if you had a search just a tiny bit less than 30 seconds you would had seen that no port is coming on xperia 2011 until ubuntu touch gets at least a bit stable.

Hello
Hello , yes there is a thread as the people above me are saying , however the project is kind of "frozen" since noone is pretty much insterested apart from a few people trying to figure out how to make Ubuntu touch possible for our devices.
Hope there will be more people interested in order to help those devs and make it live for us!

Well. This is a step in the right direction
But. Can Ubuntu Phone OS run on Xperia P? And if so, will we see a port of it on P?
I would be happy if so
In 2 years maybe MAYBE. The number of developers on this platform is very low almost none. We cant get jb running, so what do you expect? Time will tell

Well actually I've read somewhere, porting Ubuntu to a device with Android is pretty easy.
I rly hope some great dev will port it, since I used Ubuntu almost all my life
Post where you saw that and i 'll take a look at it

That'd be great
Would love it even more than Jelly Bean from SGSIIIM
Theres a petition that may speed up the development and release of ubuntu for our phones: https://www.change.org/petitions/ca...evelopers-com-as-testers-for-ubuntu-for-phone. Please help to sign it.
A petition is not needed, it can be ported by anyone

You really think this thread makes any sense and anybody will develop a rom because you ask him to?
Canonical released Ubuntu sources for NEXUS phones last day.
And the portal says "Porting Ubuntu Touch is as Simple as Building CM". I think Ubuntu Touch can be built based on CM10 for XPERIA devices.
Reference : http://www.xda-developers.com/android/porting-ubuntu-touch-is-as-simple-as-building-cm/
There would be a lot of support if any of the Developer would kick-start this project.
We NXT guys were discussing over it yesterday....
1.We need a cm 10.1 to use as base, which we have but its still a bit unstable.
2. We need a 3.4 Kernel to get the best user experience and performance or else it will be more like miui jb! (lags a lot!!)
3. The version released right now is just a dev preview, hence many features aren't working on it yet!
In the end we all decided that we will port a better version! Which won't be long as the ubuntu devs will give updates fast cause they wanna make it the best os for every platform as they said at CES!
Thus, we will wait

Antoher big thing gonna happen from DJ again !
Yup, its just Dev Preview, lot of things aren't working as I seen in most of the Videos out there. Ubuntu is collaborating with XDA Devs to make it work on different phones.
It just needs CM10 as base (I mistakenly wrote CM9 too which now corrected). Lot of devices are on the way for the build including SONY XPERIA T (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices).
Hope to see Ubuntu Touch Build from you.

Last time I checked we need cm10.1 !
Correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure that it was 10.1 and not 10 !
However we still need a 3.+ kernel for best performance!

Let's see what happens bro!
At the most we might be able to make it smoothly working on our devices with some kernel tweaking and scripting!
But we wont b starting before a better ubuntu is available!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173958
http://www.android.com/kitkat/
The new version of Android has been announced & it says that it will be supported to run on low RAM (512MB), single core devices as well!
http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/504575/20130909/android-4-kitkat-os-top-devices-features.htm
Post your thoughts about this.
I've heard a lot about its so called optimisation for lower end devices and I'm really praying that it is true!
Whilst the dev community here have done an excellent job in keeping the 2011 Xperia line fresh, it would be just awesome if it doesn't feel like our devices are being stretched to their maximum potential to run as is with JB.
Another 'hope' I have is that with the better support for low end...our batteries might just stop being blown away like a butterfly in a hurricane.
(Ok they say hope oft deceives, but one can only be optimistic)
I guess the new kernel will greatly improve the battery life & it says that there is optimization for running sensors with a very low battery consumption. :fingers-crossed:
@ak070
did you checked this video:
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...drm-partition-backup-script-xda-developer-tv/
that guy told that Sony Ericsson devices probarly get no 4.4 only Sony Devices !
but we shall see
Lol! He didn't say that 2011 Xperias won't get 4.4. He said that 2011 Xperias won't be able to backup their DRM partition using that tool.
Here it is!
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/easily-backup-the-ta-partition-on-your-sony-xperia-device/
We'll see what happens...
Even without 'official' support, I'd be optimistic about getting 4.4 on our Xperias, we do have a really good dev. community here.
We've got 4.3 roms here that are being worked on (CM 10.2 - ok its not ready for daily use but its being worked on) so hopefully when 4.4 comes we'll get the same!
we can use custom 4.4 roms but we are losing the advantages of ROM by sticking to same hardware since 2011...
it's good to have latest OS on older devices but we won't enjoy maximum of it ... in future we need up-gradable mobiles like assembled pc's ( really man )
It says its optimized to run on devices with old hardware (especially) so I guess if we happen to come up with a 4.4 ROM, it will be smoother than JB but obviously it will need latest kernel sources.
I really wish that custom configuration device concept comes true...
If this News is true den we Can Have Kitkat as smooth as GB..
Then it ll be great
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using xda app-developers app
This is great news 4.4 on our old devices.. 2011 Xperia line up is still alive..
Questions
Will it be available for HTC Wildfire S [512 RAM][600MHz Single Core] ?
Man, it will be available for everyone, sources are posted at google source, it depends on manufacturer or developer if it will be out for your device as an image or flashable zip. If it is a low activity device then it is clear that update will not be released for your device.
We should learn things and try contributing instead of "hoping" we have plenty of guides to help us build ourselves or atlest help the developing Devs.. If we keep the hoping game on then I dont see that day too far when a rom will be updated once in a month or may be 6 months in neo forum.. Search, Learn, help and most important stop being noob..

Agree with you but this thread is not intended for hoping or something like Sony will or will not release 4.4. (Obviously they won't )
Sole purpose of this thread is to express people's thoughts on 4.4 KitKat.
Just saying...
Cheers!
