So, it begins lol, Awesome.
YES!!!!
Awesome work you big dud! Lol just spell my name right from now on lol
Noob Q1: We flash the ROM in "Download Stable Releases". Then as nightly updates occur, we flash them, too (if we so desire)? Is that essentially the game plan?
Noob Q2: Would a physical delete (or move to ext sd card) of any directories and files that we put on internal storage, essentially take care of the "Anything on internal storage will be moved to a "0" folder " or do we only need to worry about files and directories that aren't on "/storage/sdcard0" (with the same action of move or delete)?

Q1: yes, that's correct.
Q2: a physical delete and move prior to first install will take care of it. It's just an "issue" with the upgrade to 4.2 and emulated storage devices. After the first install, this isn't needed and all files will show up on internal as usual. This reminds me that internal and external both mount on PC. MTP also works.

Nothing needs to be done to access ext SD. To get Google play you need to install gapps.

Well, "Duh" as my kids would say, on #3.
Heck yea, thank you! I'm no longer tempted to convert!
synergye, On my phone the contacts app doesn't recognize the ext sd card, nor does the file manager. The file manager that I restored using TiBu can see/access the ext sd card (Windows Explorer via MTP connection can also, for that matter).
I, and I'm sure many others, would love if someone did a video review on YouTube.
Excuse my noob question, but is this kind of rom (aosp) supposed to be the "best" kind? as opposed to an LG skinned stock rom? This is my first android =-)

Here you go, guys. There are 2 versions of this ROM, odex and deodex. This is a STOCK ROM, the only changes being:
Rooted (su located in /system/bin)
Busybox
Everything else is left stock! I encourage any developers to use this as a base, I have no issues whatsoever with that, just please credit me if you do use it
Requirements
HTCdev Unlock (Choose "All Other Supported Models" and follow all the directions, including driver install)
Custom recovery - I would recommend TWRP since it doesn't have the /misc issue anymore
How to flash
Download your choice of ROM below and place on your internal_sdcard or sdcard (doesn't matter, just remember where you put it!)
Go into Settings > Power > Fast Boot and uncheck that.
Turn the phone off. Once off, press and hold the Volume Down + Power Button until you reach the white bootloader screen
Choose "RECOVERY" (volume down and up to move, power to select)
You SHOULD make a backup by tapping on the "Backup" button. You are not required, but I would recommend it.
You also SHOULD manually wipe cache, dalvik-cache, and factory reset (wipe /data). This can be done by tapping on the "Wipe" button. Choose those 3 options (and even system if you want, even though the install script does that for you)
Choose "Install" and locate the ROM wherever you put it. NOTE: If you don't see it, make sure that either internal_sdcard or sdcard is mounted. This can be done via the "Mount" button at the main menu of TWRP. Be sure that either internal_sdcard or sdcard is checked!
Wait until the install is finished and then tap "Reboot to System"

Yeah, it's kind of weird.
Disk drive - mounts sdcard
media sync - mounts sdcard as card and internal storage as phone
file system sees them as microsd= /sdcard2 and internal storage= /sdcard
And internal storage also has an ext_sd which seems to be a replicated microsd?
I dunno, I'm tired.

Yeah I'm not talking about installing apps I was using on a new ROM, I'm talking about being able to create a backup that INCLUDES the partition being used by Link2SD. As it is right now 4ext recovery is not seeing that partition and I'm not sure why. Neither is OBackup.

because I need more space on my phone's internal storage.
http://www.link2sd.info/
it is not the same as using the Android "move to SD" that is built in. what it does is after you create a second partition on your SD card, it makes your phone think it's part of it's internal storage, thus allowing you to install an ungodly amount of apps It uses sim-linking, if I'm correct. Check out the site it will give you more info. I love it. I made the second partition with GPARTED on a linux box. I may try doing it from recovery but I will have to wipe my entire sdcard for that and I didn't want to have to do that. I can test it with another sdcard and see if the new partition created is able to be used by link2sd then also backed up by the recovery. I'll have to check that out.

Yes, I understand..
I have not used sd2link since the Htc Desire(which was very low memory) and Desire HD2 (windows/android)...
I find now, that most app's/apk's now use the sdcard
and a app like app2sd keeps you informed
Ext3 or Ext4 must be used for Ext.
More common way of increasing memory is to swap internal with a ext4 on a fast sd card.:victory:
None of this, probably, is no help to you...
If you are rooted, you could use Titanium
Hope some of this helps .... Good luck

"Other" is anything on internal storage that doesn't fit the description of the other categories. The ROM alone is probably a GB or more. Also did you make a Titanium backup, or nandroid? Those take up storage, also.
I like to keep a known good ROM or nandroid (but not both, as that is excessive) on internal storage or removable SD, in case anything goes wrong I can restore with one of those (although you can pretty easily get it on the phone or SD if needed, so its just for convenience). But aside from that, its not necessary to keep the ROM zip.

Did you outright delete the nandroid, or at least move/copy to your computer or SD first? You have 17 GB free, so unless you make a copy, discarding backup data for the sake of unneeded space seems like a poor trade-off.
Do you understand that flashing a ROM does not wipe the internal storage? So anything you saved there before the flash is still there. Unless you choose the option in recovery to wipe storage, which will then of course cause you to lose any personal data stored there (backups, photos, etc.).

There are various apps to look at storage, but I find that one to have a cool and useful interface:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage&hl=en
It visually shows you how much space a folder is taking up, and you can then tap on it to drill down.

ok, I got up and running the folder mount. So How can I do this? What folder I have to transfer to sd card, if I want the apps to be saved there?

Just use the app analyzer and select the app that uses up most space.

Here this works great. Did it also work for you?
Some people will perhaps find useful read some information on Google about how to use the Folder Mount.
If you use Kitkat perhaps you'll also need the JRummy "SD Kitkat Fixer", available on the Google Play.
What I was looking for to able to go to the settings; apps; and chose what apps I want to move to the sd card. I still don't know how to move the app. Somebody please tell me?

I am using a Sony Xperia Ultra with 4.4.4. I forgot how I rooted it, I am not an expert followed somebody instructions step by step
So I saw photos when they showing on 4.4.4 Sony has an option to send to sd card next to the app name in the settings.
I tried to follow this thread and I only able to move what in the Android/OBB folder. But I had only 2 games there. So where are the apps located? Why is my Sony doesn't have an option for moving apps to Sd?
hello
search google for whitepaper_EN_c6802_c6806_c6833_c6843_xl39h_8.pdf
page 40 and the apps (data) are in /storage/emulated/0/Android/data or sdcard/Android/data
folder mount will move it to /storage/sdcard1/Android/data it exists in both when folder is mounted in foldermount unmounted magically disappears from the internal sd
freeing the space your after
