so i finally got my prime back on track beacuse of the boot loop CWM 5.2.0.4 if not mistaking but for some reason is still flicking youtube n some other stuff and i restore it with jermaine 9.4.2.15.zip (STOCK ROM UPDATED)..is there a way i can take CWM out and the rest of the things back like normal i am planning to send it back to ASUS to see what they are going to say or eather a new one or fix it ? any help or advice here thnx
At this point in time there is NO way to relock bootloader.
they will know and it will considered outside its warranty regardless of whether something you did (software wise) caused the problem (ie even if it is caused by faulty hardware, main reason im still using stock just rooted).

I unlocked mine with no troubles on Thursday, that is to say 4 days ago.

I've had mine a couple of weeks and updated it to.21 then decided to unlock and root, of course i took the hard road but thanks to xda and all the great devs i was able to use the unlock tool, roll back to .15 root and so on
So I get the app installed. I agree to the black pop up box then I get a second page with an orangey warning exclamation point and other text but I don't see any option to execute on this page and I can't scroll down to select anything or click on the triangle.
What do I do from this screen? Am I unlocked or is it hanging?

Got device with .17 on it rooted with no problem.. same with registration tried apk v7 and 7.1 all i get is the network error previously mentioned. Have spent time getting things setup to my liking but until I have CWM installed I hate to do much more. Does anyone know of an alternative bootloader unlocker besides asus? And, does anyone have any confirmed news as to what asus is doing or thinking on this? Bought device 2Jun12. Thx!

I believe you have to be unrooted for the Asus bootloader app to work.
Hmmm don't recall seeing that but, no big deal to try it... let you know... nope wiped twice and installed v7 clean same error about network....
I unlocked two days ago, no problems at all.
Searched other forums and seems like a common yet erratic problem. I'm not a programmer myself ( linux cisco onetime MCSE )... but it appears there are ways to rewrite .apk filez and I hope one of our talented members can find an alternate method or fix for this one.. any takers?
I just unlocked the bootloader after getting the.28 update OTA. No problem at all. One point to remember when using the Asus unlock tool is that you have to be unrooted.
I tried from clean reset twice no root and got same msg. Firmware update says no update avail currently has build 9.4.3.17 US that it came with. nothing good is free if anybody here has a proposed solution I'm more than happy to contribute!
asus support
Well I sent asus support a description of my problem and got a reply to call a support center. They were very polite and listened to my findings after the expected warrantys gone if you tried this sermon... bottom line is this: it became clear that there is a serial number problem at asus they kept telling me mine was invalid even though I read it right off the unit to them. I pointed out that when Unit was registered online - no problem. Their only suggestion was to wipe unit download .29 and try again bad serial number not withstanding. No dice same error msg... have to wait till a modified unlocker is finished.

i don't know why people are saying this...
i unlocked mine well after i rooted it...absolutely no problems
i even specifically wanted to root it first...as unlocked the bootloader on some devices wipes everything..so i rooted, backed up my apps, then unlocked the bootloader..without a problem
but unlocking the bootloader (and consequently rooting) does not wipe anything so you're fine regardless
and as far as recently unlocking...i got one of the first primes and i JUST unlocked mine three days ago without a problem..*knock on wood*

I was fully rooted and running the .28 update but was unhappy with it. A few days ago, I unlocked my rooted .28 TFP with no issues. I am now a very happy TFP owner running Virtuous Prime Rom with Motley's 3.04b kernel OC'd at 1.7ghz and running great!

did the OP figure this out? tried reinstalling drivers (could only do windows default drivers), full wipe. about to try downloading the .28 f/w to my sd to flash/wipe it that way. i do NOT have the serial unknown issue and have had no issue with OTA's.
I did send it in for green camera and mura issues, but i'm nearly certain they did not replace my mo-bo

Hi all, I decided to finally take the dive a couple days ago to unlock my beloved prime and try out androwook and other custom roms that supposedly put stock to shame. However, I was unfortunately confronted by a crude and nasty message along the lines of:
Code:
An unknown error occurs, which may be a network connection issue.
Please wait and try again later
As usual, I unrooted, rebooted, and tried again. No luck.
I disabled and uninstalled ATP Tweak (sio scheduler/systune), replaced my modified dock keyboard files (browser mod, switched alt/search buttons), and tried again. No luck.
Factory reset from the settings menu. No luck.
Placed the .28 US update on my SD card, rebooted, and re-flashed the update. No luck.
Where does that leave me now? Locked and feeling imprisoned. I'm wondering if it is worth it to downgrade and try unlocking. So far, I have only seen one person have any success with this. Due to the potential brick risk, I want to stay away from this unless I know it will work. I also know that Asus asked for the MAC address of a prime owner with this issue, but that didn't go anywhere.
This seems like it may be an issue that is experienced by anyone that RMA'ed their tablet for whatever reason. I, personally, sent mine in for a green camera issue and mura, but do not think that they changed my motherboard.
I am also curious to see how many other people are having this issue. If it is sizable, I am willing to start a petition to Asus for them to support their unlock tool and fix this stupid error without an RMA. To that effect, please answer the poll above to let me gather some data on the unlock tool.
Thanks to everyone for your help and support that makes xda such an amazing community!
PS I don't want to see any "Asus sucks" posts. There are tons of other threads for that so please spare us
Additional info:
Have tried this on several different network connections.
Have not yet contacted Asus to see if they have my prime listed as "unlocked" already, but will do so sometime this week.
Logcat of running unlock tool results in this:
Code:
D/KeyBoxService(10158): === StatusCode: SC_UNAUTHORIZED!
D/KeyBoxService(10158): === OTA BEGIN
E/KeyBoxService(10158): === Connection to http://wvdrm.asus.com refused
D/KeyBoxService(10158): === Retry after 600 seconds.
D/KeyBoxService(10158): === OTA END
July 13th Update:
I have contacted Asus with this information. I learned something interesting. Asus has my tablet (s/n) listed as LOCKED. They also did not replace my mainboard when I RMA'ed the tablet. I also have not had the unknown serial number issue. Considering those were the 3 criteria a few of us had considered to be the reasons for not being able to unlock, I am now baffled.
I am going to continue communicating with Asus and hopefully push the matter a little bit more so that something happens. As I was told, "HQ is probably aware and working towards a fix". Let's hope that happens sooner rather than later.
September 5th update:
Seems that Asus HQ figured out a fix, but it requires an RMA. We'll find out soon if it actually works...
September 29th update:
Some of the members in this thread have sent their primes in for an RMA to fix the issue. The first prime back STILL has the problem. Asus HQ is looking into the matter...again...
Asus wants me to resend my tablet back to RMA to see if they can fix the problem. I'll see what they have to say, don't really want to RMA back. It's a software issue it seems to me, changing any hardware will just make it worse.
edit: Email was no help. Dumb. Stuck again! Yay

I found a tool for downgrading that worked pretty well, and when combined with Sparkys tool that will root you so easily on .28, the process of downgrading might be worth a try once you've done everything else.
I'm anxious to hear if anyone who's never rooted and has a serial number has ever had this problem.
I thought my tablet hadn't been unlocked correctly because of some issues and some of the people helping me troubleshoot and figure out the prime when I first got it told me to try running the unlock tool again and said i should get a response, but I always got the same network error. However I bought my prime second hand and it had been rooted before. Finally ended up doing some manual tests with ADB to determine if my problem was unlock related and it wasn't.
I had just gotten the prime, and people said even being unlocked I still shouldn't have gotten that network error. I just gave up after that, and have always wondered if it was related to it being previously rooted.
I can't unlock my tablet. I just don't get any error message at all. But I am 100% sure it's not unlocked.
No Problems here
I have a rooted 0.28, I did not root until after I got the 0.28 update.
I just ran the unlock tool downloaded from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510737
I had to use the dropbox downlown because the one from ASUS would not work.
Unlocked, no issues. No factor reset necessary, no removing root. Now i'm completely unlocked and ruined my warranty just for you guys.
Now i'm going to go install a custom rom.
Later.
Unlocking by a dummy
I unlocked a couple of weeks ago but it wasn't easy. Why? because I am half dumb and need reading glasses. It took me part of 2 days to figure out what was going on. I would get to the final scare screen that warns you that if you do this you are screwed forever and then I could not go any further. There were no buttons to click or agreement check boxes to check just the sad warning big as life.
Then I watched a video, the one with the hyper dude with braces unlocking his prime. And I realized I was missing the buttons on that warning screen. It occurred to met that I had amped up my font size so I could read my tablet without my reading glasses. This action made the font from the warning too big to fit the button on the screen. Went into settings, decreased font size, unlocked, never better.

No, never had to RMA. My device is from the US and I'm in Poland so I'm not sure if an RMA would work anyway. I've had it for a month and besides the left screen tearing issue, it works great!
I'm going to install Wooki first and see how that goes. TWRP is already installed and backup has been created. I'll report back if this fixes things. I'm going to try without doing a full wipe (cache and dalvik only). I don't really want to re-install everything.

From past experience, you should always do a full wipe especially if you want your prime to be performing well. Do a titanium backup of all your apps (the pro version is WELL worth the money) and you'll be up and running with an hour exactly how you were before. Good luck!

Yes, my experience with the HTC Desire tells me a full wipe is probably necessary, however I don't like titanium backup. It takes too long and it's easier just letting everything trickle in over the market. I've also found that, unless you're moving from 2.3 to 4.0.x clearing dalvik and cache usually works just as well. It's not like any rom formats the internal memory to use a different setup with better performance...though maybe that's not a bad idea.
BTW, when I said the one from ASUS wouldn't work, I meant it would not download. It just looping on my tablet to which browser it should use, and I eventually gave up and tried the other link.
Got my prime back from asus RMA no more chance to unlock. My prime was unlocked before send to RMA.
They changed the board or chip, when I did the RMA the .28 update JUST came out so I tried applying it before I sent it off. Worked, so it was updated. Then they sent it back after RMA and it was a March update, way back. Don't think they downgraded, but they did change something. Then no unlock at all (though I never tried beforehand, I imagine it would have worked)

I had .28 rooted and was able to do the unlock no problem. I had to download the app from a dropbox account as I was unable to download from ASUS's website.
The issue seems to be related to RMAs. I bought mine 2nd hand from a guy who got it from his boss, so theres no way of knowing if it was ever returned. It doesnt seem to matter on which firmware you are or if you are rooted or not.... All we (probably) have in common is the RMA factor. At least thats progress!
Hello everyone, so im a bit confused. I have my galaxy s i9000 and i flashed thousands of rom without caring knowing its flexible to get it back again, heck i soft bricked it like 5 times . Now my question is should i risk voiding my warranty and bricking my pime for rooting/flashing a rom on it. So i want to take your opinions on is it worth it( like for the galaxy s I had to do it to remove the stupid lag) but i dont have any lag on the prime, so should i risk it all??
Stay Cool
I'd hope that you'd be able to answer that question for yourself.
If you are unable to list several shortcomings and limitations of it being stock, then why are you even thinking of risking it?
Myself, I bought a Nook Color 18 months ago with the full intention of rooting. I wasted no time in doing so. Of course those things are virtually unbrickable.
The Transformer Prime, OTOH, well... not so much. I haven't felt a pressing need to unlock and flash the ROM.
Do what you will, but unless you can quickly rattle off at least half-a-dozen limitations of its current config, it seems like it's a waste of time to fiddle with it.
So, I'm in similar situation. I had 3 android phones and all rooted, unlocked and with custom roms, but with Prime it's different, I'm more affraid of bricking it, because it's more expensive than all of these phones together.
But I'm seriously thinking about it, the main reason is now ROOT (and it can stay for half-a-dozen reasons) because I'm running JB.
And the most annoying thing now is the camera. I have green camera bug on my Prime. Does anyone know from own experience, that this can be fixed after unlocking?
And sorry for my English

Can't say from experience as I've never had a camera problem, but I've read numerous posts and the green camera is always hardware. You may be able to verify by squeezing lightly around the camera and seeing if it clears up temporarily.
Well i have some reasons to root it and i like to flash roms nd stuff mostly for fun, more like a hobby. but as you said this is like more precious and costs more especially after hearing bout asus' custom services that they wont be able to help if anything happens...

I unlocked after letting my 1 year warranty expire. There aren't a ton of ROMs out there for the Prime atm, but it is worth it if you don't have a warranty to protect anyway.
The process of unlocking was painless for me. Downloaded the app, installed, it did its thing. I was on the newest JB OTA. No issues installing TWRP via fastboot.

Thats exactly my problem. For example the green camera bug (tested and it is hardware fault, only strange thing is, it started just after JB update). Let's be honest, Prime is not perfect and you can have some hardware issues, when warranty is quite useful.
@vaibha: And do you know any way how to downgrade from JB?
Just flash gingerbred or ics... Easy...

Thanks for your detailed tutorial
I think there is no way (functional) for downgrading from JB to ICS. Or even gingerbread... on Prime?... (I believe you just swapped GB and HC in your memory).
Of course I may be wrong, I hope I'm wrong. So you did you successfully downgrade? And if you did, how?

Hahaha true, but im pretty sure you can downgrade the prime easily, manually download the software...to sd car...cont.
I thought so, but tried it and it doesn't work. There are 2 threads about it somewhere.
As it is written in another thread: "You cant revert back to the ICS bootloader once you have flashed the newer JB bootloader..."

Dekxster, what subsonic says is right. You cannot downgrade to anything previous to jellybean if you haven't made nvflash backups while on ICS.
Also your green camera is 100 percent a hardware issue and if you haven't unlocked yet then return it for a free fix. If you are unlocked then you will normally have to pay but some people have got away with it. It all depends in what country you are in.
I figured this out, flumpster.
That is why I wrote, you can't downgrade, because I didn't make nvflash (I didn't post the rest of quotation, because I presumed, we don't have nvflash backup, if we are discussing about unlocking, which requires that) and that is why I wrote I don't want to unlock, because now I have hardware issue and they will fix it for free. I think I'll just wait one more year, when will my warranty expire, because who knows, what else might happen.
And are you guys using Hairy Bean? Is it good? Was it worth unlocking?
Because I don't know much about this rom, prefer CM on my phones.
Its worth unlocking if you are careful and dont mind risking hardware defect. A lot of people got a squaretrade or other 3rd party warranty. You can find a deal for $70 and get 2 years full protection...and then unlock without any risk what so ever.
Alright so new member here i have been using XDA to unlock and flash zip, kernals etc in android devices since 4 years.. i would like to thank this site :good:
Now straight to my point
Okay so I bought a Photon 4g 2 weeks ago and my bad luck its on 2.3.5 (I dont know if its factory 2.3.5 or OTA because i bought it from a friend who knows nothing about it) which means its bootlaoder is locked for good.. I did the ReservedOdm check and got "30000000000030003000100000000" which means =Electrify who performed OTA update to 2.3.5 and now stuck never unlocked) As the thread says.
Moreover I saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2072644 by @nickman529 and I was really shocked to see that a 45 pages thread with skilled people couldnt unlock the 2.3.5 version of MoPhon. (I did not read the whole thread but i guess you guys couldnt found a solution) So my question is still in 2014 there's no method to unlock this beastly phone? an updated android OS is a must for this phone. We should do something as there are hundreds of people still waiting for XDA guys to come up with a solution.
I am not a newbie in this developing thing nor I am a developer I know In's and outs of unlocking etc.
I would really appreciate if XDA skilled guys will work on this again atleast we can do something? unlocking a bootloader of a phone is not impossible right? just that we need to work again on this. I want to get this done. Thank You :good:
Some details of my phone:
I flashed superuser with "Photon Torpedo Direct" method so I have root enabled
Build: 4.5.1A-1 SUN254_13
2.3.5
Hope I will get some replies as this is my first thread on XDA

2.3.5
Hope I will get some replies as this is my first thread on XDA

i am afraid to tell you brother but there is no development under process of photon 4g the people on 2.3.5 are locked for good and its a misery for the developers too that they couldnt unlock it.. A replacement of another new model will be the only way to use new android versions lol :good:
check out Motorolla Moto G it has official upgrade of kitkat its affordable too :good:
photon
.. I've photon 2.3.5 and locked for sure.. hoping on dev to get a way out there..
come on guys I've got a few posts on here over the years about this lol I have a new account here since so I don't know where all those posts are.
sadly I have no clue what I did or how the heck I did it!
I bought the photon the day after it came out and used it for quite a while on sprint. I received the ota update to 2.3.5.
then when my contract expired I spent hours and hours and finally rooted and unlocked my phone and put it on straight talk. it was on the ota update so I was told I wouldn't be able to do it but somehow I did.
more recently I have a new issue with mine which is why I am back on here again but I am very disappointed I never had the chance to figure out how I did it.

brother we are talking about the bootloader unlock of photon 4g devices on 2.3.5 please clear that did you unlocked the bootloader or just unlocked your phone?? and whats your the problem you are facing now? let me know. I can help
I can't guarantee but I figured what I did would be called unlocking the bootloader. I do know I received the ota update as I remember having trouble with the phone after doing it so I was on 2.3.5 for sure. I do not remember what I did when unlocking it but it was completely factory plus the ota when I started and by the time I was done I had root access and I was running cm7 and I could put in my straight talk sim card and I had talk, text, mms, and data. that would be an unlocked bootloader if I'm right?
what I'm facing now is I get a message saying something about the modem did not start when ever I try turning the phone on.

if you have your photon with you right now then take a look at its bootloader open it and it must say UNLOCKED if not then your bootloader is still locked..
so the modem error comes and the mobile doesn't works?? I think its a hardware problem as far as i know
yea it does say unlocked in the corner of the bootloader screen.
I got the error when I tried flashing an update to my ROM. I don't know whether it flashed something that did that our if it was just coincidence that something went wrong with the hardware at the same time. I tried flashing it back to the old version and that did not fix the problem.

what really? it says unlocked that it means the bootloader is unlocked how the hell did you unlocked your bootloader on 2.3.5? you have to remember it brother?
I honestly have no clue this was only like the third phone I ever unlocked and I've done dozens since. this was back right after the ota came out.
all I remember is I spent days and days trying to figure it out. if I had another phone I might work on it again as that's a really nice phone but I don't really expect to ever land on one of them again.

I have an OTA-locked one that's fairly cosmetically beat up. New replacement battery. USB port cracked off just enough that normal USB cables work but car dock does not. Otherwise I *think* it's fine - I gave up on peetr's decrapped stock ROM, which is good I gotta say, and bought an unlocked one on eBay.
I'd give it to you free but I am literally sweating out my rent check. Would you be willing to part with $25 for it, includes shipping?
A friend brought me a photon of his he is wanting to use with straight talk Sim , It is on 2.3.5 ota I believe but don't know . Have tried to unlock the boot loader but keep getting (FAILED (remote: (00180001))) when I try to get the unlock key. It has root but does not register the straight talk Sim and I felt unlocking the boot loader would help me fix this issue but am finding I can't .can anyone help am open to any suggestions. Pls know though I am still learning how to use the adb, fastboot, and know little about rsd (can't get it to even pick up the phone)

Hi guys, I'm new to ARM devices, but I have a lot linux experience and a fair amount of Android experience, as I've done some device porting work at android-x86.org.
I was recently given a photon 4G with a locked bootloader, 30000000000030003000100000000
My question is, what is so special about the bootloader that it can't be replaced by another bootloader. I was just looking at the thread to put Arch Linux on the Photon, but that thread seems to have stalled and I can not ask any questions there because I do not have 10 posts yet.
I am guessing the kernel image cannot be replaced with a locked bootloader? I read the post by peetr_ about SBF's & CG's & signatures, but when are the signatures checked, at flash time or every boot? I dd'd the boot partition to /tmp/boot.img and pulled it to my linux workstation but I've not been able to mount it. Mount thinks it's NTFS, is that what a .smg is? NTFS in some sort of container?

Sure thing, I starred the notice of this in my email program and will get back on this thread next time I go thru my backlog if I haven't heard from you.
Funny how we're all in some way participating in all this work that manufacturers should've done, and a lot of us are broke.

Forgive me if I'm telling you stuff you already know, but here are a few random tidbits of info:
The OTA update blew a hardware fuse which somehow prevents bootloader unlock by any known methods
The only ROMs that can be flashed with the bootloader locked are ones using the stock kernel as-is, like peetr's ROM, so I think your guess about the kernel image becoming set in stone is correct.
Don't know anything else but I also have an OTA-locked one which I could run stuff on and get you output, if you want it, and an unlocked one (pre OTA update) running CM9. As long as it doesn't mess up my devices I could provide you with debug info.

I will try an remember to get back to you
there is one thing I was just thinking about that I do remember thinking about afterwards. whatever I did that made it work may have stemmed from what I later discovered was a corrupted file. I remember downloading file after file and trying to flash dozens of different files. every time I was getting all sorts of errors. suddenly tho I got a different error and after that when I would try throwing commands at the phone I would get completely different responses. my memory is very limited of it all but I thought I was completely screwed.
somehow tho I suddenly had a phone with the pre ota software on it.
whatever exactly it was that I messed up I have no clue without trying to re create the story.

Hey guys. Nickman529 here. Sorry I haven't ever updated anything on that thread. I don't have the MoPho anymore but I'd be willing to start up development if someone would wanna send me one or donate the PayPal funds for such. I hear your cries.
