So yesterday I flashed the photo sphere that actually worked but then I flashed the zip containing 4.2 clock, keyboard and photo sphere that is not functional and replaced the functioning camera... if there a way to "un flash" the camera so I can flash the functioning one cause I tried to flash it again thinking it would simply replace it but no dice ( don't know/ want to mess with build prop) or should I just restore to a couple days ago?

the photo sphere camera is a camera.apk. just go to system/app delete camera.apk . then go back in and flash the photosphere camera you had working. Should have no issues.
The regular camera comes up and not photo sphere...or is that photo sphere?I don't want to mess with the stock camera making sure I don't delete it by mistake

if you have both installed you can use the archive explorer to look inside of it and see the name of the photo sphere app that you want to install. Also the name of the one to un-install.

The attached camera app, MIUIcamera-signed.apk will let you see the MIUI Camera on CM7.
Installation is simple, just install end enjoy!
Thanks to csdj92 for figuring out that I had to use the signed version and thanks to kaos217 for posting the signed apk (attached) (originally posted here)
If you're like me and hate having multiple "default" camera apps, using an app such as Root Explorer or Astro File Manager you can go to system/app/ and rename Camera.apk to something else, or delete it all together
Cheers!
Okay, so before anyone on here insults me for asking this, I've tried searching it out and I've found that other people have been able to do this (specifically, on the Evo) but I haven't been able to get it going.
Since MIUI & CM7 are both AOSP build, shouldnt I be able to remove CM7's camera and replace it with MIUI's? I don't like CM7's camera implementation, but I LOVE MiUI's camera.
From what I gathered in this thread, I had to backup the stock camera app, delete it. Rename the MIUI Camera to camera.apk, place it in the system/app/ folder. Then I had to long press on the camera, set permissions to 644 (read) and reboot.
I reboot but I get an error saying Com.Miui.Camera has force closed. Any help?
Attached is the MIUI Camera APK
Try downloading the signed apk on the second page from the OG post. I tried with the one on your post got the error, then tried with the signed apk and it worked fine.

I tried the signed APK and it doesnt work either.
Scratch that, when I tried restoring with Root Manager it or pushing it via ADB, it didn't work, but when I installed it like a regular package, it worked just fine. Disabling the CM7 camera now
Thanks

Thanks, this is great. Works with the shift-deck rom and has touch to focus enabled.
Awesome awesome awesome. I dig it. Probably my least favorite thing about CM7 was the fugly AOSP camera. Thank you!

I think there is a newer version of MIUI camera available... I'm gonna try to sign the new version and release it.
Thanks man, been looking for a better camera since I left all sense behind.

I never said that AOSP's camera was good either. I like MIUI's camera.
What a real shame about the camera, and also the shocking battery life off 7.2!
i am going back to 2.3.6. I had a better time with that.
Any solution to use Quickpic with stock camera apps? It seems like only stock gallery can preview the photos taken from stock camera apps. Currently using rooted stock rom (2.3.4).
Huhwut? I don't know of any reason that shouldn't work. I'm using the stock camera and QuickPic combo since forever ago. I'm on CM7 though, not stock. Do you by any chance have some misplaced .nomedia files?

Thanks! Photosphere works but the gallery and camera give me constant Google Play Services" FC's...
is this because the built.prop should say "Galaxy Nexus"??
I remember from doing this on my Rezound.

You have an early version of the port that was missing some supporting files. The port was updated several times to get everything working. You'll get a ton of FC message as you use it, but everything works with the latest version: http://www.mediafire.com/?qrji31tlyll9ccn
(Don't report the FC issues to to Google Play. It's not even supposed to be on this device and the port works perfectly fine without FC's on other devices. Besides, you'd be putting in a TON of reports ).
Can I just flash the updated file over what I have our do I need to delete the one I already flashed first?

I flashed it and have it working on top of sense camera and gallery. It works, you get a ton of errors with the JB camera so it is nice to have a "working" camera and a "show off" camera.

Just flash the update. It will write mostly the same files and then add some supporting files to get it working. Again, there will be MANY FC's...some even when just using the Play Store. They do kinda get annoying. Just a heads up...
Just tried it. sweet!
Okay so I flashed the new camera and I can take photo sphere pictures but I can't view them.. Any ideas, I'm also on stock

I had this same issue. Except, I did not delete the original gallery. I downloaded the ICS camera and ICS gallery from the play Store and haven't used the camera and gallery from the ROM. Works like a top.

Well I dont know what gallery you are using, but do like Tally said and get camera ICS from the play store. Its pretty much the same camera the ROM comes with.
Thats what i have is ics gallery

I would SBF to to start fresh and play it safe. Flash your ROM and wipe your cache files. Then download your camera and gallery. Don't go deleting anything.
Also with your file browser, i.e. Root Explorer , look where your pics are stored and make sure they are still there.

If I am understanding this right, you currently have a working camera and a working gallery, correct? If this is the case, are you able to get to ANY gallery from the camera app? If so, and you are just wanting to change the gallery app it opens, then you need to go into your phone settings and select apps. Scroll to whatever gallery app it is currently opening and select it. Then tap on the button that says "clear defaults". After that, go into your camera and open the gallery from there. It should pop up with what app you want to open. Select the gallery you want and then tap "Always".
Thats the best I can do with what you are giving us. If nothing works, do like Tally says again and SBF and start over.
I think what he is saying is: The gallery preview, or last pic taken, in the bottom corner of the screen- when you click on it from the camera view....nothing happens or it comes up a blank gallery.
That's what my X2 was doing.

If thats the case, maybe its the app he is using. He said hes using Gallery ICS. I dont think thats the same as Camera ICS which I think is a direct port from the AOSP camera.
Casper, I dont know how advanced you are with this but you can also open up the zip of whatever ROM you are using and take the original gallery.apk and place it in system/app/ and change permissions to rw-r-rr-- then reboot
You shouldn't have deleted the original gallery so you have two choices 1fix in Rom zip very technical but not that hard with a little searching and research 2sbf ad the ics gallery then either freeze the other app or try to remove just make sure you nano before doing anything
don't be scared it's only a phone

Try searching for the apk. I know when JB was released there were a lot of zips containing the camera along with the clock.
