Hi I am from LG-P500 forum, new to this awesome community of S2 owners. My friend has a I-9100 (16GB) version, but when he upgraded to ICS (using Kies) his internal storage shrunk to 4.11 GB and he is unable to see why? Now we have upgraded to JB but still the same problem. He is not rooted. Any suggestion guys?
I just came to know that we might need to just flash the right pit file(16GB). Can anybody guide how to flash a pit file without firmware?

There are dozens of threads on how to flash pits, search ans learn. Be careful though, it you mess up the pit flash, chances are that your (or is it you friend's) phone will be bricked permenantly.

Hi,
I have a little, maybe silly question, i was reading a thread of Odia, and i just want to understand that if I use .Pit for flashing and tick Re-Partition, do I need to flash a Stock ROM (Im ony using stock roms) that comes with bootloader? or can I get the latest ICS Stock Rom from intratech or sammobile and flash it with the .Pit ?
Resuming;
Will my bootloader get erased in this process?
Will all the system files be erased because of the re-partition? (Like when we create a new partition in Windows and everything that was on HD gets lost forever lol) ??
Thank you in advance ! =D

No. Never click repartitions or play with pit files. Judging by you not knowing how Odin is spelled, you do not know how to use it

Odia is a user here on xda, but your point is still valid.

Yeah.. i was talking about a thread started by Odia (Xda member) in developers area... I cant post there yet coz im new here in this forum, but i read it very often since i got my SGSII in 2011..
We can't play with .Pit but We should use when phone is bricked and u cant go on recovery mode (only in download mode), that happens when Nand-rw is broken, and thats can only be fixed re-partitioning your phone with .Pit.
Now my question is.. re-partitioning will reset my bootloader so I will have to flash a Rom with one or not..?
Thank you by ur concern anyway ! =D
Ps: Judging is not cool..
Hey, if u got here in this thread and has the same question as I did, i got the answer..
After reading this thread (Guide)
I found that the bootloader is NOT erased when using .Pit and re-partitioning, bootloader is only replaced if u flash a new one using Odin. So there is no need to use .Pit and re-partition with a bootloader at the same time.
If u are new and dont know what .Pit files are or how to use them, read carefully the thread i linked above.
Thank You to everybody who read this post and took a minute thinking about the answer !

Use Odin, but why do you need to flash with a pit file? Did you already try flashing back to stock already with the regular recovery stock rom? And one more thing what GP 4.0 do you have? Is it the USA, International, European or Korean one?
Anyways go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720457 download odin, the stock roms are there as well.

I already tried to flash to stock rom, but chaoschris told everyone to restore to stock with pit, if you accidentally wiped your data or system.

Yea basically you need to have your pit. If you don't have it, according to your device, download it here:

Yes, I have my pit and everything. But I searched online and a lot of people have bricked their devices and stuff. So can someone post instructions on how to flash it without having all these risks?

There sometimes I think this: why did I make an all-in-one thread when nobody's check on it and then after complains where are all the stuff over and over (no offense for you as you're new here) anyway here's the full recovery link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850
Download the package corresponding to your device and ensure you have the good pit.

On any forum I have ever been to no matter what the topic...your sticky is probably the most informative, best formatted thread I've ever seen. It's impossible to prove it, but I'd say the lack of posts these days is evidence of how good the resources are. Countless people are coming here with a problem they thought was World ending, see your sticky, peruse the offerings, get exactly what they need, and leave happy.
No muss. No fuss.

I made it for these people too. I think I should update it (there's some new threads here). But let's stay on topic.

Actually Zaclimon I have it bookmarked on my browser lol. It was one of the first things I found and it helped a lot. I usually suggest going to it when people ask how to flash, where are stock roms, and etc . I think that the thread should stay permanently at the top of the Q&A section.
Hi,
I am on stock ICS 4.0.3 , baseband version DDLPA, kernel version XWLP7. I recently rooted my phone following instructions on XDA. Was successful in doing that. Somehow i am not satisfied with the overall experience using ICS 4.0.3 and i would like to go back to stock Gingerbread 2.3.6.
I have searched and gone through a number of posts here and i must say that they are helpful However, there are some questions for which i could not find answers, hence posting this thread.
1) What are the points i need to keep in mind before i downgrade to 2.3.6?
2)Would i be able to get a zip file for stock 2.3.6 which i can flash using CWM? I dont want to use ODIN, though its an option i would consider.
3) I read in one of the post that i would lose root. Would be better is someone confirms once again.
4) I would like to root again once am on 2.3.6 and would like to do it using CWM. Where would i get the required files?
Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Gokul

1) do choose the correct firmware(ginger bread) from sammobile.com.
2) u wont get stock GB firmware that can be flashed thro CWM for sure, so the only option for u is to use ODIN.
3) yes once u flash a stock firmware ICS or GB ur going to loose root as the firmware will unroot ur phone automatically.
4)after installing the GB rom u fallow the earlier method u used to root ur phone back and install CWm.
Mobile ODIN
I did it several times... I guess the best way is using the Mobile ODIN, cause you will not loose its root.
But if you haven't the Mobile ODIN, you must use the desktop version (pay attention cause you must apply a stock rom which contains the PIT file and check the re-partion option).
It's easy find on Google.
No need for pit file I believe. Only a PDA file and CSC (optional). Remember to format data and /system from cwm before flashing via Odin.

hey buddy please do not recommend PIT file to people who arn't aware of the same, since a wrong pit file choosen will cause issue with there sdcard(internal) for sure
Okay now I have installed this Unofficial 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Kernel XXLS6 on my S2 , and couple of days ago I heard that the official Firmware is to be available on Kies in the next few weeks, so what I did is I downloaded the Stock 4.0.3 ICS through searching my country's Rom on Samfirmware.net and it was a 500+ Mbs *.tar.md5 file.. So I want to know do I just flash it on PDA through Odin? I'm having doubts because when I flashed this unofficial firmware I'm having now I actually had to use 3 files the MODEM, the CODE and the CSC. SO I just need to know is that one file just enough or not?
This is the name of the File: I9100JPLPF_I9100OJPLPC_I9100XXLPX_HOME.tar.md5
Thank you.
Yes. All you need is the md5 and flash it via PDA section.

Rom recommendations are forbidden here (and anyone who makes one in this thread is getting slapped). Go to the development sections, read some threads (first page/last 10 pages will give you the info you need), flash & try some roms out like everyone else here.
