I was using my phone the other day everything was fine I put it down looked back to it and I saw it was off I just thought the battery was flat I brought it home to charge and it wouldn't charge.
When I try to charge it nothing happens but on the back around the area of the camera gets hot. I took this to a repair shop down the road and they said that they fix a lot of the phones by changing the flex at the bottom, I tried this but that still doesn't work.
What is wrong with it? Is it software or hardware?
Why does that area get hot?
This is a last ditch attempt before I just sell the phone on for spares but it would be great if anyone could help!
Thanks

What phone version do you have? normal i9100 or i9100G etc.
I don't know anything about hardbricking your phone, but i think you need an usb jig.

Well done

Send it in for repair but say nothing about odin or root
I have sent for repair
Already sent for repair. I said it would not switch on or charge. To be honest I feel that samsung need to address this issue as if the operating system fails on a pc you can reload and away you go. The same should be said for a phone. There should be a fail safe that always puts the phone back to download mode. I thought the jig was the answer but not always so BE CAREFUL.
I sent my phone to tmobile they repaired it free
Repair Description
- Calibration
- Software update
- Replacement - A/S ASSY-PBA MAIN(COMM)GT_I9100

Nope a USB recovery jig may enable download mode or even a JTag repair would be cheaper than paid for Samsung service .

Same wonder
My SGS2 is hard bricked, no question about it. Nothing happens no matter what button press, usb connection etc. Dead as a doornail.
From what I've read the JIG will only help if you have, at bare minimum, backlights or a vibration when you hit the power button. As I have literally nothing this means I'm 'hard' bricked in which case the JIG shouldn't work.
I've a JIG on order and should arrive tomorrow. I'll try every which way with it, button combos, plugging in USB, removing and replacing battery etc. If i get any response or any success I'll report back. If not, I've found a few places that can JTAG so I'll go that route and again report back.
My phone is only a month old and recently started doing this..
when i plug my phone to the charger it goes straight to kies/ active driving mode/ voice commands
same thing happens when i plug it to computer via USB
and when i power off the device it restarts by itself.. same thing happens when i remove the battery, it starts immediately when i return it without pressing the power button.
My phone is rooted and I can't take it back to the retailer, I don't know if there's any way to unroot the phone so the retailer dont find out that my phone was rooted. I have seen many people online facing the same problem but it seems like none of them have found a solution. if there's any please let me know.

Okay just tell me how to unroot it and make it not visible to the company that my phone was rooted. Anyone?
Just flash your Stock firmware again, you will be un-rooted. Use USB Jig to reset ROM counter if you need.
Regards.
umm thanks for the reply.. is there's anyway i can reset the counter without that USB jig? it's kinda hard for me to get it since my country is almost a warfare now.

...nope...but I don't think you need for it...it seems an hardware problem so I do not think that service people will go to check counter if they find an original samsung firmware on booting

Your country is almost at warfare, and you are more concerned about a phone...
Anyways, you can easily get a 300k resistor. Grab a spare MicroUSB cable, then cut the plug out, plug in the MicroUSB into your phone, then use the resistor and connect to PIN 4 and PIN 5.
You don't need to buy one, just make one.
Hi Guys!!,
I have an S2 and sadly while doing an update through ODIN, it was interrupted in between and got "ODIN FAIL " message. After that, I tried doing a hard reset, soft reset and even connecting my phone to different computers but somehow there seems to be no life in the phone. Good news is, I know there is nothing wrong with the hardware(as i got it checked by a technician). I just want to know how to start the phone, just to see the symbol, so that i can have it reflashed.Battery has also been completly charged , yet no change
Model:- i9100
Please help.. you guys are the only ones who can help

1. Is there any sign of life at all in the phone? Can the phone light up at all?
2. Remove the battery for few minutes ( up to 10mins), the try again if there is sign of life)
If after trying 1 and 2, there is still no sign of life in your phone, then you can simply conclude that Your bootloader has probably been messed up, and therefore your device is hardbricked!
Solution 1:
1. JTAG repair
2. Samsung service repair (free if your device is still under warranty)

Have you tried a USB Jig? If you can get into download mode with it you can flash a new firmware through odin, and if not then Jtag probably the only thing that would help.

I'm not 100% sure. But if you get the right recovery Odin it to your phone. I just bricked my phone the same way. I'm on MK2. I tried Odin and the MK2 tar. But that didn't work. Now my phone says. Go to Kies recovery Have you tried holding down power/Home and volume down to see if u can get into download mode. If u can't. Then your battery might be dead. Phone won't charge if in bricked state.

It's time to watch the windows device manager to see what appears.
Windows/Break (hold down the windows key, then press break). For windows 7, then click on "Device Manager".
Open that and then plug in the phone and see what appears.

That's bad news - that's the low-level Qualcomm boot loader. You may be stuck having to find someone to fix it by JTAG'ing the device.
Google around for "Galaxy S4 QHSUSB_DLOAD" - there's nothing flashable for the I545 that I could find right away.
ya i just did some searching for that too looks like JTAG is the only way. found a place that will do it for $60 plus shipping. not to bad in the grand skeam of things compaired to buying a new phone thats cheap.
if anyone needs it heres the link..

One reason why many of us stress to take time to read and research before leaping into nodding your phone. It takes time but will save time and money in the long run.
