Got that code to do the tradeup and I plugged in the info and it looks like the HTC Evo LTE is worth just $100 trade up for the HTC One, in case anyone was curious. Don't know how this can be of any benefit Would you be charged the full price of the phone or just $99 ($199- $100 trade up)? Would your contract with Sprint reset for 2 yrs when you got the phone? I'm still reading through the fine print.
Surprisingly the One X is $115 and the One S is $100. Shows you how much they don't value the Evo LTE. Even the old G1 is worth $100. Sad I tell you.
One is not a big upgrade over the LtE so wait for next year's phone if you need to trade in your lte

Just sell it somewhere, you'll definitely get more than $100, probably double that.

Yes. However, I bought the LTE off-contract last year, which means I have an upgrade coming up. Really don't know if I should sell the LTE and get the One or wait to see what else comes out. Hate sitting with an upgrade though.
The chipset upgrade is looking less crucial for me than back in the day, the LTE is pretty fast the way it is. So what I would be really gaining is great speaker sound, better camera (questionable), slightly better screen (but how much better is slcd2 --> slcd 3?), and Sense 5.
However, I would be losing the kickstand, dedicated camera button, menu/recent apps button, slightly smaller phone (dimension-wise, the One has more bezel, which equates to bigger phone even though they're both 4.7")
Love the chassis on the One though! But the LTE is mostly aluminum, so it doesn't make it as bad.
Can't decide!!

What do you think I did with the phone I had when I bought the LTE off-contract? It's a 3D by the way, and it's sitting in my office for this very reason
I for one am not impressed with the HTC One in regards to it really being worth an upgrade from the LTE
The 1st camera reviews that have come out so far have been beyond disappointing.
In due time a Dev will have the HTC One software running on the EVO LTE
After that, what would be a reason to upgrade if you are not eligible for a full upgrade?
I would also be highly disappointed if HTC no longer gives sprint an exclusive phone.
Thats one of the main reasons why I have chosen to remain with sprint (11 years) as I refuse to have a sprint phone that other carriers offer
because i know that phone performs better on their networks that have better LTE reception

Pretty much sums up how I feel. I may have to see what the beast Samsung has cooked up for the S4. Whichever version had the Exynos Octa is where I will be going.

Exactly what the post says. All you have to do is read their post, it's perfectly clear English. If you don't speak English, Google can translate it for you.

It made sense to me. He said he needs a reason to be on Sprint. He said his reason was the awesome exclusive phone. So if there's no excusivity (i.e. same phone on every carrier), then it doesn't make sense to him to be on Sprint, sense the signals are worse than the other big name carriers.
One big reason I'm on Sprint though is the price. I'm willing to suck up the signal quality for a lower phone bill.

Why do some think the One isn't an upgrade? It has a quad core and double the ram. Really, to me, it's a bigger upgrade from the LTE than the LTE was from the 3D (unless you actually have LTE). The 3D was a duo core just as our phone and with the same 1gb of ram. Hell, with the sense 4 ports it was a pretty spiffy handset. Coming to this phone from the Note 2, there is a definitive difference from a duo core processor to a quad core..I think sometimes (myself included) we don't see the next best thing as a justification for upgrade simply because we aren't eligible yet or can't afford it outright. Just my thoughts...

So looks like Sprint is going to run a lil upgrade promo for 2 months starting next week....

Maybe they plan on releasing the nexus phone during this time and want people to buy it?....

so I talked to sprint yesterday. They told me that I could trade my evo3d in and open a new contract for a galaxy nexus and receive 99.00 credit for my evo 3d, and cancel my terms on my 3d for 61 dollars + new contract price of the galaxy nexus being 199 or 299?

Same here.
when is the nexus supposed to be released on sprint's network?
this sounds like a huge trap... d3rp.
"oh yes i will upgrade early! i have been wanting a SGS2 zomgzorz!!!!"
1 week after this promo is over.... nexus hits shelves... customers who upgraded their plan now have to pay full price if they want another phone within the next year or two.
sneaky bastards. i hate the way they do business.
They are just trying to swindle people into a new contract because most people are waiting for LTE and LTE phones, and will move on if they don't get them soon.
I mean I get the promo as it kinda sorta makes up a little bit on the whole losing of the yearly upgrade gift for Premier gold members when they kicked that program out the door.
BUT that would only be the case if it was a permanent program instead of a temporary one....
Well, I hope this is still around when the Evo 3d successor comes out. New better evo coming this summer? I had og Evo, todays Evo 3d. And eventually ill have the this years Evo. Hopefully this will help me get it.

+1 on that. would be nice to beable to do this anytime.
I won't jump on this as appealing as the Galaxy Nexus is. For one, I know there will be some beast ass phones out in August when my contract expires. Second, Sprint has to prove to me that their network will get that much better with their network speed. I won't believe this whole "network vision" till I see it. They claim they have been making some upgrades to their 3G network already according to their network tower map but I have seen absolutely no increase in speed or coverage. I want to have faith in their LTE network but their current network really has me in doubt.
So unless they REALLY get their **** together I'm switching to Verizon. They have excellent coverage around here and a blazing fast LTE network.
Does this mean we have to trade our evo 3d's into sprint or can we sell them on ebay or whatever and use that cash to pay for the fee and the new phone we get?

The great part about the galaxy nexus is that it will always have the latest android updates and you won't have to wait for the manufacturer and carrier to release the update.

This is pretty much how I feel, The Rezound, the Nexus, and the Note are the only thing that gets my attention, and the Rezound is what interests me, but its just my 3D with a higher res screen and LTE. The Nexus has the a larger screen but the same resolution as the Rezound, still has a 5mp cam like my 3D and is a samsung. The Note is cool except it is AT&T (I know Verizon's coming.) So it comes down to OS. I want asop ICS in one form or another, so thats the selling point. I'd go for a rezound if I had a nice cm9 or such with everything working including LTE, but still I would wish for a larger screen size, since I would feel like I still have my 3D...
So some of you might know me... Some may not but, I've been developing roms for Verizon's HTC phones for year's, and I think I might want to try a different carrier for awhile and sprint is at the top of my list... Don't get me wrong I love the user base from the Verizon peeps but it just keeps getting smaller and smaller... The last 2 devices I've had Incredible 2 and Rezound just seemed like they died before they got going by that I mean no support other than me and a couple other devs...
So what I'm asking is what are your thoughts about sprints service... And do you think the LTE should be my next device? I've played around with a lot of the new HTC phones and the LTE seems to be better than the other's, so it will most likely be my next phone, but I want to hear what you all think?

I love my LTE and have had Sprint service for nearly 15 years. No complaints here...Sure, the 3G speed isn't that great, but that should change with Network Vision project. I live in Baltimore so I get pretty decent speeds right now, but there are plenty of others that are not.
Customer Service: never had an issue with them
Dropped Calls/Missed Calls: not nearly as many as with AT&T and some others that my friends use. Seems pretty stable.
Data: 3G isn't great, but, it works and is unlimited.
Bills: Never had an issue with Billing
Hope that helps somewhat.
EDIT: I ran your NEWTS RC3 on the EVO 3D and loved it. Couldn't change ROMS after flashing yours because nothing came close...
You should definitely come over to the EVO 4G LTE forums and hook us up. LOL...
Do it newt. Data speeds are pretty decent in major cities, price is right and this phone is a beast. Two best parts: screen and audio quality. I came from the 3d and am glad I left the drama and subparness of that phone behind. Ran your sense 4.0 port at the end of my time with the 3d and loved it. Lets just hope sprint doesn't forget about this device like the 3d. Oh and there's no drama here like the 3d. Come join the party newt, we need more devs like you.

I've been with Sprint for 11yrs, it's been a rocky ride at times but they've improved substantially over the last several. I love my LTE but a friend of mine just got the GS3 and I was playing around with it and it's a really nice phone. That being said, the selfish part in me wants as many quality developers as possible committed to the LTE to try and bring development here to the level it was with the OG EVO. Since you're a developer and the phone will likely stay bone stock just long enough for you to root it, it really comes down to specs and personal preference as to design and build quality. LTE is a little lighter and seems a little thinner, GS3 seems a little more soldly built (even with it being all plastic). There's an issue of the LTE bending just above the kickstand due to the aluminum being so thin and weak in that area. IMO the LTE has a slightly better screen but the GS3 screen is still beautiful. GS3 has far more storage available to it and a removable battery. I've actually been thinking of switching to the GS3 just because all I really want is a fully working, solid, stable AOSP build and I have a feeling the GS3 is going to get there first.

If your willing to take the sacrifice from insanely fast data to Sprints mediocre data until LTE really starts going, I think you'll see this as a nice upgrade from HTC's previous devices. The build quality is something I didn't expect, because its really that nice. The one thing that I still have yet to get over on this phone, is this beautiful screen.
If you decide to come to the EVO-side I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

The EVO LTE is awesome compared to any other phone out there, period. Only draw back on the phone is not being able to take out the battery. Everything else on the EVO destroys the competition. (Well not destroy, just get the phone you won't be disappointed.) Sprints service is better than they get credit for I think. Though they need to work faster on 4G so we can stop getting charged for something we cannot use and so they can stop BSing that it is for data coverages. 3G speed is what you would expect really. Unlimited everything is a big plus. And their customer service is sub par but I think most carriers are.
From what I read here, your the man. Make it happen chief!

Word... I WILL NOT buy a phone from another manufacturer. I feel that HTC's build quality is unmatched and honestly I love Sense with Nova instead of Rosie (i know that isn't a popular opinion).
Sprint has been good to me here in Charleston, Wv. I have the OG Evo, the Evo 3D, the HTC Flyer tablet and now the Evo 4G LTE... wouldn't trade this phone for anything currently on the market.
In this area on 3G I seem to average between 1500 and 1700 mbps and that is plenty for me as I am usually on Wifi... I honestly don't care much if 4G even comes to this area and of the handful of dropped calls I have ever had, I was talking to someone on AT&T so I tend to believe that it was on their end.
Sprint service is decent i have had worse t-mobile "cough" phones seen alot nicer on sprint if your an htc fan..excited to see you considering the lte

I was looking forward to a 5 inch screen for the next HTC flagship to Sprint, but I'll settle for 4.7 with 1080p display at 468ppi. And the rest of the specs, I'll take it.
Not much to be hyped about compared to the DNA....camera...and screen are really all that's a upgrade to it... Show me next gen Qualcomm SoC in a Sprint device and then ill get excited!
Really worried they will toss APQ chip in with MSM/MDM for radios which will be old by time of an EVO launch....

I still don't see VZ jumping on board this soon after the DNA release either...
Dunno my biggest thing is to NOT see the APQ SoC in a device as that's been done and there won't be any firsts there.... Regardless I don't see sprint disbanding the EVO brand for this still...they need their device to set apart...but who knows...

Specs are beast. I guess I may be one of the few that thinks that phone is going to be awesome, I don't see why there isn't more hype....

If I can expect to get an update to an Android 4.2 / Sense 5 update for my phone, I'll keep it for an additional year and get something after that. HTC still has a lot of work to do, but I would really like to see continued upgrades for our handset.

I hear ya, but this will be on Sprint .. the DNA isn't, also this will have a bigger battery and with the smaller screen it'll smoke the DNA's battery life. So, better battery, screen, and camera? That's nice. Big improvement over the EVO that's for sure, and I bet there's other improvements over the DNA that will come out.

My wife keeps wanting me to buy a new phone for her, but she doesn't like the ones with the big screens. She'll only do HTC, and we have to stay with Sprint. So, she may have to deal with it.
If the next nexus phone comes to sprint then that will probably be my next and first choice. The fact that you can't take the battery out the evo 4g lte really really turns me away. I plan to give my evo 4g lte to my dad but something tells me I'm going to have to do some replacing of the battery because of how fast these batteries lose their charge after a while. That's gonna be a pain despite the how to videos. My second choice will be the S4 unless HTC gets there stuff together. Don't get me wrong, I like sprints variant of the one X but samsung is making their devices way more attractive lately. Always been a HTC fan but they haven't been coming through lately. Here's to hoping they listen to us.

You know sense 5 will happen on this device. Thinking this phone is gonna make the long haul. Sprint and HTC really needs to focus on a 1.5 year update policy for every device. Or maybe make it a two system update. Get 4.1-4.2, then 4.3 or next update. Or sense 4 and sense 5. Now that we arent upgrading our phones as often as we were 3 years ago, its either gonna be update to future proof the consumer investment or people will be jumping ship.

No mention of sd card there, no bueno. Plus with 1080p I'd hope there's a gpu upgrade in there as well, that's a lot of pixels that need updated.

sd slot for the sprint variant probably
So I don't know if anyone else is thinking about getting this phone, it has caught my interest. I went to the Sprint site to see what's going on there, and they are advertising it as coming soon. I went to check my upgrade eligibility and then looked at current phones they have. To my surprise the OG Evo is selling higher than the LTE with 2-year contract. To top it off the OG is preowned. That's crazy right?
Anyways, what's everyone think of the new HTC phone?
One is with a contract the other is without a contract. No it's not crazy

I actually have wimax coverage where I live and work but no LTE, not crazy IMO

I have neither, and I guess they priced them differently for upgrade pricing. I checked again and it is cheaper if you sign up as a new customer. I never post on these forums but I thought maybe someone would be interested in some nerd discussion. Thanks for the replies, but in my opinion, its crazy to still sell a phone that old in any condition.

Yea. Samsung phones have always felt cheaper to me. The interface is definitely nothing compared to sense. The only things that turn me away from the One, is that it doesn't have an expandable sd slot. Then again, neither does my iPod and I never run out of space on that. Then again, it is an Apple product. I'd like to know which developers are going to the One, that could also be a sway. Imagining Viper on it, I think HTC should hire some of our developers to perfect the interface.

As my signature would imply, you don't need to make Nexus plural when you've already used the plural form of devices

To continue the grammar policing in good humor, the plural form of Nexus Is actually Nexus or Nexuses not Nexi. Nice try though.

Real question is does The One replace the Evo branding. I don't believe HTC would make Sprint or any carrier specific variant of The One. This is exactly what they are trying to get away from. They want 1 device on every carrier that they can market the crap out of(ala galaxy). What do you guys think about that? I love my EVO LTE, I think its superior to the GS3 and I love having a phone that people ask "what the heck is that" because it looks different. Is this the end of the EVO or just going to delay the EVO launch until the luster of The One is over??
Can't wait for the next evo.

If HTC sticks to the whole one phone for all carriers (which they would be smart to do so). Then there is no more Evo.
Judging by the fact that I'm in the middle of a two year contract, I'm not so sure if I'll be jumping to the HTC One. What are your thoughts? Is it worth the money to switch, and do you think you are gonna get it?

As someone that literally buys a new phone every year, I might get this. However, I won't be able to get it until summer, but something new might be available by then, so we'll just have to wait and see. The money is right, but I'd like to know that there's something else coming with an SD card slot. We'll just have to see what's in store for summer.
I'm getting it. Gonna buy out a month of my moms contract and then she'll be due for an upgrade
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Luckily its not a huuuuge jump from the EVO so I'll be sticking with this phone. Plus LTE won't arrive to my area until 'October 2014’ so there's definitely no hurry for me. Kinda wish I would've held onto my 3D.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Me. But work is buying it, and it will be on AT&T (so I'll actually have LTE).
FU Sprint for not bringing LTE to Denver in a reasonable time frame.
Holding off on this phone. I've owned all of the Evos but won't be buying this one. Sprint sucks. I'm waiting until a couple months remain on my contract and then jumping ship to Verizon. Verizon has 4g in my city and have for almost a year and I'm stuck here with Sprint's ****ty 3g service that won't even load a Google search in a decent amount of time.

I'm most probably getting it, but not sure whether I'm staying on Sprint or not. Each carrier has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Isn't our evo sprints version of the one. What is changing and how is the one x on sprint differnt than the evo lte other than the way it looks physically

Read the thread " is the m7 the next EVO" and climb out from under that rock lol ...and yes I'm def getting it ...it will match my new metal i7 Asus well
ugh i just wish it supported sd cards
I've also had all of the Evos. I personally like the One even without a sd card. It sucks because I bought the LTE outright because I'm not due for a upgrade until April. Oh well I'll just have the LTE and the One. No way in hell I'm giving the LTE up for a 100.00 dollars after I paid 550.00 for it in December.
method1911 Tranquility LTE
Ill mostly find a way to buy the one but, ill probably not let this EVO go for quite a while. This has easily been the best phone I've ever had and I love this phone! I wish it would've had all the crazy development we had with the first EVO. That was so much fun. Everytime you would log on to the forum you never knew what new thing would be there. Which is funny because I almost exclusively ran warm or virus but I read everything. Needless to say, I love this phone and I am excited to see this new one.
I also have to say that the development for this phone is, although not as heavy and as many, I think it is definitely WAY better. Mikey, and superjelly, and these others are really throwing solid builds. I just miss the buzz that used to be here.
Unless the galaxy s4 has something to deter me away then the HTC One it is.
