[Q] [Strange] [HELP] problem with flashing my S II - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a very strange problem with my Galaxy S II
I was on RR rom and then moved to leaked JB 4.1.2 and stayed on it for months,, A few days age I tried to install Thebyani stock rom which is just an deodexed rom of the official Spain LS8 firmware. when the device boot up after flashing the rom via recovery I had no Lockscreen at all!! and the device restart after long pressing power button and in other instances too.
I was so confused and went back to the leaked LSJ via odin and my problem was that the welcome screen doesn't show up!! I mean the first boot up options. I tried everything possible to reset the device completely and non of them could bring that welcome screen appear. I tried factory reset from recovery with wiping all kind of caches, then I reflashed the LSJ firmware with .pit file and re-partition option and still no welcome screen. I also tries Phzilla kernel to use its option of wiping everything before flashing a rom but nothing happened. The last thing I did was resetting the phone from settings with formatting SD and Internal storage and removing the sim, but of course none of it worked.
I wonder if any one suffered from this problem and what to do whit it!!.
Could you please help? Thanks in advanced.

Root (CF-Kernel) --> Stock Firmware --> S2 just booting, no reacrtion

Hello,
I installed the CF-Kernel to my S2. After that, I installed the resurrection remix rom.
Now I wanted to install the stock firmware again, so I downloaded the stock rom, where I thought, that this is the one that my S2 had after starting it the first time.
I installed this official firmware: http://androidfirmwares.net/PhoneFirmware/Download/35
DBT seems to be the right for my german S2, and it had the number "XWLP7"
It's also a Galaxy S2 i9100. Not the G version.
Could someone please help me out? My S2 is just booting, it won't start. It's just showing the official boot screen for over 30 minutes now. Even a reinstall via odin didn't work.
Thanks a lot in advance!
when changing from a custom rom to a stock rom, it is essential to perform a wipe / factory reset. shut down the phone (if you are still booting ) and boot into recovery and do the wipes from there, format data, cache, dalvik cache and fix permissions.

[Q] Soft Brick after Factory Reset [RR]

I'm on the latest Resurrection Remix rom and whenever i factory reset the rom from with the phone menu "Back & Reset", I get stuck at the Galaxy S2 logo upon restart. I cannot even access recovery and my only option is to install a stock rom via odin and start all over again. Does anyone one face the same issue and is there a fix for this?
P.S. I select the erase SD card option aswell.
no idea about RR, but after wipe, phone takes time to first boot.

why do u want to do erase sdcard option every time , i think its not needed and also if ur updating from one ver of RR to another, and u have no issues in the previous ver of RR then simply flash the new ver without factory reset and after booting go back to recovery wipe cache and dalvik and reboot back thats enough
Ofcourse i don't do it everytime but I tried it once and the issue is still there. I know the rom takes time to boot after reset but this actually soft bricks the phone. You can't even go into the recovery.
work around
I don't know a fix for it, but you can do everything from CWM,
it always works great for me.
here's a tutorial

I have GT-I9100.. Like I said, everything works fine but soft bricks if i reset the phone while selecting the erase SD card option.. There are no other issues. Was just wondering if someone else has it too.
Once you get the ROM up and running then change the kernel.Kernels are normally the reason for phones not booting and bricking. You can stay on the same type of kernel just re-flash an earlier one,a stable version,or even try a different one all together.
I think it on v3.3.2 so flash a previous kernel and see.It should solve your problems.

I'm using Resurrection Remix ics v2.5.2 as second rom and faced some issues with USB mount and opening Update menu in Setting. Seems like there is some problems with SD card in Resurrection Remix ics v2.5.2.

I have the same issue, it has happened to me twice, the first time after doing a factory reset while on resurrection remix and the second time while using cMIUI. I have no idea why, but the issue is there.

[Q] Won't boot, worked fine, then bootloop, now it freezes (using CM9 ICS Nightly)

Hi Friends,
Model Number - GT-P7510
I recently rooted and installed the CM9 ICS nightly rom using the noob video instructions (This included rooting with Odin, installing CMW recovery 4.0.0.4, then I flashed the ROM cm-9-20120624 Nightly and finally flashed GAPPS-ics).
I over clocked using the CM9 settings and everything worked perfectly for about a week, it was great. Then it just crashed while I was reading my email and began to bootloop. After reading for similar errors I rebooted to recovery and tried wiped the cache and dalvic cache, I wiped data and factory reset several times but nothing worked, always the same bootloop. I re flashed the same ROM and still nothing, after a while the boot screen would simply freeze instead of bootloop.
Then I connected to my PC, and did this to no avail. In fact it simply added to the problem by adding a yellow warning triangle while attempting to boot so I did the Oden thing again like the first time I rooted however I installed CMW version 5.5.0.4 instead thinking it might help but it hasn't.
One last point, when I attempt to wipe data/factory reset the tablet seems to freeze and attempt to reboot rather than say something like "success" as it would during a cache wipe. This maybe normal or it maybe the problem! who knows?
On that point, I would be very grateful if some of you could help get me to the point when my PC recognises the tablet so I can reflash a new ROM.
Thanks in advance,
Karl
I once got the same problem. The only thing that helped was to flash back the stock rom via Odin with the pit file. And don't forget to do a hard reset after flashing the rom. I'll just stick to the stock rom until the official update is getting released.
Sent from my GT-P7501 using xda app-developers app
Questions go in the Q&A section
I think the best way is still to do factory reset, go back to the stock ROM first and try custom HC ROM until the official ICS is released.

if you have custom rom or stock rom coocked the kies cant help you.
do these solutions in order :
>>>solution 1 : in recovery do facotry reset and install rom , wip cache and dalvick. the first boot take time. so wait. if not worck try to format system before flashing rom.
>>>solution 2 : factory reset in recovery then install stock firemware by odin after flash is complete enter to recovery and do factory reset again. the first boot take time. so wait.
>>>solution 3 (danger, do it only if you give up if you dont have any other solution) : flash stock firmeware with odin but cheek nand erase all in odin, after flash is complete enter to recovery and do factory reset(compulsory).the first boot take time. so wait.
use latest odin version.
good luck.

I need some serious help please!

Hi i have a galaxy s5 (sm-g900f) i had a lollipop rom and i wanted a marshmallow rom, when i got home i flashed via odin modem and BL , then did a wipe and flashed a custom marshmallow rom but it didnt boot, i waited like 30 minutes and didn't boot, i tried cleaning cache, factory reset, persisted. then i flashed via odin an official marshmallow rom and the same happened but when i cleaned cache and boot up it appeared "starting applications" then the boot logo stayed for another 20minutes and nothing happened... i tried superswipe too and i don't know what is happening, i'm awake for a long time trying to figure it out...
Please help :crying:
Don't worry. Can you still get it into download mode, or if you have a custom recovery, recovery mode?
If you can fix this, install LiveBoot, you can see what your phone will pause on if it happens again
