[headset] Sond/ Music Issues? - HTC One X+

I have a strange Problem with my HOX+ its unlocked and rooted (but with shipped rom) and whenever i listen to music over the headset, the music stops randomly. It happens on several players and always the beats audio icon in the notification bar disappears. Is anyone experiencing that too?

I'm having the same problem. It only seems to happen when the screen is locked for me.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium

I've got the same problem too. I'm using viper rom. Happens when plugged in to my amped car sound system via AUX cable. Really sucks when your sound is being amplified and it drops out like that. Kinda ****s up the amplifier/speakers a little too.
Can we get any devs to look into this?
Also, can someone test to see if this issue still happens when using Llior's CM mod? Are you on international or ATT?
I'm on ATT.

Try to disable Power Saver mode. It surely can be related to this.

Yes I have discovered that disabling the power saver mode helps this. But it still happens sometimes. Someone pointed out that it happens less with the screen on. Maybe I should try to edit the minimum clock speed when the phone is in sleep mode? Viper sets it to 50 Mhz. Not sure what I should try setting it to.

If you could try this simple and safe hack : Click!
Worked out for many bugs. Let us know the result please.

Just tried the simple and safe hack. Looks like I did everything properly. Will test out the aux port later today in my car to see if it really did anything.
UPDATE: The hack didn't work. I did test the leaving the screen on trick though. That definitely helps.

It's a hardware issue. My aux port just died today. I hope I have some sort of warranty.

Unfortunately those thing happens. Hoping they honour their warranty, it's an hardware defect after all, it is not a software bug. Time to restore by default.
Let us know how it went.

Actually upon further investigation, a reboot made the AUX port work again... I still think it's a hardware issue.

[Q] Microphone problem with eris. Hoping someone can help with a workaround.

Hardware related bug, hoping to bypass it completely.
Started happening about 2 months ago.
problem: When headphones/bluetooth are not connected, my microphone on the phone will not work. When either are connected, both the headphone/bluetooth microphone are working at the same time. I've been using bluetooth to place calls this entire time, Person on the other end gets a constant echo, if I cover up the phone microphone the echo stops(and they only hear what comes from the bluetooth headset).
I've flashed multiple roms, it seems to me like this is hardware related, but for the life of me I can't figure out how this seems to have got reversed in functionality (microphone on the phone should mute when headset is attached, not unmute)
Anyways, I'm perfectly fine using bluetooth, I never use my microphone on my phone for voice searches (I'm a southerner, it just doesn't work... yall.) i also never record videos. So, anyone know how I can keep the phone microphone muted full time?
That sucks
The same thing happened to my fiance's eris. I tried everything i could think of... its a hardware issue. She also had a problem with her track ball at the same time, it would not scroll down, only up left and right. She ended up getting a new phone, because nothing else worked. Sorry for your luck. Let me know if you find a fix.

Thanks for the response. I'm 100% sure its a hardware problem. If I cant figure out a way to permanently mute the onboard microphone im going to buy a dead eris and just replace the little board with the usbport/microphone. If that doesnt fix it, I will see if it will boot up with that board removed completely. (have a battery only charger already.)
But before I do either, I would love it if one of the genius' around here (no disrespect, some smart folks on these forums) responded with a way to permanently mute it.
10 day bump in hopes that someone knows something that didnt see it. Wont do it again. *crosses fingers*

[Q] GB Sound issue and Fast Boot

Hi, I have a wi-fi Flyer (16GB) and I am on stock GB 2.3.4
I did root it and got clockwork and all is fine.
I am having problems with sound though, if I select Fast Boot under "Power" settings" tablet starts fast, but there is no sound on built in speaker while headphone jack works fine.
If I uncheck Fast Boot all is ok, but tablet takes long time to boot up which is annoying.
Can someone give me a solution to this issue as I don't know where else to turn for help.
I really like android 2.3.4 as I hear if I move to Honey Comb I cant use my SD card anymore.
Thanks in advance.
Hmm, that's odd. I haven't heard that one before. Have you tried a factory reset?
Can't think of any other ideas, except that.

Hubba-whaaaat? I've never heard any such thing. I think people have trouble maintaining GPS lock, is the only pervasive HC bug I've heard of. Also some feel HC is laggy compared to GB. But my belief is that a lot of that lag was caused by people updating via OTA and keeping their user data. I did a clean install (globatron's method) and the performance is comparable to GB.
Those are the only reasons I can think of to stay on GB.
Thanks for reply redpoint73,I really wouldn't like to do factory reset, but I will do it if no one else heard of this as that means its something on my end.
When I rooted it and did a clockwork on it I did make a backup and I did restore to it yesterday hoping it will fix it.
When I made original backup all was well so it does make sense that something collected along the way did this. Your suggestion seems valid, but I will wait just in case someone has a solution to this.
Thanks again man
So I went and did the factory restore and car dock would auto-start for no reason. I think I had it disabled before so I never noticed that its auto-starting by itself. ( thus no sound from tablet speaker as it thought its docked)
I went ahead and installed a custom rom (FlyHigh) and it's doing the same thing.
Refined symptoms/findings:
This tablet seems to have an issue with charging port and thinks its docked ( does it dock through charging port?)
Tablet charges fine but sometimes it will not give multi option upon connecting to a PC. (this might be also due the fact that I am using HTC Sensation data cable).
Please if anyone has an idea what I am saying let me know.
Thanks.
Yes, it docks through the charge/sync port. That would make sense, considering the symptoms (sound issue, car dock screen, and sync issue). Seems like the port is damaged, such as the pins bent, port becoming loose from the board, etc. The fact the problem persists after factory reset and different ROM reinforces the theory that its a hardware issue. But its odd that turning fast boot off/on made a difference (is that still the case?).
Data cable doesn't matter. I've used my Flyer countless times with an HTC phone sync cable, and generic MicroUSB cables, and those work just fine.
Any evidence of damage if you look in the port?
There are apps on the Market to disable the car dock screen, as well as reroute the sound, that might help you workaround the problem, if you don't find a real solution.
Hey man, thanks for reply.
When there is no sound I have to disable fast boot and do a reboot, then sound comes back. (rebooting with fast boot on will not bring sound back)
If I use tablet without fast boot it does same thing, sometimes within an hour sometimes almost a day.
( no clue why, but if I leave car docking on auto start when docked it comes on screen and that's when sound goes away)
If I could find away to disable car docking completely that would be my solution as I also am suspecting on that connector.
Things that I observed on power connector: I plug it to charge (not usb) and look at light that indicates charging. I slowly wiggle cable to see will that light turn off, but no; it stays lit. Looking at the charging port it looks fine visually.
Any idea how to disable car docking or uninstall it?
I am now on "FlyHighROM-v1.2" which is GB 2.3.4
Thanks again.
There are Market apps that should be able to disable the car dock app:
Disable Car Home
Car Mode Off
No Dock
(probably others)

I will try them and report back in few days.
Thanks
Ok I tried couple and no joy.
I even tried running it with disabled fast boot, but while watching my daughter play rayman sound just went off.
What would happen if I somehow delete that car dock service? whats its name? and what is the best way to try that?
Too bad. Think I've heard of one of those apps disabling car dock on one of my HTC devices (maybe my One X), so thought it might work on the Flyer as well.
Freezing with Titanium Backup is my preferred method to disable apps, as you can easily unfreeze if disabling it causes issues. Don't know what the app/apk is named.

[Q] GS3 sound stops working after a few minutes?

Just bought a second hand GS3 from ebay, the screen had a small crack but otherwise was meant to be OK. I put Foxhound ROM on (I'm just used to having to upgrade the rom) and am finding that the sound will work fine after a restart, but then, after it has gone to sleep all sound will stop working.
I've tried clean wipes/formats etc. and also checked all relevant settings I could find (including turn off all sound in accessibility, what an odd option).
I've tried two ROMs and three kernels.
I've tried searching google and xda for hours but haven't found anything that wasn't related to the headphone port; this affects both speaker and headphone, although when the headphone is in and the sound has died I can hear some strange static noises when it's meant to play sound, could be interference or a clue.
I've dismantled the phone and inspected for damage, nothing obvious. While dismantled I tried applying pressure to the speaker flex cable and various other IC's to no effect.
It really seems like a software glitch since it only happens when the device goes to sleep;
You can turn the screen off and unlock within 3 seconds and it will be OK.
If you wait 5 seconds with the screen off - boom, no sound.
Any ideas? Is there some deep idle sleep setting that kicks in after 3 seconds I can disable or some way to log audio errors or... something?
Thanks

May Be The Phone Was Damaged, Try Stock ROM
i'm downloading a different ROM now but it takes hours (rural australian phone lines...)
same result with a different ROM =/ I've fixed many phones, computers etc before but not sure what to investigate here, guess i'll dismantle it and see.
A second rom and kernel same result.
Seems to lose sound as soon as it goes to sleep (screen off), really seems like a software problem but can't find any other reports on this phone similar.
Help!
Anyone?
Looks like a software problem but can't say where you can look.. If kernel is not the cause..
Maybe hardware after all..
sent from here, there, somewhere!!
The only way I can imagine it being hardware is if it's heating an audio ic during boot to make a connection and then when sleeping it cools and the connection is lost. It's a long shot but if it's software why is it not happening to anyone else? No weird software installed or anything.

Does the sound still work through headphones (after the sound stops working)?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
no, it doesn't seem to be headphone jack related.
the only thing I changed (aside from the rom) that I can think of that MAY have done something is some network setting for my carrier (vodafone .au) - there was an option in foxhound rom or something, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, I googled it at the time to see what it was but have since lost the browser history, it was some feature of the phone network that stops sending requests to the network when the phone is sleeping or some such... I'm really grasping at straws there though.
can't seem to find a stock rom for Australia either?
updated OP with more info, sorry for the bump, i'll let this die if no-one's got any ideas.

I think you are talking about fast dormancy toggle.. But I do not think it will cause any problems.. Also as you have already done factory resets an app should not be a problem..
I can only think of hardware faults..
sent from here, there, somewhere!!
yes i just finally remembered it and tried disabling, you're right, no difference.
I'm having trouble figuring out how hardware could be the culprit though, since it's triggered by the screen off for more than 3 seconds, there's something in software causing it.. but you're right, why does it persist over a wipe then? argh!
Downloaded stock rom, problem remains

[Q] Headphone issue.. cutting out after 30 seconds.

Hi all
I've got a strange issue with the headphone jack, I've searched and can only find people complaining about one channel not working.
I'm getting sound out of both channels but after 30sec - 1 min the sound cuts out, the music app still shows it's playing but no sound, it doesn't matter if i pause and resume, remove the headphone and re insert.. the only way to get it back is to reboot and then it works for another ~30 seconds.
I thought it was to do with dirty flashing 10.2 nightlies, but i did a clean install and it still happened, I've got omnirom installed now and it's still happening with that..
I'm not using any custom kernal. (maybe i should try one)
I don't think it's a connection issue, becuase if i keep the phone completely still without moving he headphone cable, it still happens
I did pull the phone apart and check the flex ribbon and connection just to be sure, but didn't see anything strange.
I have tried 4 different pairs and it's happening with all of them.
Not sure if it's hardware either, I thought the amp chip might be faulty. the loud speaker works fine, does anyone know if they are using the same chip to drive them?
I'm all out of idea's as to what it could be..
last thing i was going to try was to restore the phone back to 100% stock and start from scratch.
Have the same problem here:
If with headphones i put the volume to max, in some time we have the same problem, no sound at all, but... if i use 10 or less volume in the headphones is working without problem.
Sometimes just don't have any sound at all, whyout doing anyting, and all i can do is leave playing some music with headphones and in minutes i recover sound.
Sometimes hear something like interference or distorted sound.

I will try with the volume lower, I'm sure I've done this but I'll recheck.
And, I'll try leaving it running for a few minutes.
EDIT: just tried it now and it still happens at lower volumes, if i leave it on it does come back after 1-2 minutes but only stays on for a few seconds, the lower i have the volume the quicker it does seem to return but only for a brief moment..
I'm flashing the Siyah kernel now with Omnirom.. i'm out of idea's.

Redmi Note 3 Kate headphone bug

So it's my first day of owning this phone, I didn't think I would be posting here, but whenever I plug in headphones, it works for around 2 seconds then it just disconnects even with headphones plugged in. I am pretty sure it's a bug that is not hardware related, because for the first seconds the phone actually sends sound to them. Has anyone ran into an issue like this and knows how to fix it? I am currently on Stable MIUI 8.0.5.0.
EDIT: I managed to get it to work, but not the way it should. If I plug it all the way in, the phone detects a headset (headphones and mic) which then later disconnects. If I hold it for around 2 seconds plugged half way in, then it comes up as just headphones and works without any problems. Is there any way to fix this or it's how its supposed to be?
i think this is a compatibilty problm. not a hardware or software one. just use another one. will work fine

also with those bugs, i think i want to flash cyanogenmod. is there a safe way to flash cyanogenmod on kate?
