I'm trying to figure out what was best in terms of insurance on the SGS2. AT&T is like $5.99/m I believe and requires a $200 deductible. Best Buy (where I got the phone) is like $9.99/m a month w/no deductible. Are their any more options and which are you guys using. I'm bit of a klutz and possibly a misplacer at times lol...don't think I would dish out the the retail for another one...thanks in advance!!!

Squaretrade offers warranties with ADH for a one time fee, its $125 for Android phones if I remember right, but you can usually find discount codes to get it cheaper, its a $50 deductible.
Sent from my Toshiba THRiVE using Tapatalk
Insured with squaretrade for about 3 years. Usually can find 30% off codes. Bought my GS2 with a claim on my Infuse 4G. I guess they didn't have parts yet so they sent me $599.99 and took longer than 5 days so they refunded what I paid for the warranty as well.
There's a company out there that covers lost/stolen phones but I don't remember the name
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
I choose AT&T since it cover lost/stolen, that's my primary concern that I will leave the phone somewhere accidentally and forgot about it. Even though the deductible is $200, it beats paying $500 for anew one
OK thanks guys...squaretrade sounds kinda neat gonna look into it...but the Best Buy might be the best move because its automatically deducted from your account every month and it also covers lost/stolen/broken/water damage...and its no deductible and they give you a loaner until they get your claim filled...I had some Best Buy coverage on my Captivate I believe but the plan doesn't seem like the same one...Idk...but these devices are getting more and more costly and I just want to make sure I'm covered. It would suck to have anything less than this GS2 right now especially due to negligence. The att doesn't sound bad theoretically to me because its on my bill and I know I could possibly apply it to getting an upgraded device in the future if I ***** enough lol

I self insure. Cell phone insurance is a rip off.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
I don't have insurance, but so far all the phones I've had haven't gotten damaged or lost, aside from my first 3GS (I had 2). It was lost, didn't have any tracking on it, so I lost it forever.
The only "insurance" I have is Cerberus. It's a cheap, one time fee of 6-7 dollars USD.

I'll agree that it's expensive but you have to know it gets abused like crazy. The prices reflect it. But I'm with you, no insurance here either.

So true. Had my Captivate well over a year and the only time I replaced it was when I had hard bricked it...and it was covered under the AT&T warranty (since I just told them it wouldn't turn on anymore). I kept it in a Body Glove skin which was great at shock absorbing...when I finally sold it it had no scratches or blemishes at all. It also was heavier than the SGS2 which helped me keep up with it in my belt pouch. This phone seems a lil fragile tho. I ordered a few rubber skins off Amazon and I plan on doing a little stress testing with each to determine whether or not I should even bother with the insurance at all.

So Ive had my Evo for almost two years and my update is not due till August 1st. Is there a way to get my upgrade moved up? What would be the most money efficient way for me to upgrade?
Also what did you do to upgrade and how much did you end up paying?
Thanks in advance!

my upgrade was supposed to be in December. I called sprint and paid $45 to have it moved up until now.

So you paid $45 and they gave you the E4GLTE? Or did you have to pay for anything else?

You still have to pay for the phone (upgrade price). The $45 he paid was a fee to buyout the rest of the contract. The fee varies based on the remaining length of contract and can only be done after you're already 12 months into your contract, which you are. Call sprint, ask them to let you buy out, then you'll be free to get the phone wherever you'd like

Yes unless you get it from wirefly or amazon. Best Buy was running a good deal just not sure for how long. My upgrade wasn't due until Sept called and got it bumped for $45 preordered through BB traded in my 3d and got my phone for $40.

Depending on what they make you pay to get your upgrade. The EVO trade in was I believe $50 for the phone and $50 for getting another sprint phone. I'm not sure how long that deal is good for though. So if you pay $45 to get your upgrade and get the og EVO deal you would end up paying $145 plus $36 for activation.

If your buy out is $45, then you would spend about $145 for the buy out and the phone as long as you do it before June 2 (I believe the Evo trade in promotion expires on this day).
Phone $199-$50 Evo trade in - $50 credit for Evo trade in = $100 + $45 buyout = $145+tax. That is your out of pocket and then you will get a $50 best buy gift card (which you may or may now be able to use on the phone...depends on your Best Buy mobile employee).
It's been a long grueling last year with my OG Evo and it's time to part ways. I've always been and HTC supporter and I will continue to support their product. I will be getting an EVO LTE but paying the full $199 just seems outlandish especially now that ATT and T-Mobile dropped the One X to $99.99. I have some other options rather than buying directly from Sprint but I wanted to know other people's experience. Radioshack and Wirefly will ship one to my house, FedEx next day (which means I wouldn't get it till Tuesday), for $149.99 even. I was wanting to know any drawbacks to purchasing from these two providers rather than going through Sprint. I do have full insurance through Asurion so accidental damage isn't my concern but more of what happens if there is a manufactures defect? Also, anybody heard any news of Sprint reducing the price so they can compete? I would hate to pay $199 and then have Sprint drop it to $99 in the next month or so.
I could also go to Best Buy and get it for $149.99. I think this is going to be my first option considering my patience with my OG is running really thin. I am also selling my great condition OG with a ton of stuff so if anyone want to shoot me an offer, I would definitely think about it before posting on eBay.
It's too bad you didn't get it last week bestbuy had it for $99 for a week. I just got mine this pay Friday paid $104 out the door

Ya I just checked and it is only for brand new lines. I need to upgrade so it would be $99 which isn't bad. I may just have to do that. I may walk in to best buy and see if they will honor last weeks price because I'm technically not eligible until Sept 1st and I've tried everything to get my date pushed up. Once again I am upgrading and not starting a new line or contract. The prices vary drastically.

I think that the most important part for you is to get evo with 1.12 hboot. If you go to the big stores or sprint corporate store you may not find it. You need to go to small stores that sell sprint phones, that way you may get lucky.

Yah absolutely. The problem is small stores that sell Sprint have to abide by Sprint's pricing. I fell like if I order one online, it will come boxed and I can do whatever from there. I'm sure there will be a LazyPanda updated for 1.15 but who knows when. Having radio S-OFF isn't the biggest deal to me as long as I can get root. It sucks not being able to sideload firmware but what are you going to do about HTC and their bootloaders. I think I'm going to go through Amazon. It seems to be the only place to get the upgrade price of $99.99.

no way
There is a non-refundable deductible ranging from $50 to $200 per approved claim for lost, stolen or damaged (physical or liquid) phones.
Screw that. Extended warranties are a cash cow for them and a bad deal for the consumer.
I was originally lied to when I signed up. They told me that I just get a brand new device if anything happens to mine. Screen broke, brought it in, and they asked for $100. I told them they never told me about any deductible but they insisted that I was lying. Fought it over and over, got to a higher up, they dropped it to $50, and got my new phone. **** Sprint. They wouldn't hire me because I was too honest. Once I get this new job I will gladly pay my early termination fee and ditch this B.S. and cannot wait!

My experience as well. Right now I have TEP AND asurion cuz asurion covers loss, while BB covers water damage, which TEP doesn't. . been trying to figure which one to cancel, but I know if I lose it, I'll mid asurion, if I drop it in the toilet, I'll wish I still had BB insurance. You normally dodge a deductible when you deal with Sprint, in person. Over the phone, you'll be directed to use Asurion which 9/10 guarantees you'll be paying that deductible.
You can't avoid it (Asurion) if you've lost the phone & barely avoid it with water damage.

I lost my Evo 2mo after I bought it and I had cancelled my TEP and had BB insurance, had to buy a new Evo full price. When I did, I started asurion/TEP again.
Still haven't cancelled BB. I know I'm getting ripped off paying for both? I just can't decide which to keep.

I am a RSA in a T-mobile Corp Store. From T-Mobiles return/exchange policy there is a $50 fee for return/exchange for most smartphones. Some of the smartphones have a $75 fee like the Note 2 and the Iphone 5. The Manger has to override the restocking fee and most mangers will not override it unless you can show us the problem in the store. There is no known issue right now about reboots in our internal system. I am not saying that it isn't a issue but I have yet to see any HTC One reboot that I have sold. Most of the time if you want to exchange the phone for the same model the fee is removed. If you want to change to a different phone or just do a full return the fee is almost always charged unless we see the problem.

Its what we have been told when we tell customers. Its pretty much just like the new PHP costs. If you get PHP for your phone and the full bundle is $11.99 your phone most likely has a $75 restocking fee. I am sure it is because of the cost of the phone. The Note 2 is a $700 phone where the GS3 is a $500 phone. I know the HTC One for PHP is $11.99. We were told to put the $75 restocking fee sticker on the phone for customers to know. Also if you look your re receipt it talks about it there as well. I think T-Mobile calls the $75 ones super phones where the $50 ones are called smartphones.
