I'm having problem with my neo v.. Even I set the brightness high.. it is still dim so i need to maximize the brightness of my phone to get the normal brightness but it eats a lot of battery.. what do you think is the problem ? tried flashing GB and ICS and problem is still there T.T
Have you tried disabling the light sensor?

brightness
i found a thread in the forum that resolved the problem for me,don`t have link but i attached the file
you just have to extract .zip ,put the file in system/etc and restart, awsome brightness
sorry for bad english
The autobrightness should have had a toggle in settings by default. It also eats up alot of battery.
Try searching market or forum for this.

The live with workman has got a working light sensor. But the display options under settings menu doesn't offer an option for auto brightness. So the question is, is the light sensor active on stock Rom? And is there an Xperia model that offers this activation?

Unless there is a problem it is active and the problem is that you can't deactivate it without root. You can test it though by covering the sensor, i think is the biggest circle in the top front of your phone. If it is you will see the screen getting darker
The difference in screen light is really small that you almost don't notice it at all. And no, you can't enable auto brightness, LWW doesn't have that function.

Of Course,
i think the ambient light sensor is autobrightness
Maybe I'm too late but you can enable it with Tasker without root

Yep.. I tested in on ics .587 .. Screen dims or gets bright according to the ambient light... You can also do the service test to check that..

Yes but Sony made crap code to work with it
Yes Live With Walkman WT19i has Ambient Light Sensor, but Sony disabled it, I actually don't know why, the sensor works, but the code that Sony built seems to be very buggy on this since if you activate as wrote on this thread, it won't work as it should, most of the time, the screen will be very bright, what's not good for the screen and/or battery.

Hello ,Am now using Cm9 for Xperia s & I've noticed that the screens maximum brightness is much dimmer. Is there a way to manually adjust the maximum brightness on the phone? Perhaps via some configuration text file or something?
Thanks.
there is an app in the playstore called "root dimmer", i think you can max it out with that.

I've already tried it and it's useless on cm9..Maybe it's a bug which will be fixed soon! Hope so : )
i think you will have to live with that, as Bravia Engine is disabled on CM9. Not sure if this does make the display brighter but it's way brighter on the stock ROM so i dont think its a bug.

I don't think its a Bravia Engine issue,Cause as you can tell it dosen't actually works on ICS as it were in gingerbread, where you can really see the difference if u turned it off !!
cm10 doesnt have that problem though
This mod is created by help of the mod by-
"arcatarc" enable auto brightness(fast response)
"Serajr" Xperia Clean 'n' Tweaked - 4.1.B.0.587 - v1.1 (fix) ROM with ultra brightness mod
The problem in "arcatarc" mod is soft touch buttons are also getting high brightness which is become irritating, mainly when using mobile at night or in dark place, and in "Serajr" ultra brightness mod the automatic light sensor is fully disabled.
So, I make this mod which provide you the ultra brightness with automatic light sensor enabled and with no irritating high bright soft touch buttons.
Changelog: v1.1
Now more responsive.
Fixed the orientation problem in landscape mode.
Please download for the specific device.
How To:
1. Download the zip file of the mod.
2. Flash with CWM.
3. Reboot and enjoy...

Hi every one
I'm using cx_miui v1.5 and it's based on cm10 (I think)
The lowest brightness level is high and drains battery and it bothers me when I use it during night, too.
So how can I decrease brightness level more.
Try downloading screenfilter. nice app.

Hi,
So As many XPERIA Sola users I am facing huge battery problems, everything else with this phone is just fine.
Could someone post some tips advices for getting it to last longer as possible... and I wanted to know for sure is it better to use battery saving apps or don t... personally I use Easy Battery Saver and Advanced Task Killer I have used these apps for 3 phones now, this is 3rd... previous 2 seemed to work fine with them.
So here is what I did for now:
-Display brightness - lowest
-Bravia engine - off
-NFC - off
-Keep Wi-Fi & Bluetooth - off when not needed
-Mobile Data - allways off, don t use it at all
-Live Wallpaper - disabled
I am using 6.0.B.3.184 GB firmware
At the beginning I was facing charging problem so I decided to update my phone to ICS witch was a huge mistake, phone was lagging horribly, battery indicator % kept counting down like 1% per minute or less when screen was on(for real), so i downgraded it to 6.0.B.3.184, and thank God it went back to normal, but still battery seems weak...
Another question...How about Rooting phone and install Set CPU app to change processor speed? Is it worth it? And will phone lagg more?
Any help will be appreciated
My English is not perfect but I think u guys understand everything
Thanks.
anyone?
Install ICS, use transcendce kernel and remove all bloatware (all apps you dont need). Let it charge up to 100percent and all will be ok.
I can get 2 days with this.
And never use any taks killers.
Okey... Thanks Mate...

How to enable android task killer to kill apps more often? Is it possible.?.. I don t want to do it manually.

Bro just use one app ''greenify'' u donot need to use anything not even the taskkiller or manager, greenify actually hibernates all the background apps and it will make ur Xperia sola superfast. Try it

If you are rooted then replace your build.prop with the one provided in the link below. It largely increases your battery's efficiency. It works for me. Try it.

so just to be sure I need to download v1.9 Neutron Energy Build.prop For Xperia Sola ICS 6.1.1.B.1.54 01-07-2013 since I have 54th firmware on Sola and then I need to just change build.prop file in system/build.prop directory and that's it?
No restart or what so ever..?
And how much better is the battery life... does it changes the preformance? If my Sola runs verry smooth now will it lag after I change file?

Reboot after you change the build prop... Then in developer option change background processes to 2 or 3.. Also disable all those system apps you don't use.. and use greenify to hibernate other apps

Exactly. Download that version. Then replace it with the build.prop present in your device with proper permissions. Restart your cell after that. Battery life would surely improve. Previously I had to charge my battery twice in a day now it lasts for a complete day. Isn't that a major difference?
