By far this is the fastest phone I had, coming from a HTC Evo Lte from Sprint. But I'm hoping that HTC comes out with a 5.5" screen so I can go back, I never had any issues transferring all my pictures, videos, music, etc. There's is no plug and play with the note 2. I've downloaded the MTP kit from Microsoft and still nothing works, I really don't want to use the kies air app, I just want to plug and play.... Any suggestions that can make me fall in love with my note 2 again.... This is my first Samsung phone... :crying:
I can only use it as a camera not as a media devise ....
? Do you mean hooken it to the computer...none of my usb cords worked at first you have to use the stock one it came with...when I first got mine I was like wth I cant transfer anything then used the stock cable and bam poped up
You need to use the cable that came with the phone and you need to install the drivers for your phone. Once you get those in order you will be in business.
All I needed was the cable, my PC installed the driver automatically.
I will never understand why people immediately jump to "my NEW phone can't do this" before first finding out if they're doing something incorrectly.
Pool_shark,
Probably because it's a pain point. They are used to doing X and can't. They want X back.

Well it is a standard, and people expect them to work universally. It's almost as bad as proprietary cables. It sucks to buy multiple cables only to have to buy new cables for the next phone.

When I was unlocking the bootloader casual couldn't find my device.
It was time to troubleshoot. So I rebooted the phone to see if my PC could see the phone, it couldn't.
Guess what my next step was in troubleshooting, I switched cables, and boom, it worked.
My previous android devices could all use the same cables, but this one couldn't, yet I still thought the next best thing was to try the cable it came with.
Yeah I make it a point now to use the cable that the phone came with. Same thing happened with my Samsung Galaxy Nexus I couldn't get the phone to connect to the pc until my wife said, "Is that the cable the phone came with? You should use the cable the phone came with." I was thinking, oh hell no, that shouldn't be an issue. So when I did use the cable the effin phone hooked up quick style. So remember guys, listen to your wife. Lol

Go to Samsung's website and download the USB drivers for the Note 2. Oh hey, look at that, I linked it below for you:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCH-I605MSAVZW
Under Manuals/Downloads --> Click Software
After you install the drivers, connect your Note using your USB cable. If your Note doesn't show up on the computer as a removable hard drive, open up your Note with the USB cable still plugged in --> pull down your notifications bar --> select the USB "Connected as an Installer" option --> Check "Media device (MTP) option
Hope that helps.

People don't want to have to do work.
Most common example: All I used to do was plug in my iphone and it did it for me...

This is all I have ever done. Used those exact drivers on multiple computers, two at work and one at home. Works fine no matter what cable I use. In fact I have never used the factory cable.
I don't have to use the cable it came with, which is lucky since I bought it used without the cable.

LOL, no kidding......
ive never had any issue using any usb cable, I kinda find it hard to believe. My notes cable hasnt left its charger by my bed since It, I use an htc cable on my laptop, a old moto one on my xbmc box, and another random cable on my ps3.
seems kinda odd.
Still pretty upset with Samsung
OK Guys, I apologize if i hurt some feelings out there, but come on!... don't you think that for a flagship phone Samsung should make it easier for users ... by the way I tried the cable and it finally did all the drivers installs, but i still cant plug and play (it only hooks up as camera), now it tells me that i have a """"HARDWARE ID MISSING""""" after researching , I un-instal the newest driver , installed an old version 1.4 , 1.5 , etc, etc and STILL" no luck , I check on the USB connection as media device and it goes back to camera ... any new advice....

Dude I think this is user error. My wife is so computer illiterate and she still has no problems using her phone. By the way this is even her first smartphone. For the record both mine and hers we just plug in and started browsing the files. It was just plug and play.
For your problem, what os is your computer and I don't see it mentioned but are you stock still?

I jsut want to know if there is anything that can sniff/crack wifi's for the HTC.?
hmmm, not to do the work but this can scan networks and capture packets for another machine to analyse:
http://commview-for-wifi-ppc.download-528-16895.datapicks.com/
Work on it was discontinued a hiwle ago and I'm not sure how it'll run on WM6 and a Titan.

I don't want to do anything too wrong like snoop on people etc, I just want something I can use whilst at a bustop and log onto the local 7-11/esso/macks/subways etc wireless network and use internet.
That sounds like some fun stuff to kill time while waiting for transit...I just can't seem to find the CommView for WiFi PPC anywhere for download....Any luck anywhere else?
wififofum is a great wardriving software and it will tell you all the networks around and give you their signal strength and encryption type (if any). You might be able to at least find open networks this way....
WiFiFoFum is definitely the best out there right now for what you want.
Enjoy.
View attachment WiFiFoFum.CAB
Our phones dont support promiscuous mode which is that it wont alow us to capture random flying data. and all WiFiFoFum does is tell where a wifi hotspot is thats all. Best thing to do saddly is get a laptop with a wificard that can support promiscuous mode put on BackTrack Linux and then crack the password that way my friend and I wrote a program last year that cracks passwords but all it does it sends random passwords to the router which drains the battery to fast to even use the phone once cracked. I'll look for the program and post the CAB for it if i can find it.
He asked for a program for our phones that can sniff Wifi. That is exactly what WiFiFoFum does. Yes, it does not "crack" wifi, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which ones are open and which use security. Good luck trying to find a program for the Titan that can "crack" wifi passwords.
or one can just get a data package LOL

No comparison between the fun of cracking a wep and having to pay the man for a slower connx where my provider can tell what I am doing, give me the link for that cab dc13!!
Gcincotta you are probably right that no prog will crack those connections on its own, although wififofum radar is great for wardriving on all networks. I will continue to use backtrack when I am about and need to connect to whatever is closest.

I just got this and am using it, but I got an error that the titan's wifi doesn't support promiscuous mode.
Gcincotta or Carlos, is this true? FYI - I chose "IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter" for the adaptor to monitor.
Looked promising until I saw this message. Could this work as an "external" wifi card (if promiscuous mode is an option)?

I just revised the manual and this is what I found
" 2.1.2 Drivers
Once you have the appropriate hardware, you still need to ensure that your OS has
the right drivers to use that hardware. This can be a tricky part of getting a sniffer to work
properly, and it is why many sniffers either run on Unix based OSs, or require a special
driver to be installed before it will work in Windows.
In the case of the mobile Windows environment, most general-purpose local sniffers
will work with any WNIC without the need for a special driver or patch. Assuming your
WNIC is working before a sniffer is installed and the sniffer program is compatible with
your card, you will need no extra drivers. This said, if you want to perform wireless
sniffing, your sniffing will be limited. Currently there are no publicly available drivers
that make true promiscuous sniffing a reality for the Pocket PC. Instead, you will only
have access to networks with which your WNIC can associate, and then with only one at
a time. There are ways around this, but it would require you to purchase specialized
hardware and software costing several thousand dollars"
I personally haven't tested this on my XV6800 YET! But I am hoping to get it to work.
Sweet. That sounds friggin beautiful.

Here's the deal with the Titan. Even though Airscanner has promiscuous (monitor) mode, the Titan Wifi hardware does not support it. It only supports active mode. Injection also will not work, so even if the Titan's Wifi COULD be used in promiscuous mode, I hope the OP plans to sit in the same place for hours and hours while trying to crack the network.

I bought my tf201 mostly for work. now that I found out that ICS has abandoned ums, I have a problem. There is no way for me to easily transfer documents to my office computer as I am not allowed to install drivers.
simplest solution: use my ms2 as mass storage over usb. i was always able to connect my ms2 to my office computer with ease.
however it does not work with the transformer. it sees flashdrives and external disks no problem, the ms2 it fails to connect to. wtf?
I have usb debugging turned off btw.
any ideas?
Can you install a service like Dropbox?
If not, can you access the Dropbox website from your work computer?
I find Dropbox to be the easiest way to send files back and forth from my PC to my phone and tablet, especially since I don't necessarily have to have my phone or tablet with me in order to make sure I can get the files on there.
Alternatively, if your work PC has a SD Card slot you can pop the MicroSD out of the Transformer and put it into an adapter in the side of the computer. Not the most convenient work flow, but not a whole lot worse than physically plugging a device into a USB slow in order to use it as mass storage either.
no dropbox allowed on my work computer and also not on the transformer prime as there is no wifi at work.
also it does not have an sd card reader. wouldn't be a problem since I can bring my own but that is not really a solution to my problem at all.
see, i did buy a flash drive to get around popping out the micro sd from the transformer etc. biggest problem is exchanging files between my phone and the tf201 as I do not want to open my battery compartment and rip everything out of my phone all the time to get a freaking word doc onto my transformer.
If you have WiFi, you can try with Sama File Shering.

please guys, i appreciate people trying to help, but noone seems to have anything to contribute towards a solution to my actual problem...
I will restate my question: usb sticks, external hdds etc work with my prime.
why the hell doesn't my milestone 2 work then? it's the same protocol to my understanding: ums.
i know that the prime can't be connected over ums since the bump to ics, but it should still work the other way round with my milestone 2.

If yoru computer has USB - could you use a USB/SD Card adapter and put the microSD in a SD Adapter? it would only run a few bucks
blue tooth transfer....
now that is a great idea. i don't know why i didn't think of that, i never used blue tooth a lot before. thanks, i'll check it out.
thinking about the earlier post aswell. maybe it is possible to connect the transformer over wifi adhoc by making the ms2 an access point. i got cm7 running on it. so samba sharing might be possible after all and i just didn't get the hint.
I just got around to connecting my ICS Transformer Prime to my Windows PC via the USB cable.. and it worked perfectly well as a USB Mass Storage device.
I was able to access practically any file on the Internal storage as well as the MicroSD card. I can copy files to and from my Windows PC with no problems whatsoever.
When I plugged the USB cable from the Prime into my PC, the Prime connected as a "Portable Media Player" and in the USB setting on the Prime, under Storage the connection type is specificed as "Media Device (MTP)."
ICS never abandoned UMS, it just doesn't work on the Galaxy Nexus (the premier ICS device) because the Galaxy Nexus lacks a microSD slot and has an unpartitioned internal storage space. The Transformer Prime has both an microSD slot and a partitioned internal drive so UMS works perfectly well.

yes, thank you for that little picture you drew up there. here is the thing. my office computer is an old windows xp computer which does not support mtp. my linux system at home does not support mtp out of the box which is annoying but not a problem.
now once again, i am looking for an uncomplicated way to get my files off my tablet and onto my phone/work computer without having to install drivers, software etc. i have a very demanding job where i need to stay mobile and if i need to print something somewhere on the go i can go into peoples offices and tell them to install that ****ty mtp protocol first or some asus driver before i can print.
i am not an idiot. so please do not treat me like one for asking a relevant question. ums has been abandoned in ics, it is not the same thing as mtp. maybe you should read up on it before you make an effort to post ridiculous tutorial pictures.
anyway, i have given up on this piece of **** hardware. Going to buy a decent laptop instead of this, if i wanted a portable toy with great battery life, i would bought a nintendo DS...
I did a search and found that no one has posted this problem on this forum - I'm the only one ??
My prime use to hooked up with my PC with no problems. At some point recently (I'm thinking the recent ICS update) my PC & Prime had a parting of ways. Now I plug in the Prime and get 'USB device not recognized'.
Downloaded and ran Asus Sync hoping that a driver vanished but no luck.
I'm running Windows 7 (64 bit). Has anyone else noticed the same problem and if so - how did you fix it ?
Thanks
I have three computers, and none of them even recognize my prime anymore, not even in Device Manager. This started after I got it back from RMA.
I, myself, am not particularly concerned about it, since I'm just waiting for the Infinity to come out; the Prime I will just pass on to a family member. If the Infinity was going to be released in the far flung future, I'd send it back.

I Have the problem as well...thought it was the cable but half happy to see it probably isnt
hey everyone, and I'm so happy to see this thread, but have you guys had similar issues to Mines?
Hello Everyone, I'll try to short and to the point. I've been searching xda/google/androidcentral on and off since maybe early Februrary and still nothing, maybe someone has some awesome insight.
So my computer won't detect my TP anymore for file transfer. It did maybe the first month or so though.
Here's what I've tried so far, with no luck.
- Different Computers - Different Cables - New Asus Brand OEM USB Cable - Aftermarket USB Cable - Different USB Ports (Front and Back of Computer) - USB Debugging Mode - Uninstalled Drivers on my PC to try and get table to re-install it. - Factory Reset (multiple times with and without auto-backup) - Connecting From KeyboardDock to Computer
I convinced my cousin to buy a TP and Dock the other week so I also got to try some extra stuff.
- I plugged His TP with His USB cable to His PC and it connected fine.
- I plugged His TP with His USB cable to MY PC and it connected fine.
- I plugged MY TP with His USB cable to His PC and it wouldn't detect.
- I plugged MY TP with His USB cable to MY PC and it wouldn't detect.
I also tried his TP with my USB cables (both oem and aftermarket) on my PC and it connected fine.
Here's Some additional Info, that may be helpful.
I was previously able to connect to my HDMI ports on my TV via micro HDMI, but that does not work anymore either.
I've seen a few people mention serial numbers, so here's some Info, not sure if it's the correct info.
My TP - TF201-B1-CG - S/N starts with a "B" His TP - TF201-B1-GR - S/N starts with a "C"
I thank you all for your time and any insight is much appreciated.
Called ASUS support - I'm the first that they have ever heard that problem. They suggested a factory reset but first I must back the data up. Never done a factory reset, I hope Voodoo will keep the root.
When I finally try it - I'll let you know what happens.
Cool thanks NewbieKeepItSimple, I hope we get this sorted ou!
Hey everyone, I have some more interesting info regarding the USB issue. I didn't want to suspect this as a problem, but yea it looks like it may be an actual bad port on the TFP itself.
My reasoning is that I got my free GPS dongle in the mail today and it won't work. Anyone else test this yet?
Another Question, as far as RMAs go, do we HAVE to call in? Anyone know for sure? I know there's forums, but trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

But you guys are charging fine? Just not connecting to the PC's? Have you had a good look at the connectors both on the cable and the Prime, nothing obvious? You all have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers right? Or maybe tried the universal naked driver utility?

Yep, charges fine. I couldn't see anything obviously wrong with cables and connectors.
As far as trying universal naked driver, I'm pretty sure drivers aren't the issue since I tried a whole different TFP with the same computers and cables (stated above) and it connected and installed the drivers correctly.

My Prime was sync'd at work with my contacts and I put movies on from my home PC. Now neither PC can communicate with the Prime.
There is somethings with the Prime and USB ports that seem a little goofy. I have a USB memory on my keychain that I use for my work files. One of the things I wanted to do with the Prime is access and work on my files during business trips. The work USB memory is 4GB Fat 32 but the Prime can't see it even though all other computers can see it. Plug in an older 2GB memory - the Prime can see it. Plug in my Apple iPhone - the Prime can see it. Plug in some other USB memories no problem but my work USB is invisible.
I really can't see any reason for the Prime to suddenly become invisible to computers but I will try the factory reset once I get my memory 64GB SDcard next week.

First, try plugging it into a different USB port. This will cause the PC to try and load a new driver.
If that fails, click Start, right click on Computer and select Manage. Look for an entry called "Portable Devices" and under that "Transformer Prime TF201".
If you don't have that at all, then the system has failed to identify the device entirely.. try it with another PC (take it to a Best Buy and plug it in.. ). If it fails there, then something has changed in your Prime. If you've flashed the ROM, it's possible that's the problem.
If you DO see the entry, but the PC isn't recognising it - right click on the entry for the Prime and select 'Uninstall'. On the dialogue box that pops up, check "Delete the driver software for this device" and let it do its thing.
Unplug the Prime, then plug it back in. It should download a new driver for the Prime. Hopefully this will fix the problem.
I've never heard of an Android device's ADB USB port failing - it's entirely possible of course - but we have five here.. which is pretty amazing.

I'm not holding out much hope either but who knows. The ASUS is rooted but I haven't flashed anything. Another tack I tried is using the just the tablet then keyboard connection but both give the same results.
If I'm connecting to two different spots that on the Prime (dock/Tablet) and there are two different interfacing chip sets involved. Maybe it is a software bug that is screwing up how the Prime addresses the USB (protocol).

hmm even if it was 2 different chip sets it'd still have to go through the main one. it'd be great if it was software based issue
don't mean to self bump but wanna see if there's more like us.
Mine was doing the same thing, now im stuck in the clockwork mod bootloop and cant communicate with my device to unbrick it.

Hi,
Some of you might remember me asking in the forum to solve the IMEI problem on a Galaxy S3 NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK.
I was not able to solve the problem even though I tired the impossible.
I came across a YouTube video repairing IMEI using a software and a piece of software and I was very impressed what this tool can do!!
So, I decided to buy it which had cost me 100$, but even though if it didn't help me solve my problem, I will most certainly need it in the future for ton of things.
It's called BST Dongle.
Now, I saw some videos on YouTube but I can’t see how do you connect the UART r523k
I have that cable and I connect it to that piece of hardware which has 4 ports.
1 port service cable and 1 port USB OUT (I put the UART R523K there and I connected the other end to my phone)
1 port USB IN 1 PORT USB OUT, What do I put there?!!
Please I need help.

Yes I did.
I ended up buying the software and hardware for 100$ or something. I figured out that me and my family we all use the Samsung phones, so in the future I can fix almost any problem and that tool supports Samsung and HTC, so I took it as an investment
I was able to fix the IMEI thing in less then a minute.

Hi, would you be kind enough to share? I have the BST kit, but just like you, I cannot figure out how to use the UART cable. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,

It's very simple. If you want I can fix ur phone using the kit remotely using teamviewer or something. If you agree, send me in a PM ur email address and we will talk. But there's one thing is missing in that kit and it's the USB A-B cable which you have to buy (it's very cheap).
It's the same cable used for the printer, so maybe you can borrow it from there!

Thank you. Already have that cable (like you said, from the printer). But, my computer is not recognizing the phone via BST. I insert the UART 523 cables into the box/microUSB into the phone, and then the printer cable into the computer.
I hear a beep, but when the software asks me to "connect to device", the dialog box pops open, and then I select a com-port, which always ends up with an error message.
Also, on BST website, they state not the Android 4.4.2 requires some soldering of the box to work.
Are you familiar with this?

I'm not familiar with that at all and never knew that there're things that must be fixed with a solder! I hope this is not ur case.
Well, there is a driver called PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1.8.0, you will find it in the drivers folder where you installed BST.
It looks like this:
Put ur phone a side for now, close the BST software and open it again, hook the usb side of the A-B Cable to ur computer and the other side to the UART and run that driver. then it will be able to recognize ur phone. It also should have a blue light on it if I recall.
U should make sure you have the latest version of BST which is : BST_V3.18.00_Setup
I hope this helps.
Did it work? does it recognize ur phone now?
nope
i have tried everything im unsure what to do. i have tried 2 different phones and i am still stuck. not sure what else i can do here.
any help
please any help for this problem
It only works of Windows 7 BTW,it will not work with 10,all the videos I have seen is on Windows 7.Just in case anyone is looking for why it might be not working on Windows 10.
Just wanting for mine to arrive, need to fix my Note 2 it has 0049** IMEI this should sort it. and handy If I need to fix anyone else phone(only HTC and Samsung).
Hi,
I recently bought a Motorola Moto 360 (2nd Gen) from ebay. It was hard to find, I live in Germany and I couldnt find new watches under 400€. So I bought a watch from ebay which was manufacturer refurbished.
Yesterday it arrived and I really do have some questions and I dont understand some stuff:
1. The seller said it was manufacturer refurbished. But it doesnt look like it was. From ebay's description it should be cleaned, and it didnt look cleaned when it arrived. Besides the glass there is coming out glue which is really hard to remove for me now.
2. A friend also has the watch but did buy it original. My watch has 4 "stamps" on its back (look image). My friend doesnt have those. Also the metal latch to change the band does not exist. How can I change my band now? The software on it says, its model is "smelt". My friends watch just says Moto 360 model.
What the **** is my watch? There is almost nothing of information about that codename smelt.
And also on its front side the bottom part which is not part of display is black of my friends watch, mine has motorola logo which seems to be a small sticker that was glued too much above the display... (image 2).

If you need more information, let me know. But please tell me if this watch is some kind of fake moto 360 2nd gen... I am really curious about that.
Seems you have some development version of the moto 360. Check this:
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/moto-360-android-wear-smartwatch-sequel-codenamed-smelt-likely-pack-high-resolution-screen-1494946
Well that's also not much information, were I tricked?
Am I able to change the bands with that watch?
I found out more stuff now: On this watch is a userdebug build installed of a totally outdated Android Wear Firmware. Is there any way to update it manually to the latest? Because the OTA just says its up 2 date but it isnt.
Changing bands is no problem as all band were like that before the quick release bands became available less than two years ago. This video may br helpful: https://youtu.be/TtPde-M5Xz0
By the way, this is the type of band I use.
I'm not sure a pre-release version of the watch is updatable, but check to see that the version of Android Wear is up to date on your phone.

Updatable via OTA probably not, but is it possible by flashing it? I mean there is no physical input/output on the watch. But is there any possibility when I open the back of the watch and creating an USB cable ?
Is there official up 2 date ROMs on the internet which I can simply flash over the current one?
Edit: I just noticed that my watch is rooted. I wanted to debug the watch via bluetooth and tried to ls /system directory which first failed because of permission. Then I entered su and tried the command again, and it showed me the whole contents of /system partition.
But nevertheless, I am not able to get into recovery. When I power down the watch, hold the power button that long after it vibrates 2 times in row, release the power button, the bootloader appears. In internet they say, by just clicking the power button once for a short time will change the selected option to get for example into recovery mode, but when i click the power button, the watch just shutdowns. If i hold it longer it also shutdowns instantly.
So I am not able to get into recovery unfortunately. So it might probably not even be possible for me to flash another rom even if i would have found the pin's for the usb cable right?
Edit²: As I said i debugged using bluetooth and just came up with an idea. I remembered with adb its possible to reboot into different modes...
Reboot to bootloader, reboot normal, reboot to recovery. And rebooting to recovery actually worked I guess...
I got a screen with android buddy and a red warning signal. Guess what's just missing is a cable that can upload/flash the ROM or a custom recovery to the watch.
Now a question, i found an official moto 360 twrp recovery. I guess i cant flash this to the watch's second generation.. ?!
What is missing now is really just the usb connection
...it is preproduction testing unit and it can have little different hardware

200€. But I got the money back and was allowed to keep the watch, because it didnt match the ebay description.
