actually that makes better sense lol contact the seller and see if you can get password if not follow the steps that i said above
I'm guessing you are getting the wifiunlocker screen. Keep entering wrong passwords a lot of times.
yes i have contacted the seller but now he wont answer also wiped everything through cwm and flashed lightning rom through odin. i can connect to wifi but as soon as the screen times out i have the password lock again.
hey guys i just wiped everything again and flashed a rom phone seems to be working fine but i wanted to seeif i could change the lock so i went to security settings and when i go to setup pattern a keyboard pops up and asks for password??
not sure if it will work. but you can try doing a complete wipe - data, cache, dalvik cache and in advanced menu go format - do everything. hoping that u dont have any data in sd card. After that try installing the latest Cynanogen Mod and this being a non samsung ROM there is a chance that it might not have that pattern stored.
But i have flashed ROMs after setting password. after every rom flash the passwords/pattern never worked. u can give anything and it will enter the phone.
I believe you need stock recovery (so stock rom too) and then enter 10 times a wrong password. This should wipe the password (and all other data).

just flash a stock rom over the one thats in the handset..fully wipe everything cache dalvik and data and go into mount store and system data and format it and then reflash the stock rom
im gonna give this a shot thanks ill keep you guys posted i really appreciate the help
go into settings then "location and security".there you will see "screen unlock settings".Choose what ever option you want.Try choosing "none" and see what happens

If the previous owner had set a password, you cannot remove it because it is on EFS partition which is not touched by a wipe/flash. This is part of Samsung's professional grade security. The only way to fix it is to go into Recovery mode, do a wipe (cache + user data), then flash a stock ROM with Odin. Once that done, you go back in Recovery mode and enter several times the same password until the phone will wipe itself. "Unlock With WiFi" feature will turn your phone into a nice paperweight, don't use it. If you try this without wiping/flashing a stock ROM, it will not work.

It will ask forever for a password, which he does not have.

I need serious help with my i9000

Hi guys,
I am in the process of installing Dark Knight onto my Galaxy S i9000.
I have wiped data and done a factory reset and also wiped delvik cache.
However i didnt put the 4.0.4 ROM on the internal sdcard!
I am now completely stuck on how to get over this.
How do i put the ROM on the sdcard when the phone is in this state?
Im finding it hard.
Im useless with all this stuff.
If you could help me guys that would be great.
Regards,
Ben
Just switch on the phone and put it there...
The stuff that you have wiped shall be rebuilt after the first boot...
Factory reset and wiping dalvik cache and data won't do any harm (unless its specifically mentioned for your device)...

Hi Acid thanks for that.
But how exactly do you mean?
When i switch it on it just goes through the start up sequence over and over and when i connect it to the PC it doesn't recognise it.
Thanks, Ben
What you are facing now is known as bootloop...
If you want more specific help, ask this question at your devices' q&a...
All I can tell you is to install any stock rom, and go through the process again...

Edit: sorry for double post, network error...

I flashed FlappJaxx Beta 3 and had a bad down load or something so anyway tons of reboots and nothing just the non stop vibrate.. well i i finally got it back to the down load screen after pulling the battery several times. and got it Odin back to unrooted and turn on followed the unroot instruction well i left it stock and have had same issue where i click something and it flashes and just vibrates over and over until i pull battery.. well is this phone dead is there a fix?
I odin back again and same thing im going to odin back to stock again then do a stock root and flash another room but its doing the stupid reboot over and over vibrate thing even with the non-rooted stock rom. i just can't seem to find any direction on how to fix this or is it just a lost cause. wanted it to hold on till Note 2 hit shelves but looks like a s3 in my futures.
OK didnt work still FC and boot looping this time i installed Kies and put in download mode and updated the firmware and im getting same thing. GOSH DOGGIT hahaha.. Yea i need some advise i tried everything ive read i must be missing something somewhere.

First of all, I'm no pro at this stuff but I feel your pain.
It sounds like you are getting stuck in a boot loop of sorts.
What I would do if I was you, after flashing a rom, go back into Recovery mode on the phone and clear out the cache partion, wipe Dalvik cache, and then wipe data/factory reset. After that, reboot your phone - it should start up normally. This is what I do to my phone to get it to function as it should.
Hope that helps
i went in to the advance tab and formatted everything hahah.. it juts wiped and odin back to stock again bout to wipe it and try to odin root see if i can get it done. worth a try ive tried to much stuff im bout to take phone out get my 338 tape to a zombie target and have some fun!

Agreed ...
When returning to stock via Odin ...you must reboot into your recovery and wipe data and factory reset the device prior to rebooting.
Even though you wiped prior to flashing the stock Odin .tar image.
These devices stay dirty even after wiping data on occasion ...g

Boot into your recovery, and "fix permissions "...then reboot.
That should clear up the rest of the issues ...g

oh really? wow i didnt even think about that im wiping again and flashing odin to stock but this time after it boots i will wipe factory reset. then root factory reset and fix permissions. thank for the help!
Always welcome ....
Fixing permissions is overlooked a lot ...
And the wrong permissions will cause FC's all over the build ..
I always fix permissions after any flash or modification ....it's just a good habit to get into ...IMHO ...g

you probably will need to do a factory reset from the BOOTLOADER, you know, the white screen with the colorful text options...I've seen this is how other people who lose 4g fix it.
also I just found this in case you experience any issues with the internal SD card after doing a bootloader factory reset:
Connect the phone to a Windows PC, open Device Manager. There you should have the option to format the SD memory. Format as FAT32, and this should fix the SD card corruption.
This is a bug within hboot, and factory resets should only be done in TWRP.

So I went to bootloader and pressed factory reset but it sends me directly to twrp? Do I just press factory reset in there or was it suppose erase without going to recovery?

[Q] Nexus 4 Stuck in "Andoid is upgrading... Starting apps." After Updating CM11

[Q] Nexus 4 Stuck in "Andoid is upgrading... Starting apps." After Updating CM11
URGENT - PLEASE HELP
After I updated CM11 to the latest build OTA, my Nexus 4 became stuck in the "Android is upgrading...Starting apps" screen. I tried rebooting it, that just resulted in a bootloop, so I cleared the Dalvik cache, and now the situation is the way it was originally - in the Starting Apps screen.
I was able to get to the CWM recovery, however if I backup to /sdcard, the backup fails - I have no idea why. I have not backed up in a long time.
Is there any way to solve this problem WITHOUT performing a factory reset? I REALLY cannot afford to loose all my files...
Thanks.
