The S2 is essentially unusable right now, with the battery drain problem. I have tried everything described on these forums. reflashed the phone a dozen times, reset and tried every thing in the book. Only thing left is reflashing backwards to KE2.
Does that offer a less of a battery drain, than say the KE7? Mine is at such a bad spot right now, its not funny. Running stock KE7 with 3 apps installed, it's lost 30 percent in 3 hours. or there abouts?
Did u try to turn the wifi off ? I recommend you to try out the Juice Defender app which help improve the battery by controlling wiring and other connectivity. It will auto turn off wifi when screen off.

Yea i did. Bought the ultimate version of the app. Not much change.
How long were u playing with it in those 3 hours? What's your screen on time?

i Have KE7 installed. Its rooted and i am using Antek App Manager (free) to freeze some of the samsung crap plus using Android Assistant to clear cache and close programs etc. My battery is pretty good. last night, on a full charge, found out in the morning it used only around 7% of battery. During the day the battery usage had been good too. Wirless is on and background sync enabled, battery on 66%
I had KE7 installed from the off. Battery life has been improving for me (Only had the phone about 10 days)
I keep things down to a minimum (no Wifi, bluetooth, background sync).
I managed to get nearly 3 and a half days out of my last charge. This is with occasional texts, emails checks, phone calls and Google reader updates. I use launcher pro and have set the weather widget to update every 3 hours.
The battery on my Orance San Francisco hardly used to last 2 days with similar usage.
With the screen size & processor power, I for one am very happy with the battery life of my SG2.

None. I was snoozing. The handset had been taken off the charger, email account configured and i had taken a call. Fell asleep after that. Screen on time was 78 percent. (Only apps open were a gmail one, 3 browser windows and titanium)
Great life here
Just to add a counterpoint, I'm running stock unrooted KE2 and am having incredibly great battery life. No frozen apps or battery management apps, other than the stock settings that kick in after 50%.
I recently forgot to charge overnight, and still had >40% battery left after around 36 hours of moderate use.
This is with auto screen brightness, WiFi always on, no syncing except for gmail/contacts/calendar (With a fairly high degree of gmail traffic).
During that time I played Angry Birds, used GPS navigation, send numerous texts, emails, and phone calls. Recorded about 10 minutes of 720p video, took a bunch of photos, and browsed the web periodically.
I'd love the OP to send it back, and see if his new one had the same issue. Maybe it's his 3G, or maybe a just a bad unit? You paid alot of money, something this serious send it back.

There is a huge gap in the middle where you didn't turn on the screen, for like 16 or 18 hours (except once).... Be honest, while sleeping, do you hibernate? hehehe.

Lol. Actually I'm pretty sure the screen would have been on multiple times during that period, just not for extended periods of time. Perhaps they just didn't warrant an entire pixel?

juice defender doubled my batt life. i also froze some sammy apps with titanium.
have gone from 12 hours of batt life, (which i could live with, that pretty much what my n900 did) to nearly 2 days with moderate usage..

Wow... I would love to have that battery life...
Is it true that after some time of use of the phone the battery improves a bit? (I read it somewhere, but I don't remember where nor if they mention what was the reason for that)

Planning to do that today. Got just a couple of days left on return policy. If not.. well i am stuck. I love the phone. I want it to work... but 5-7 hours is just nonsense. I hope 2.34 ships soon and sorts out the mysterious drain.
Yep KE2 has much better battery life than KE7. For me anyway. I can get a full day's use out of one charge with moderate use and screen brightness set to 50%.
I have also frozen all the bloat. In idle with email set to push the phone uses about 2% an hour. Which is not bad in my books.

Thanks. That's all i wanted to know!
A few nights ago I killed all the running apps on my atrix and turned off all network services like bluetooth and wifi except for mobile data. 9 hours later (with no use) the battery had dropped seven percent. Then I turned off mobile data as well and did the same thing. 9 hours later the battery had dropped 5 percent. On my iphone 3G I left data on and 9 hours later the battery had dropped 0 percent.
It seems to me that because android has multitasking, things that you don't need stay running in the background and although the battery usage by each is minimal, after long periods of time the battery usage adds up. On phones like the iPhone 3G, there is no multitasking (I didn't use backgrounder) so no applications or services were running and therefore no battery was drained.
My question is if there is a way to turn every application and service off other than those that govern calls and texts so that the idle battery usage is minimal and more comparable to phones like the iPhone 3G?
There was a thread about this in the nexus one forum. Miui if my memory serves... It consisted of running apps right off the sd card via dark tremors and some serious autokiller memory optimizer tweaks.
I heard mixed results of great battery life and corrupt sd cards. Either way there are better ways of achieving good battery life whilst keeping that snappy multitasking of android.
Sent from my Googletron
Is miui available on the atrix? It doesn't show up in their list of supported phones?
If anyone else has any other solutions please post them too.
Yea, I don't think you can get miui on the atrix.
BTW, I instead of just disconnecting mobile data I turned on airplane mode and it lost 3 percent battery in 7 hours (cell standby was gone from battery usage and phone idle was at 90% with display at 5%). Extrapolating to 9 hours makes it 3.7% which means that simply searching for a connection contributes to half of the battery usage when idle.
Putting my phone in airplane mode is not a good solution... does anyone have any other ideas?
post your average battery life...i want some tips from the ones who have best battery lifes..
to get the best juice out of ur o1..
use devoif froyo-final..
i got about 3 and a half battery..
3 and a half days ?? are you kidding??
My battery only lasts maybe up to 12 hours... if I'm lucky
Tried removing widgets, using a batter saver... tried charging the battery, deleting the battery stats file, discharging it recharging it... shortened display on time, turned down volumes
I don't know what's up? I've tried wiping and reinstalling ROM's... I don't even use it as much as I'd like because of the battery life
Optimus V (VM670)
AOSPmod 20110601
16gb sdcard w/1gb ext4 partition
Don't use battery savers, they increase it drain...
Mine on devoid froyo only lasts one day..tried wiping battery stats many times..but same result..
Mine is on devoid.final with franco.kernel v16.1, and I get about one and a half day of battery on average use. I play at times, send quite a number of texts and make a call once or twice a day. I developed the habit of bringing my USB cable to charge my phone at work now. :/
my phone doesnt last even for about 18 hours if i am using it on average basis by which i mean 1 hour gaming...2 hours of time pass by simply changing settings and all...but i do text quite often and have around 100 apps installed on my phone...will it help if i keep only which are necessary and use titanium backup for others which i only use once in a while.....
my last hopes are on froyo final and the above mentioned solution...i am going to try it soon...
In my experience most of the battery takes 3G mode, especially when active HSDPA. If I am using only 2G mode phone can withstand more than 2 days, which is a good result, but in the 3G just 1,5 day. Remember that at the time did not use the Internet to disable the Internet connection, it should help you.
20-24 hours.
I'm using nessy right now and getting the best battery.
I call a lot so this is the right rom for me after around two to three hours of talk I'm still left with some juice. Turn my sync and use apn off application , least screen display brightness got a widget for turning it high when I need it. Use mostly wifi for internet.
on CM7... 12 hours and it's dead. without wifi
well my battery life has improved by these steps:
1. Wiped all my data, cache, battery stats ,everything(though i don't think this is necessary).
2.Flashed froyo final.(I am now on devoid forever and will test my battery life on it)
3. Checked 2g networks only in settings-networks-mobile networks.(Dunno how much that helped me )
4.Install only apps which are necessary (i have around 50 installed)..and the rest you can restore via titanium when you need it....
and now my phone eats just around 1% per hour of idle time....(it's improved)
I get around 2 days backup on Devoid final with franco 16.1. Only 2G, 1-2 hours calls, sms, bit of wifi tethering, Browsing on edge for 1-2 hours, facebook, and no gaming
In Cm7 maximum around 20hours that too without wifi, or any fancy stuff. Just 30minutes browsing on 2g.

IMO it is hard to compare battery use when the phone is active because it depends on too many factors: widgets, wi-fi usage, 3g/2g, app, brightness, etc.
What can I tell is that my phone in sleep use 0.6315% battery/hour
Anyhow I charge my phone every day because I play a lot with it.
I'm using OpenOptimus 1.172.1 and franco's kernel 16.1
My routine usage goes like this: 6am to 7pm (13h) plays non stop music (fmradio or poweramp). No wifi no data, 2g only.
During that time, I use 3g data for browsing, chat, emails and youtubing for a couple of hours more or less
7pm to 10pm: 2g only, no data, wifi on. I do a few browsing around 30min top, synch stuff with dropbox etc
Finally after 16-17h of usage it has around 30% - 40% of juice left in it. Then I put it for charge, go to sleep and start over again next day
On weekends it's a completely different story. Especially when i'm fooling around with GB roms i might have to charge it 2 times a day

Hi
My battery lasted 2 days on CyanogenMod7
Now that I have Gingerbread 2.3.4 by andy572, it lasts 4 days on a minimal usage

That's weird. I flashed and reflashed andy's rom two times and I had the same issue. 10% battery drain every 2 hours. IN IDLE.
That meant my phone was dead in 20h in idle mode, 12-14 hours if used for texting and calls.
I am also using Andy's rom and kernel, with a normal use, daily 30-40 minutes with wifi on, 30-40 minutes talk and 9-10 sms. I mention that 3g is off data is usually off so since the last full recharge passed 3 days and i am still at 28%. performance is also great. Love this rom

The mediapad is my first tablet. I just bought a second hand one, and two things trouble me:
1) The RAM in active processes is displayed as 512, should it not be 1GB?
2) battery life seems too low, something along the lines of 3 hours of mainly google play use. I have high resolution set, active wifi, had no sim inserted, though plane mode was not activated.
A lot of devices display less memory than you think they should, it's ok don't worry.
Yes the battery does not last very long...

mediapad battery life
If you go to settings/applications/running services you should see bar at the bottom of the screen indicating free and used ram. Mine is standing at 191MB used and 434MB free at the moment.
I was going to ask about battery life myself, so here is a question for all other mediapad users: How much "screen on" time do you get per charge?
No matter what I do, I can't even get close to 6 hours that are specified.
The best I got was 5:15, and that was offline (wifi and 3G), brightness on minimum (bedtime reading), JuiceDefender on.
Only apps I was using were Adobe Reader, ComicRack and Amazon Kindle.
If I use Opera, Facebook, YouTube, StumbleUpon, News360, I get about 4 hours of "screen on" time.
When I look at battery usage breakdown in settings, display or wifi are never at the top. Usually there is AndroidOS or Android System, followed by some of the apps I was using.
If I play GTA3 (ver1.3 works great btw), it drains about 20% per 15 minutes of playtime.
On occasion it happens that battery drains at usual rate to about 15%, and then the shutdown countdown begins, as battery drops from ~15% to zero instantly.
Also, sometimes when it drops to 20% goes back to 30%, then from 10% goes back to 20% and from there drains to zero normally. It drives me crazy as I'm never sure how much juice I have left.
Tried to use Battery Calibrator app, but still the problem still persists. Can't root, still have year of warranty left.
Do you guys have any similar issues, how do you cope? And don't forget to tell us your "screen on" times and typical usage.
Thanks!
I know this might be somewhat of a gravedig but I really need to correct things a bit...
With WiFi on, screen brightness down and constant screen on + surfing / reading I was able to squeeze out 7 hours and 10 minutes out of the battery, starting at 100%...
The battery really is awesome! Just make sure to turn off things you dont need (Bluetooth, GPS, 3G / Mobile Data, Screen Brightness).
I'm surprised, in a positive way.
The only problem I got is with the touchscreen shaking and at times not taking my taps.
Hi I'm looking for a discussion rather than a Q so I chose this section.
I'm looking to chat with Go users about the battery life. How long does your battery last and what do you use it for? I notice that it
has a comparatively small battery but this doesn't always mean low battery - and I notice this phone IS being officially updated to Jelly Bean. I think the lower resolution screen helps keep the CPU and battery relaxed perhaps? What's your usage like?
Per Day Usage
Phone calls
Music
Internet browsing
I'm using the Sola and I hate the battery, I have to charge it 1-2 times per day. I use it for 1 hour of browsing, 1 hour of music, 5 minutes of calls, lighting texting - then it dies, I hate it. I'm considering the Go or J. The J has poor CPU/RAM but far bigger battery vs the Go.

The GO has a *****n nice battery life I'm using a Sola and get round 16hours. My friend got a GO and his battery was after 9 hours from 100 on 80%!!
After 9 hours, your friend's Go went from 100 to 80%? That's not bad at all! Does he/she leave the internet on? That seems to be a huge battery killer but I need it. If the Go could last 2 days I'd buy it now...
I bought my XGO two weeks ago, and below is my battery life and its usage (sorry no screenshots)
Battery Life:
100% to 15% lasted around 45-50 hours
2 to 3 hours screen on time
Usage:
Exchange push sync (email, calendar)
Gmail push sync (email, calendar, contact)
Outlook.com sync every 1 hour (email, calendar, contact)
No Social Network (Facebook, Twitter, etc) sync
light web browsing of 15 minutes daily
Power Saver implemented:
Installed BitDefender PowerTuneup (disable all network connectivity from 1 - 6am daily, except only connected to basic phone network)
Restricted all background 3G data except for Exchange, and Google native services
Location, GPS, Bluetooth turned off 99.5% of time.
Screen Auto 55%
Battery life is almost the same as my Galaxy Nexus, but my Galaxy Nexus can never get more than 2 hours screen on time even with 2000mAh battery, I guess maybe the screen used up too much power... Battery life for Go is pretty good in my opinion, would be super if it comes with 1600-1700 mAh battery...

Yes he did The whole day, his mobile Internet is activated and he has a screen on time of round 75%!!
I get about 4-5 hours nonstop browsing with brightness at about 30%, wifi and autosync on.
If wifi is off, I lose 2-3% while I sleep. That's about 7-8 hrs of sleep.
I keep data on and forced 3g during work. Signal is poor at my desk so with constant use I end up with about 30-40% after 7 hours if I didn't bring my charger.
Battery mileage really depends on how it's used and what's installed and what's running and how bright the screen is.
The bottom line is that this phone lasts one work day with me without having to charge.

My experience from Go's battery is that if you do not have 3G on is good. Otherwise it is draining too fast. I get 1-2 days battery life depending on the use. Usage is mainly phone calls and texting and a bit of browsing and checking fora through tapatalk or xda apps. For forum reading I use 2g/edge so to not drain my battery. Brightness is at auto with 100% max level. In general I don't think its battery cab endure a whole day of heavy use.. Screen usually drains 65-70% of battery according to statistics.

Xperia GO Battery Life
I got this phone two weeks ago after having a water ingress failure on my Motorola Defy.. what a shame, but now I'm happy. This ST27a is a great phone, I am not a phone movie watcher or gamer, so CPU and RAM are more than adequate for myself. Great look, light weight, perfect size AND waterproof (angels singing)... I ordered it unlocked and it came with ICS pre-loaded (4.0.4), at first it was such a huge disappointment as for the battery life, it was draining very very quickly almost needing two charges at day, there was a system update available but I was lazy enough to not install the Sony thing on my PC, then I finally got the weekend time and updated it (to the 6.1.1.B.1.10, KERNEL VERSION 3.0.8+) IT SOLVED MY BATTERY ISSUES!!!
The phone has a more than sufficient battery life, I do surf web every time during the day, have updates every 30 minutes for Gmail, Facebook, weather, news, everything, and it lasts from 8.00am at 100% to next 11.00am to 14% (which the preset low batt alarm sounds). Only thing I do is switch data off during night that's it. Screen brightness while in the office is at minimum but you can easily read it very clearly. I do take a lot of pictures for my work and some videos and still get that battery life. The phone is OK, just take care of which software version you have installed. I am sure that if I would turn the data off and activate it only while the screen is on, the batt would last at least two days (I will make this test and see what happens).... cheers.

With data, bluetooth and wifi off, I only lose about 1-2% overnight.
With Data on, this thing drains about 1% every 2 minute or so.
