[Q] XU Sudden possible brick? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Phew.
Okay guys, I'm kinda of shaky at the minute, so please bear with.
Phone: ST25i
ROM: XperiaPremium http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130880
Problem: I was using my phone just fine today, not doing any dangerous flashes or installing ROM's that FC or don't work. Just using it as a phone . About 1hr ago, i exited an app, and my screen froze, just as was it about to load Homescreen icons and layout. Tried to drag down status bar to see if XperiaHome had frozen, nothing happened. Waited, and nothing happened. So, as you would do, I removed the battery and put it back in.
Now, when i turn on my phone. it freezes on the FreeXperiaProject logo. Nothing. No LED Bar lighting up white as it usually does, or just booting it. I left it for 10 mins on FXP, no luck. Since then i have removed the battery and not put it in since.
I have not tried any Fastboot or Recovery combinations yet, or Charging, as i wanted to wait until expert advice.
if you have any other questions, state of battery or signal, I will be on here. Please help however you can!
Thanks faithfully in advance, R

But here's the thing. With my FXP kernel, if i want to enter CWM, when it says FXP, the LED bar turns white for 3-4 secs, in that time you press Vol. Down repeatedly to enter it. I have tried pressing it WITHOUT the LED Bar on, but it doesn't do anything.

Clockworkmod installation how to for windows / *nix

THESE FILES ARE ONLY FOR THE VERIZON FASCINATE
THESE FILES HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED ON ANY OTHER SGS PHONE BY ME
THESE FILES WILL PROBABLY NOT WORK FOR YOUR PHONE IF IT IS NOT A VERIZON FASCINATE
First, download and install the samsung drivers found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=779238
Then download odin from here: https://sites.google.com/a/imnuts.net/android/update-to-dj05/Odin.zip?attredirects=0&d=1
Then download the clockwork package from here: http://goo.gl/HELdr
If you have a lag fix installed, remove it. This is my opinion, and is completely optional. But i do not recommend the lag fixes, as the ones that install / work on the fascinate do nothing really, just wait for voodoo port
Then:
Put phone into download mode.
-Turn off phone
-Pull battery
-Press vol down button while plugging into computer
-Should show a yellow triangle
Open odin on pc
-Odin should show a yellow bar with a com port showing that it detects your phone
Click "PDA" button and select the CWMrecovery.tar you downloaded earlier
Click start
This will reboot your phone when complete. This flashes both the kernel and the recovery partition to enable you to flash update.zips signed with test keys. You will need to download Rom Manager from the market and select flash Clockwork Mod and select "fascinate"
To use clockwork, you can reboot recovery and Rom Manager, or cold boot into recovery (power off phone, power back on while holding both volume keys). If you cold boot into recovery you need to select apply update.zip and it will launch ClockworkMod.
Optional: ClockworkMod update.zip file (place this in your sdcard's root, and only download this if you cannot get into rom manager) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/Fascinate Files/update.zip
If this post has helped you, please consider reading this:

Big thanks to lilinser / dkcldark; koush; humancyborg, namebrandon, geeknik, and many others that were testing and constantly flashing their phones!
And without ludeboy, well, i wouldnt even be able to get into download mode to fix my phone in the first place
Thank you!
I didn't pull the battery, just turned the phone off while holding the volume down button. Maybe I should have, as it is stuck on the Nandroid backup on Linux.ex2.
Edit, spoke too soon. I unplugged the USB cable, and is finished updating. Bring on the kernels! I want to see what this does clocked.
If you do a Nandroid backup with the lagifx installed it takes a LONG time
edit: I have done all of my odin work with the battery in and have had 0 problems
also remember, if you try to boot into recovery and you dont see it. FLASH THE RECOVERY IN ROM MANAGER TWICE.

Yes, nandroid backups will take a LONG time to complete if you are using a lagfix. I would start removing the lagfix now, we have something much much better planned for you guys.
And pulling the battery isnt necessary, just insures that new people get it done right, eliminates some questions / problems.
Removed lagfix, and confirmed that everything here works.

stock roms can be found in my odin restore thread, at least as close to stock as we can get right now.
Thanks ya'll, you guys are awesome!!!!!!!
So I have a question....may be a dumb one....but why is it called Odin? Is that Samsung specific? The reason I ask is Odin was a code name for the 9550 storm and so it confuses me. Thanks and sorry for off topic.
success
it worked perfectly as described...
i removed lagfix first
ran ROM Manager (premium i flashed CWM twice, just to be sure...
i backed it up in ROM Manager.. when i rebooted to recovery from RM i got an MD5 checksum error when trying to restore..
I then ran a backup while in recovery.. during that backup i got no /sdcard/.android_secure found but it seemed to complete.
I used restore created from nandroid and it completed error free. (tho it did take a while, even with no lagfix (lots of data, apparently))
My phone booted just fine afterwards.... but it did sit for a while at the VZW splash screen. it made be nervous.. but i was patient
THANK YOU!
EDIT: In RM... i renamed the backup that i made in CMR and then chose to restore... it booted into CMR as expected and started restoring... completed successfully.
when it completes booting... i get a system alarm tone that doesnt go away until i use the notification pulldown... it did after both times i used the recovery.
Now that we have clockworkmod we can remove apps as long as we backed up right? I was getting rid of some bloat but stopped before i went to far. Sorry for sounding like a noob

Copying files from phone to PC was Killing Me
Okay, i have a serious question
First of all, yes i have read in TONS of articles, blogs, and many forums about the problem i have, and it could be useful for everyone if we get sorted out.
See, my phone has locked bootloader. even if i unlock it with s1tool, it wont enter fastboot mode (because fastboot mode is disabled, and no one knows how to enable it apart from paying someone with stool or omnius. and YES, I DID THE PROCEDURE PRESSING THE CORRECT BUTTON AND EVERYTHING, IT'S NOT ABOUT ME NOT KNOWING HOW TO FASTBOOT). so, even if i unlock my bootloader, i cannot flash kernels because i can't enter fastboot mode.
BUT!
My phone is rooted, which means I can flash roms and practically anything that's not a kernel through recovery mode (x-parts) in zip files, right? So, here's my question:
What if I extract the contents of the kernel IMG file, and then make a flashable zip file out of it? Would it work to flash my kernel? I would have tried it before asking, believe me, but I do not know how to extract a IMG kernel file
Thanks in advance

Whether it works or not ,IDK ,You should Ask some Dev whom works with Kernels ,I guess there's a reason why in sony devices we Always use .img files instead of .zip when it comes to kernels
Anyway
to Extract IMG Files You can try The following programs (Windows)
Alcohol 120% , UltraISO , Nero
you don't have to buy anything ,you can work it out with trial :good:

i would pay for it to be unlocked, really, but i live in Chile and no one knows **** about anything around here. if anyone could do it for me, i could make a bank transfer or something since i don't (and can't) have a business card or something like that (because of the ****ty laws around here, requiring people to win lots of money before getting a credit card or stuff like that).
anyone knows what can i do? ):

i stated in a previous post that i did the correct procedure to enter fastboot, so again, here's what i do/did:
-before everything, i installed busybox, correct fastboot drivers, correct phone drivers, proper adb drivers, etc
-flashed some roms with both flashtool and cwm, so my cable is not the problem, neither is my cellphone hardware since i can flash stuff
-many, many times, and in many, many different ways i turned off my phone, pressed the menu key and without letting go the menu key i connected the usb cable (also tried vol up, vol down, home key, etc)
-never heard any "connected hardware" sound from windows
-never got the blue light for more than 2 sec, then it started charging the phone instead, with green light
so yes, I DO KNOW THE PROCEDURE, really, i'm not that noob you know, been trying this for months actually
that's the problem, because i've tried everything and nothing seems to work, so looks like i gotta pay someone with wotan server, se tool 2, omnius or something like that, but here in chile there is NO ONE, and i really mean NO ONE who knows even what those programs do

i cannot unlock via the official way (sony site, right?) because my phone says "unlock bootloader allowed: no", so it won't let me (won't enter fastboot anyways)

rebuilding back to ftf is not possible usually they are cooked by the developers and ziped file by signing it so tht u can flash through CWM recovery
if u know any other way than this please post the link to this thread so tht it will help in future
I think this thread should be in Xperia threads as a sticky since ftf files r more or less found only in Xperia line up...

[Q] Erased system data, need help. tried flashtool showing not rooted

Yesterday I accidentally erase my phone’s system data from xrecovery after that I can see only initial SE logo. I tried with flashtool and 2.1 firmware but seeing same screen. From flashtool it shows “not rooted” but after couple of other message messages it shows connected as flashmode. Any help appreciated.
From forum and flashtool documents it mentioned to select wipe user data, but when I select ftf file from flashtool wipe section doesn’t have any select check box.
my phone is Xperia X10. had android 2.1 service provider at&t.

Thank you for your advice. I tried SEUS it showed "No update available for your phone" I also tried with PC companion (repire mode) it showed "No software available for your phone".

Just download x10's stock firmware & install it using flashtools app.(read guides first)
You soft bricked your phone by formatting system (recovery is removed because it's installed in system partition)

He is on stock kernel so recovery is wiped too.
On custom kernel recovery is inside kernel so doesn't remove by formatting system

Before today's mission I update Java in my machine, used a fresh copy of flashtool and flash my phone with your given rom.

Thank you so much for your help, advice and guidance. With 2.3.3 rom it worked even though at flash tool it showed not rooted. One difference I have seen one difference between 2.1 generic rom which I gave in my previous post ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1749426) and gamingwiz's given 2.3.3, the difference was 2.3.3 had cache wipe option. I don't know that made any difference or not.
Thank you again.

Doesn't work for me..
When I install Cwm.zip and press home +touch screen it rebooted back in Android.. I tried doing the same with volume up, but it then reboots into the original kernel..
it's work for me...
So, during the installation of cwm.zip, I repeatedly press home and touch the screen. Then it moves to cwm 5. After that, I install the cwm 6 (update.zip).
Thank you shaaan.
Okay it works now..
You have to repeadly press home and touchscreen..
Thanks shaan . I used your CWM to flash the Kirillos13 Riple effect and to do a backup and works ok.
Some time is dificult to start the cwm 5 recovery , I do it presing all the buttons including the home button and the down part of the screen at the same time and normally cwm 5 starts.
when i try to install my rom the phone reboots

I think you need to change the line in updater script that has /dev/block/mmcblkXpYY/system
Edit:
Oh right.. check the rm command maybe its one of the causes. I have a different way to deodex my phone without recovery. If we get permanent recovery then I will make my own rom again but as of now, I have no idea what to do with the script

The procedure is a little bit problematic, to be honest.
Stock recovery is having a bit of an issue when it comes to mounting internal SD (eMMC).
...Then there's CWM 5, that has issues mounting either. I had to throw in an SD card, then mount eMMC - which in fact did not mount eMMC but external SD.
why is it after i flash this.. i followed all your instructions even the tapping the screen.. and when i successfully installed it then reboot and try to go to cwm recovery why is it it comes again in stock recover and not cwm recovery? i try do install it again and it always turn back to stock recovery? have anyone expiernced this?

Ikr! The problem is a messed graphics file. So the issue is framebuffer related. Make a new recovery. Use the updated graphics.c and it will work directly.!

[Q] XPERIA P update 6.2.A.0.400 problem

Hi all,
I've had this problem for a while now, but I've been ignoring it, untill now.
Everytime I try to download this JB update (6.2.A.0.400), everything goes smooth. But as soon as I try to install it, my phone shuts down and tries to install it. some sort of gift box pops up for a second and it boots again. Followed by the message that the update could not be installed.
I've searched google for a solution, but could not find one, so now I'm asking you.
TIA
-Alex

Flashtool drivers work for me on windows 7, I think,, can't be sure because I have PC Companion installed and I had problems with them at the begging and tried many different solution and can't remember which of them fixed the problem.
Back then when I connected the device, flashmode I think, while looking at device manager, a device cam up with yellow icon then disapeared after a secong or two.

BTW why do you chose to upgrade to 6.2.A.0.400 and not 6.2.A.1.100?

Right click the driver in device manager and select properties, you will see the diver version, if you click details you can see versions of each of the 3 files of the driver.
Do you have latest PC Ccmpanion installed? Maybe this can fix the issue or might even download 6.2.A.1.100.

I think it's the version I have.
To root the phone I don't think you need flash moed, just fastboot and usb debbugung, but you will need it if you want to reflash or upgrade the firmware.
Sorry I just looked and you do need flash mode, I remembered it was just the kernel but it's an ftf.
