[SOLVED] [Q] Help to decrease the brightness - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi every one
I'm using cx_miui v1.5 and it's based on cm10 (I think)
The lowest brightness level is high and drains battery and it bothers me when I use it during night, too.
So how can I decrease brightness level more.

Try downloading screenfilter. nice app.

i was about to post that too, but wasn't really clear myself.
all i managed to do was cut the capacititve button light.
only line i found in hw_config on lcd backlight was
echo 1 > $dev/lcd-backlight/als/enable #Sensor on/off. 1 = on, reg 90h

The live with workman has got a working light sensor. But the display options under settings menu doesn't offer an option for auto brightness. So the question is, is the light sensor active on stock Rom? And is there an Xperia model that offers this activation?

Unless there is a problem it is active and the problem is that you can't deactivate it without root.You can test it though by covering the sensor, i think is the biggest circle in the top front of your phone.If it is you will see the screen getting darker
The difference in screen light is really small that you almost don't notice it at all. And no, you can't enable auto brightness, LWW doesn't have that function.

Of Course,
i think the ambient light sensor is autobrightness
Maybe I'm too late but you can enable it with Tasker without root

Yep.. I tested in on ics .587 .. Screen dims or gets bright according to the ambient light... You can also do the service test to check that..

Yes but Sony made crap code to work with it
Yes Live With Walkman WT19i has Ambient Light Sensor, but Sony disabled it, I actually don't know why, the sensor works, but the code that Sony built seems to be very buggy on this since if you activate as wrote on this thread, it won't work as it should, most of the time, the screen will be very bright, what's not good for the screen and/or battery.

[Brightness Problem]

I'm having problem with my neo v.. Even I set the brightness high.. it is still dim so i need to maximize the brightness of my phone to get the normal brightness but it eats a lot of battery.. what do you think is the problem ? tried flashing GB and ICS and problem is still there T.T
Have you tried disabling the light sensor?

i found a thread in the forum that resolved the problem for me,don`t have link but i attached the file
you just have to extract .zip ,put the file in system/etc and restart,awsome brightness
sorry for bad english
The autobrightness should have had a toggle in settings by default. It also eats up alot of battery.
Try searching market or forum for this.

Cm9 brightness ?

Hello ,Am now using Cm9 for Xperia s & I've noticed that the screens maximum brightness is much dimmer. Is there a way to manually adjust the maximum brightness on the phone? Perhaps via some configuration text file or something?
Thanks.
there is an app in the playstore called "root dimmer", i think you can max it out with that.

I've already tried it and it's useless on cm9..Maybe it's a bug which will be fixed soon! Hope so : )
i think you will have to live with that, as Bravia Engine is disabled on CM9. Not sure if this does make the display brighter but it's way brighter on the stock ROM so i dont think its a bug.

I don't think its a Bravia Engine issue,Cause as you can tell it dosen't actually works on ICS as it were in gingerbread, where you can really see the difference if u turned it off !!
cm10 doesnt have that problem though

[Update v1.1] 100% brightness with auto brightness enabled.

"arcatarc" enable auto brightness(fast response)
"Serajr" Xperia Clean 'n' Tweaked - 4.1.B.0.587 - v1.1 (fix) ROM with ultra brightness mod
The problem in "arcatarc" mod is soft touch buttons are also getting high brightness which is become irritating, mainly when using mobile at night or in dark place, and in "Serajr" ultra brightness mod the automatic light sensor is fully disabled.
So, I make this mod which provide you the ultra brightness with automatic light sensor enabled and with no irritating high bright soft touch buttons.

(MOD)(Butter-Cream)Touch Screen Sensitivity and Capacitive Buttons

I have been looking into ways to make the touchscreen more responsive because I use light touches and sometimes the sensor goes crazy from them. Hopefully we can bring some project butter to ice cream sandwich. I use and Xperia S, but someone posted in my original thread that it works on Xperia P so I would assume it works on U/Sola as well. So enjoy and post in the original thread if you have a comment or need help.

Under system/us/idc there is a file called sensor00_f11_sensor0.idc
Thanks Irseq
Edit this file with a text editor.
I changed the touch pressure scale to 1.0, default is 0.0074 and default android scale is 1.0. I decided to try a larger number and see if it effects anything.
Needless to say, it seems to have made a difference in the sensitivity of the screen and also the buttons on the bottom.
Remember to make a backup of the file first.
After testing I am positive it does work, though it may be hard to tell. I do not see a difference between increasing the number to 1.0 or 5.0 so i use 1.0 right now.
The reason i did this is because back in the GB Xperia S days, one of the firmwares released had tweaks to this number which were for capacitive buttons. So I hunted down the file to find and change it.
Change sensor00_f11_sensor0.idc values to these.
touch.pressure.scale= 1.0 [instead of 0.0075]
touch.size.scale= 20.00 [ instead of 16.91]
touch.size.bias= 70.00 [instead of 67.65]
Thanks to Auni for helping me confirm my suspicions
Here are some extra settings that help smoothness as well.
Change in the build.prop, if the lines arent there add them.
Easy to do in system tuner
Dalvik Tweaks
dalvik.vm.verify-bytecode=false
dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=v=n,o=v,m=y
UI Tweaks
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=(240-300) pick one
ro.kernel.android.checkjni=0
ro.kernel.checkjni=0
ro.max.fling_velocity=12000
ro.min.fling_velocity=8000
persist.sys.ui.hw=1
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=1
View.scroll_friction=10
These will make touchscreen response better.

this is interesting. i have a user with X-U running stock .54 complaining that kids find games difficult to play as screen often ignores inputs.
could this be the cause?
does it still work on .54 and .75 ok?
worth noting that i already noticed pressure sensitivity isn't working (at all - it's binary on-off) (whereas on X-P with same rom version, pressure sense does work!).
i might try this tweak later, thanks.
