[Tutorial] Nokia Lumia 920 missing '4G' under Highest Connection Speed? - Nokia Lumia 920

Hey Guys,
Are you missing '4G' under Highest Connection Speed? You likely purchased a device that was '4G Ready', rather than '4G Enabled'.
Why are some devices 4G ready, rather than 4G enabled?
If the device was sourced from a mobile carrier, the carrier might not yet have 4G LTE, so they have not enabled LTE in the ROM. They do not want you taking the mobile to a carrier that already has 4G LTE!
When do 4G ready devices become 4G enabled?
4G ready devices become 4G enabled via an OTA update. When this update is actually released, depends primarily on the mobile carrier.
Is it possible to flash a ROM that has 4G enabled, on my Nokia Lumia 920?
Yes, there are a few different ROMs for the Lumia 920 that have 4G enabled, which can be flashed on the device.
DISCLAIMER: Proceed with the below instructions at your own risk, I take no responsibility for bricked devices etc.
The below instructions are intended for the Global Nokia Lumia 920 (RM-821).
Prerequisites
1. Download and extract NaviFirm Plus 1.7
2. Download and install Nokia Care Suite 5.0
Instructions
1. Open NaviFirm Plus and navigate to 'Nokia Lumia 920 (RM-821)' under products, select '1232.5951.1249.1002' under Releases, select 'RM-821_belgium_proximus_VAR254549_1249_1_001_V1_Black (059R5X4)' under Variants. Click the 'Mark All' button and download the files.
(This is the firmware that I have personally tested, it is possible to use different firmware that is 4G enabled)
2. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Packages\Products (you might need to create the Products directory)
3. Create a folder inside of the Products directory called: rm-821
4. Open NaviFirm Plus and copy your save path (e.g. mine is C:\Users\sales.support\Desktop\navifirmplus_1.7\NaviFirm+ 1.7\Fw\)
5. Paste this path into Windows Explorer, there should be a folder called '059R5X4'
6. Copy all of the files inside of '059R5X4' (once they have finished downloading), and paste them into C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Packages\Products\rm-821
7. Run the application 'Launch Nokia Care Suite', and select 'Product Support Tool For Store 5.0'
8. Disconnect your mobile from the computer
9. Navigate to File > Open Product, select RM-821 from the list
10. Click on 'Programming' in the bottom left hand corner of the application, select Recovery
11. You should see the firmware that you previously copied to the '\Products\rm-821' directory
12. Your mobile should still be disconnected from your computer, select this firmware and click Start
12. The software will fail to find your mobile (because it is not connected), this is what we want to happen. You should now see the below screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
13. Connect the mobile to your computer
14. Hold down VOLUME DOWN + POWER, click 'Retry' after you feel a vibration from the mobile
15. Release the two buttons and hold down VOLUME UP
16. Keep holding down the volume up button until the software on your computer says 'Rebooting'
17. You will then see a Nokia logo appear on your mobile shortly afterwards, and the software will start flashing. If you are asked about the firmware you are flashing not matching the firmware currently on your device, accept this.
18. Your device should now reboot to the setup screen, and once you have setup the device, you should now see a '4G' option under Highest Connection Speed
Please click the 'Thanks' button if this thread helped you, as it took quite a while to write up.

Not a problem with an ATT phone. Mine says LTE any time I use data so I know my 4G is enabled.

You don't actually have to press Volume Up after the vibration... Just click 'Retry'....

This not work for me
I try with same .. original firm ware Thailand. I flash using belgium firmware every thing goes well but I not got 4g option still available 3g only. how I get 4G why it not getting my lumia 920

Where did I go wrong
I was doing the tutorial to get my phone upgraded to 4g however somewhere along the line I went wrong because I don't see an RM-821 option when I open products in Nokia Care Suite.
Can you please help me?:crying:

As far as I know you can update a Lumia 800 to DLOAD via the NCS. I'm not really sure why you would do this, though.
I am new in this field, but i you know a solution to DLOAD my lumia 800 with NCS, please share with me, cause i totally ignore how to do it. Thanks in advance
So, once upgraded to Qualcomm, if ever it needs to go back to Nokia DLOAD, just use these steps, am i right?
Good work, vova

I have the QC bootloader on my phone and I'm having a heck of a time trying to upgrade it to the Tango update. I feel like it's the QC bootloader that's somehow blocking me from using NCS. I have a thread for my problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1734174.
I think if I can get the DLOAD on my phone then it can get stock upgrades...but at this point, my phone is stuck with an old version with no upgrade path.
Details please
Hi as a noob I'm weak but wanabee smart Not to waste my phone. In the tuto, at the end when suppose to paste. Should it be over what's already there if so then we need to select from section 1001 and paste over or else. I'm really not sure how to paste it caus' HxD does not give me the 'Insert the replacement
Thanks
RM-809
Hi, this is my first post here and I want to solve one question
I can use this process on my Nokia Lumia 710 RM-809?
I am from Brazil and here only sold the RM-809, branded ou unbranded.
Thanks
NCS doesn't recognize my phone
I upgraded to DLOAD from Qualcomm based on your instructions. That went well. But even now, Nokia Care Suite doesn't recognize my phone. I want to flash latest roms and don't need modded roms. Please let me know as to how I can do this. TIA
Edit: NM, I was able to do it.

answered my own question
i missed the bit where it said read only and untick
How do i insert replacement? I dont see the option under right click.
I am running HdX as admin and unchecked read only. I can see the option when in the downloaded file but on the phone side it is grayed out.
Can you explain better...
12. At the beginning of the sector in 1001, about the letters «0B 00" right click and click 'Insert the replacement. "
no image of this should i overwrite "0B 00" with all file's content, insert before "0B 00" or overwrite all the content of the sector 1001?
Thanks for the help
PS: no "insert the replacement" option. only paste/write
Sorry but... what is the difference between DLOAD and Qualcomm? Is one of those "better"? thanks.

[Q] Lumia 920: Red screen, white logo, "Product in Flash Mode"

I just received a replacement for my dead Lumia 920. Upon attempting to update the firmware to the latest version, it failed and now boots only to a red screen with a white Nokia logo. I can connect it to the PC, but the device isn't detected as a Lumia 920. I can open the Product for the 920, but the connection bit shows "USB1: Product in Flash Mode". Neither attempting to start the flash nor trying to do the "Refurbish" mode works at all.
Any ideas or is it a dead duck?
Thanks!
Sounds dead to me. All the ways to fix it seems to have been killed such as a new flash or using NCS over USB. Seems you may need to take it in, hop e you got a warranty on it.

It's still under the factory warranty. Why do you think a new flash has been killed? I flashed another Lumia 920 just a few days ago and it worked fine.
Well, good fortune had the local AT&T warranty center with one in stock, so I just went down and swapped it out.
This is my fourth 920. I won't be buying another Nokia.

That happened to mine, but it was because I accidentally flashed the wrong ROM from navifirm. Once I downloaded and flashed the correct ROM, phone booted up and ran just fine.

Things you need:
1. Latest version of Nokia Suite (version 2013_13_4_4 download from Nokia site)
2. usergroupsconfiguration.cfg file
You can download the ‘usergroupsconfiguration.cfg’ file from HERE
Alternate LINK to both files.
Installation:
1. First install Nokia Suite. Do not run after the installation is finished.
2. After Nokia Suite installs, copy and replace the usergroupsconfiguration.cfg file to C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Product Support Tool For Store 5.0 if you’re running a 64-bit version of Windows. Or C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Product Support Tool For Store 5.0 if on 32-bit.
Running Nokia Suite and Downloading the firmware:
1. Open Nokia Suite. And select ‘Product Support Tool For Store 5.0′
2. When prompted, select ‘CareSuite External’ then hit ‘Sign-in’ button.
3. From the Menu, select Tools, then ‘Firmware Download’
4. Now enter the product code of your device, hit ‘Check Online’ button, to check the latest firmware version of your product code.
5. Then ‘tick’ ‘Optional Content Files and ‘Download’ to save your firmware.
6. Wait a few minutes for your files to download
7. You may now manually flash your Nokia device with the firmware you just downloaded.
TIP:
- Your firmware should be stored in the C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Packages\Products folder of your hard drive.
- If you need to download a different firmware version for the same product code, I suggest you wait for your first download to finish, save all the downloaded files in a marked folder, then proceed with your next download.
- Partial List of Nokia Lumia product codes.
WARNING & DISCLAIMER: This process is for experimental purposes ONLY. I will not be responsible for any damage your device may incur during the manual flashing. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Flashing noob - need help installing Win7 on my TG01

Hi guys.
I need some clear instructions, and software needed to install Windows 7 on my TG01. I do not know most of the stuff I see posted in threads, so I need something even a retard could do.
It already has WM 6.5 on it. And it works well. I need something with a great chance of not bricking it.
anyone help plz
N00b guide
There is certainly not an obvious way to flash a TG01, especially to WP7, so here is a rough guide it's not perfect but hopefully this works for you. Please read and download everything you need before beginning the process.
Step 1: Flash WP7 bootloader
1) Download and install TG Downloader and the USB drivers. Reboot PC.
2) Fully charge your device battery. (Buy a cheap universal battery charger from eBay if necessary.)
3) Switch off your device.
4) Place your TG01 into "Download mode" as follows...
Devices with 0321 ROMs: Hold down Camera + Power buttons on boot.
Otherwise: Remove back cover, battery and SIM card. Carefully remove black sticker where the SIM card was. Get a piece of copper wire and twirl it so that you can easily hold it and touch Pin 1 and Pin 3 at the same time (known as "shorting"), see below image. Replace battery, short the pins with the copper wire and press the Power button.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
After either of these your device should display a white LED on the front which means it is in Download mode. If not, switch off and try again. Also if using the PIN method, maybe try holding the Reset button on the back for 10 seconds straight after pressing the Power button.
5) Connect phone to PC. Start TG Downloader with admin rights (right-click shortcut or EXE and choose "Run as administrator".
6) TG Downloader will display an error, click "yes". Click change port to change to Toshiba DL port if necessary. Click "Download mode".
7) Download and extract wp7boot.bin, browse to it in TG Downloader and click "Start Download".
8) Do not disconnect your phone until the process completes, it shouldn't take longer than 5-10mins.
Step 2: Flash WP7 ROM
1) Download and extract these OS files. Install the Acer driver (32 or 64bit) and the ZTEiT Common Downloader.
2) Download a WP7 ROM. I recommend one of the latest 7.8 builds. Once the ROM is downloaded, extract, rename to flash.bin and place in the same directory as NPRG8650.hex and partition.mbn.
3) Fully charge your device battery.
4) Switch off your device.
5) Hold Camera + Power to boot into Download mode, device should display a blue LED.
6) Connect to PC. Start ZTEiT Common Downloader. Select Multi-Download.
7) Browse to folder with downloaded files. Click advanced and for each of the three files (flash.bin, NPRG8650.hex and partition.mbn) browse to them.
8) Click Start to begin flashing process. Do not disconnect device until complete. Could take 15-25mins.
Then your device should boot up into your new WP7 software. Please note camera does not function in any WP7 builds AFAIK and there may be bugs or other limitations.
If this guide works, please go thank these guys: qinwengui, mirolg, arag0n85 and kevinpwhite. Of course thank the ROM creator too :victory:
help please
I never got to put the mobile in download mode, load some files previously in sd?

you need Nokia Care Suite v2013.13.4.4 (dont upgrade to newer version because not work!!!) and usergroupsconfiguration.cfg file
all you have here

or here http://www.4shared.com/file/rDUyVK-w/NokiaCareSuite.html
Installation:
1. First install Nokia Suite. Do not run after the installation is finished.
2. After Nokia Suite installs, copy and replace the usergroupsconfiguration.cfg file to C:\Program Files (x86)\NokiaNokia Care Suite\Product Support Tool For Store 5.0 if you’re running a 64-bit version of Windows. TIP:
- Your firmware should be stored in the C:\Program\Data\Nokia\Packages\Products folder of your hard drive.

Have any of you found Black to download on Nokia's servers yet? I checked this afternoon and there's nothing yet available for 059Q8T8 (CV BR Black), so it seems that the rollout is still pretty slow. When Amber came, Brazilian phones had it one week after, though OTA took much more to arrive.
Still, I can't decide whether I'll run the update manually or wait for the OTA. MS still has the crappiest backup routines I have ever seen. That makes me miss iOS for a second.
