New TWRP has root function - HTC Desire X

TWRP 2.4.2 is out and among the features they included the ability to check for root and install SuperSU if no su is found. I haven't tried it out yet, but this might be a nice alternative for those Desire X users looking to root their phones. Hopefully Nexus Prime will be able to port it soon for us.

For manual patching ... at least for this version of CM7
I'm replacing /system/etc (the whole folder) with /system/etc from MIUI Mesmerize 1.8.5
I will try to create update.zip file later, hopefully when there is time

I flashed this ROM with Glitch beta 12 LL kernel. Everything works AMAZINGLY and the battery life in phenominal! You deserve praise man. My phone is now fast, efficient, AND functional in all aspects!

One way to make the Mobile data work is:copy the /system/etc directory from the mesmerize rom to the fascinate /system/etc directory, then go to /system/bin directory and open the pppd_runner,replace the "dns1" and "dns2" to google dns or somethings work in your region.

i concur that adb does not work on either version.. the "official" one with the bigger font, or Flyhalf205's version with red colored font.. I did use adb sideload on the previous "official" version and it worked fine, I haven't tried it since flashing the newer one..
I will say that for flashing ROM's and making and restoring backups I haven't had any issues with the older (smaller font) official recovery..
Neither will charge in recovery but both let the phone charge while off without booting into recovery automajically..
I do like the "power off" feature that Flyhalf205 incorporates into his recovery.

Thank you, Texasice, for all you've done to keep our N1s alive! I'm planning on replacing my long-standing 4ext recovery with twrp (on a cm7 and cm10 phone). Like the quoted post, its not clear to me how your recovery differs, if it does, from teamwin's version.

[Q] Ported rom, no root access

Alright, so I ported tripndroid to the DNA. Used cm's device tree, m7 kernel, and external/clang, and the muppets' vendor tree. Builds with no errors, flashes fine, runs great, but I got no root access. Superuser is installed, shows up under settings. Tried flashing busybox su package, koush's supersu 1.51 binary, and superuser. Nothing. Any ideas?

Isn't the latest supersu like 1.65? That's what I flashed on omnirom on my nexus 7 and I believe that's also the only one people were having success with.

I just took a look at their android_device_htc_m7. Wow, they are really not making any attempt to keep their changes in line with what CM is doing. I wouldn't be surprised if you get more surprises down the road...
In the 4.3 builds, superuser support requires that a daemon be running as root. This service is configured in init.superuser.rc which must get included by one of the etc/init*.rc scripts in the ramdisk.
The CM builds do this in vendor/cm which conveniently makes it apply to all devices. Tripndroid seems instead to have added the include directly to ramdisk/init.rc in their device tree. I suspect making the coresponding change to the init.rc on the DLX tree will fix the problem.

[Q] Can anyone test a ROM?

Hello, I'm the founder of SaberMod, a after market gcc that allows ROMs and kernels to be compiled with different optimizations such as graphite. I've successfully compiled a unofficial omni ROM with SaberMod changes but I do not own this device. Any testers would be appreciated.
@sparksco Pm me a link and I'll give it a whirl if I get some time.

I'd love to test! It's always great trying new ROMs and kernels on this device. Looking forward to posting thorough feedback
Thanks guys. I have to get a new test rom with some new changes so it flashes... And also some audio fix test thanks to @USBhost for his logcat.
If you need anymore testers, I'm willing to help out, but can't start until Monday. I'll be away til then.
