March is open enrollment for Sprint TEP Insurance - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

http://newsroom.sprint.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=2522

no way
There is a non-refundable deductible ranging from $50 to $200 per approved claim for lost, stolen or damaged (physical or liquid) phones.
Screw that. Extended warranties are a cash cow for them and a bad deal for the consumer.

I was originally lied to when I signed up. They told me that I just get a brand new device if anything happens to mine. Screen broke, brought it in, and they asked for $100. I told them they never told me about any deductible but they insisted that I was lying. Fought it over and over, got to a higher up, they dropped it to $50, and got my new phone. **** Sprint. They wouldn't hire me because I was too honest. Once I get this new job I will gladly pay my early termination fee and ditch this B.S. and cannot wait!

I don't know.
I've gotten 3 phones replaced (broken screen, broken charging port, and obvious water damage) all without paying the deductible. Guess the people at my sprint store like me lol

My experience as well. Right now I have TEP AND asurion cuz asurion covers loss, while BB covers water damage, which TEP doesn't. . been trying to figure which one to cancel, but I know if I lose it, I'll mid asurion, if I drop it in the toilet, I'll wish I still had BB insurance. Either way, I lose.

The sprint tep covers water damage lol its any damage what so ever that's how I fried my phone xD literary a raining day and I continued to use my phone until it borked also its 11 a month but no other insurance covers theft just saying even if I did get it stolen paying 100 for theft compared to paying for a full phone for its price ,that's how I justifiy the 11 a month and you never know some sprint rep won't care about deduct and five it to you for free like they have twice to me xD

open
I think it's always open enrollment actually. I bought this phone couple months ago off craigslist for 160 and called to activate. The girl almost begged me to sign up for insurance.
When i got out of school i got a job selling appliances. Any extended warranty we sold we
got 28.5%. Good salespeople made much more selling plans than appliances.

I was told my deductible on the LTE EVO is $150.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app

You normally dodge a deductible when you deal with Sprint, in person. Over the phone, you'll be directed to use Asurion which 9/10 guarantees you'll be paying that deductible.
You can't avoid it (Asurion) if you've lost the phone & barely avoid it with water damage.

BB black tie works great IMO, no hassles, new device and no questions for $10mo.
Sent from my Evo 4G LTE using xda app-developers app

My previous post I typed I have TEP AND asurion. Oops. I meant TEP and BB black tie. Can't decide which to get rid of. BB has no deductible, but doesn't cover loss/theft. I found out the hard way. I lost my Evo 2mo after I bought it and I had cancelled my TEP and had BB insurance, had to buy a new Evo full price. When I did, I started asurion/TEP again.
Still haven't cancelled BB. I know I'm getting ripped off paying for both? I just can't decide which to keep.

Depends what you want fixed
just the touch screen digitizer i guess =(
they won't warranty you for that, you need insurance. if not, go buy a new digitizer and replace it yourself.

There is usually a deductible on that still, you are better off (as others suggested) hitting amazon or ebay and buying the screen and replacing it it is pretty easy.

well i think you're still payin a $175 deductible or something ridiculous, so you may as well just replace the digitizer yourself.
It's a $125 deductible. Even if you decided to file it on insurance tell them you lost it so you don't have to send it in. Keep the old one for spare parts or fix it one day and sell it.

AT&T is a $50 insurance deductible. Don't know where the high numbers come from which people are posting. I have had many phones replaced on insurance given I have 5 on my plan, 3 for the kids.

Did you go to a store or call the warranty dept? I just read a post in another forum where someone paid $100 to exchange a phone, and she should have only paid $50 if she called warranty dept. I'm calling them now to ask.

I stand corrected. My apologies. Business care told me when I bought this phone they should have told me the replacement cost is $125. Nobody in store mentioned it. Par for the course with AT&T I guess!

There's 2 tiers
Regular phones = $50 deductible
fancy smartphone = $125 deductible
I forget when they implemented it...within the past year i think. It used to be all $50.

What insurance do you have on your SGS2???

I'm trying to figure out what was best in terms of insurance on the SGS2. AT&T is like $5.99/m I believe and requires a $200 deductible. Best Buy (where I got the phone) is like $9.99/m a month w/no deductible. Are their any more options and which are you guys using. I'm bit of a klutz and possibly a misplacer at times lol...don't think I would dish out the the retail for another one...thanks in advance!!!

Squaretrade offers warranties with ADH for a one time fee, its $125 for Android phones if I remember right, but you can usually find discount codes to get it cheaper, its a $50 deductible.
Sent from my Toshiba THRiVE using Tapatalk
Insured with squaretrade for about 3 years. Usually can find 30% off codes. Bought my GS2 with a claim on my Infuse 4G. I guess they didn't have parts yet so they sent me $599.99 and took longer than 5 days so they refunded what I paid for the warranty as well.
There's a company out there that covers lost/stolen phones but I don't remember the name
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
I choose AT&T since it cover lost/stolen, that's my primary concern that I will leave the phone somewhere accidentally and forgot about it. Even though the deductible is $200, it beats paying $500 for anew one
OK thanks guys...squaretrade sounds kinda neat gonna look into it...but the Best Buy might be the best move because its automatically deducted from your account every month and it also covers lost/stolen/broken/water damage...and its no deductible and they give you a loaner until they get your claim filled...I had some Best Buy coverage on my Captivate I believe but the plan doesn't seem like the same one...Idk...but these devices are getting more and more costly and I just want to make sure I'm covered. It would suck to have anything less than this GS2 right now especially due to negligence. The att doesn't sound bad theoretically to me because its on my bill and I know I could possibly apply it to getting an upgraded device in the future if I ***** enough lol

I self insure. Cell phone insurance is a rip off.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
I don't have insurance, but so far all the phones I've had haven't gotten damaged or lost, aside from my first 3GS (I had 2). It was lost, didn't have any tracking on it, so I lost it forever.
The only "insurance" I have is Cerberus. It's a cheap, one time fee of 6-7 dollars USD.

So true. Had my Captivate well over a year and the only time I replaced it was when I had hard bricked it...and it was covered under the AT&T warranty (since I just told them it wouldn't turn on anymore). I kept it in a Body Glove skin which was great at shock absorbing...when I finally sold it it had no scratches or blemishes at all. It also was heavier than the SGS2 which helped me keep up with it in my belt pouch. This phone seems a lil fragile tho. I ordered a few rubber skins off Amazon and I plan on doing a little stress testing with each to determine whether or not I should even bother with the insurance at all.

That sucks you dropped your evo. I had mine without a case for a couple days but I went and picked up an otterbox defender today.
Can anyone link to anything that says the deductible is different then $100? I haven't heard this yet. I don't have TEP on my girls Evo LTE bc I don't do a ton of deving/modding on her phone like I do my own, but with my own I carry TEP because I go through two phones a year or so and it's worth it for me... Heard the monthly fee was going up but not the deductible.

Otter Box Defender is the only way to go. I bought one for my last Evo and will not own another phone again without one. Well worth the $50, cheaper than a deductible and it has to sustain one hell of an impact to cause any damage. The built-in screen protector works pretty damn good too.
It makes the phone bigger but I think it sits in my pockets better when I go to sit down. You know, not sliding down and weighing down your pocket when you are driving or sitting down to eat.

If you never used your protection plan once then u can go into the store and have them do a standard return the u get a prorated charge back. If you used it once then u can't get a refund but the protection is good for your phone for 2 years from date of purchase.
I bought it on my phone and I got rid of it in 6 months. I ended up getting $146 back. This was before I started working at best buy.

They sign you up for automatic payments from a debit/credit card. Now you just have to remember to keep $10/month in that account to pay for it

Sprint TEP question Lost EVO LTE

I have a few questions that I was unable to find answers to by searching XDA.
I have had my new EVO for about 2 weeks.
I lost my EVO within days of adding the Sprint TEP, does anyone know if there is a waiting period to file a claim? I read on another forum that there is 14 day waiting period for lost/stolen claims, but I don't want to call and have them void my insurance. Also, does anyone know if Sprint TEP is sending out brand new EVOs because of how new they are? I don't want to end up getting a similar device because they don't have any.
Thanks
My buddy added it to his the same day he used it on his og EVO about six months ago.

Not sure if this is legit or not.
I believe you were looking at my thread I was talking to sprint who was talking to asurion the asurion guy told her that it would take ~14 days and the phone would be new. I told her to put a note in my account that the phone should be brand new. The phone came in 2~3 days instead of the 14.

There is no waiting period to use TEP. Just an FYI, Asurion sometimes requests that you have a police report (within a certain period of time) in some cases of lost/stolen. Also, believe it or not, according to others, Asurion has Evo LTE refurbs in stock and are ready to fulfill your replacement needs. Good luck!

Sprint deductible $150?

Im curious if anyone was told to pay $150 for a replacement device thru TEP yet? The reason I'm asking is I am getting a like model phone (S3) because I'm done dealing with the data dropping/airplane mode toggle problem. I dont have insurance thru Sprint anymore since they CLAIMED the deductible wasn't going to be $150 and $11/month. With that said they are only charging me $50 and I have to send them my Evo and I didn't even buy the phone from them I purchased it at Wal-Mart on launch day. Is this normal practice or am I getting some kind of promotion/deal?
