet and desktop) and adjust to screen size.
The whole concept is what they call Convergence.

Some of their ideas for convergence are quite awesome. The recent news has been that they have stopped the Ubuntu for Android project. I have been wondering since where their views on complete integration, their "one device to rule the all" direction, is heading.

It's great on both PC and mobile. However, on mobile it still has a long way to go until it reaches the state when it can be used by the average end-user. Keep in mind that it's making progress very fast though.
