[Q] Menu button remap with CM10 - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

Is there any way to remap the recent apps button to a menu button using the CM10 preview? It seems that the original mod doesn't work anymore, and I tried replacing the build.prop file with the one currently on my phone, but that didn't seem to do anything. Currently I'm stuck with no way to access menu functionality, any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

You should be able to do that in Settings/System. Can't remember the right spot after that as I'm not running the CM10.1 preview anymore.

[SOLVED] Keyboard gone after rooting :(

Ok, as the rooting thread is getting overwhelmed with users not being able to find their correct deviceID, not being able to put java in their %path% or just having problems due to a 64bit version of java or whatever else could go wrong
All other valid questions are getting snowed in their so I thought i might be better to get a new thread to make sure it will get answered
After having my x10 succesfully rooted I no longer have my keyboard on any field, I also tried with long pressing the menu button (which normally would show or hide the keyboard) but with no success . Anybody have a clue how I can get my keyboard back again?
I did enable the HTC_IME btw in the language settings.
I had the same problem, just installed older version, v25 i think, and it works..
Hmmmm for some weird reason it just appeared lol.... I had opened up google search but didn't close as I wasn't getting the keyboard but just had put the phone down for a while as I needed to do some other stuff. When I got back the phone was showing the HTC keyboard and it now opens very quickly every time I go into a field or it at least responds on my long pressing the menu button while I'm in a field
Just install the HTC-IME again

in case it wasn't installed correctly you can also find it in your step4 apps folder from the root package, it's called com.htc.clicker.apk. Copy it to your SD and mount the sd back on the phone and install it from there.
Also make sure HTC_IME is selected in your country settings and text.
Thank you guys, found it in google and installed it. Keyboard is fine.

Power button Camera

In the Ultimate Kang Bang there use to be a feature to use the power button as the camera in the camera application. Apparently from all the other roms and things i've tried, I cannot get this ability back. Is there anyway to do this hack again?

Have you tried to replace the Camera.apk with a newer one that supports the power button?
Well I found one hacked camera apk but it says it works for froyo and also my clockworkmod is too new for it, and when I try to install it from My Files in the apk instead of zip, it says it cannot install.
So basically I guess I need a link to a newer camera apk that works for gingerbread and cwm 3+
Well what ROM are you using right now? You could just download a ROM that features the power button shutter and extract the Camera.apk and put it in your own system/apps....wipe your dalvik cache and you should be able to see if it works out for you.

[Q] How to Swap the Menu & Back Soft Key Buttons?

Hey XDA,
I have small hands and would like to know if its possible to swap the menu and back soft key buttons?
Moving the back soft key to the right and menu button to the left.
I have small hands unfortunately. :cyclops:
I did stumble upon this mod but I was unable to save the file with ES Explorer and I'm rooted.

Thanks in advance
I think you can do it with Xposed module. I think it`s called One-Handed Mode for all devices, there should be lots of modules like this anyway.
I was looking for more of a flash zip to replace the buttons not an app.
I used the Xposed Module "Xperia/AOSP NavBar Buttons" to switch them around.

"Xposed is a framework for modules that can change the behavior of the system and apps without touching any APKs. That's great because it means that modules can work for different versions and even ROMs without any changes (as long as the original code was not changed too much). It's also easy to undo. As all changes are done in the memory, you just need to deactivate the module and reboot to get your original system back. There are many other advantages, but here is just one more: Multiple modules can do changes to the same part of the system or app. "
Xposed it`s not just an app. Any modifications that you do can be easily reverted back, which is better than the risky flashing way.

Help with remapping menu/recents

Hello!
I updated via OTA today to 4.4.4 AT&T, and for some reason, modifying the /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/settings.db APP_KEY_SWITCH_BEHAVIOR to "1" from "0" doesn't remap the recents button shortpress to menu.
I was able to do this prior to the OTA, but for some reason this doesn't work with the 4.4.4 ROM.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
You could use Xposed to do this.

Which module? I've tried looking for one, but can't find one that does this (I have Sense 6 Toolbox - won't do it).

This would be because data partition is not as accessible as it was...

Makes sense - thanks!
Are there still settings somewhere other than the data partition that I can modify?
I tried Xposed Additions, but it wouldn't work (couldn't tap the softkey to remap).
As far as I know not to my knowledge....until xposed is reworked may have to deal with things as is

CM13 and Titanium Backup - no Menu button - build.prop changes?

I am using the nightly CM13 ROM. Since I bought my OnePlus X I have used Titanium Backup to restore things. One thing which has perplexed me is that by default on the OnePlus X there is no Menu button on the Titanium Backup App.
I have discovered that enabling the on-screen navigation bar via settings and rebooting that the Menu button appears again. One is then left however with both the soft and inbuilt buttons which seems rather pointless. It is also possible to do a tweak in the build.prop which achieves the same result - here
Does anyone know of a more specific build.prop tweak that will just bring back the Menu button please? I have also tried the long press action for the Home button to open the Menu. However coming from another phone where this was not necessary means that this action is not instictive.
Not sure about build.prop but I used Xposed module 3dot menu mod for stock OOS 2.2.1 just to get menu button in Titanium backup. Worked there, don't know does it work with Marshmallow.

Did the same! Could the OP please confirm 3 dot menu xposed module works in cm13? I'm thinking about changing to official cm13 nightlies.

the 3dot menu module gives a bootloop with CM13.
but there's a different one I've been using for a while, MenuBeGone.
Works like a charm
