[Q] Add commands in multi-language dictation package? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, first of all...I don't know if this is the right forum section for this question (if it isn't, I'm sorry about that...but after all I have a Galaxy S III ).
I know that the offline google dictation is able to write "?" "," "." if you say "question mark" "comma" or any other punctuation. Unfortunately, the italian (and also others international package, I think...) has not this feature and it's very annoying change the text you just dictated every 2 words...D:
Now, my question is: Is there any way to modify the multi-language dictation packages and add the punctuation dictation feature? Where is the right folder where are downloaded these package? I found the "/system/usr/srec" folder but I don't think it's the right one...There is only the "en-US" folder inside..
If someone with more experience in Modding or developing could help me would be fantastic...and I'm sure that a lot of italian people would be very happy...

One more question: could someone say me a good category in this forum for this question? Thanks..

I think this is as good a place as any, you could try the main general forum(not s3 general you would get slaughtered for that! Lol).....but it's going to take someone brave to get into the guts of Google voice recognition, my suggestion is contact Google and hassle them, I'm sure this feature will come to all languages eventually, so might be a case of being patient.

Possible to add (ÆØÅ) letters into a Rom?

Ok, I'm from Nowrway, and have installed Tom_Codons ROM, The only problem is that it is missing 3 letters, æ,ø,and å.
Is it possible to extract these letters from a Norwegian Rom, and add it to Tom's?
That would have been great
And while I write this new thread.
I have to use the "abc" input method because Tom's Rom, doesen't got Norwegian xT9. Is it Possible to add that? That would have been even greater
I thourght it was only in Denmark we use ÆÅØ hehe, but would be nice to know, there is a lot of nice roms that is a pain to use becorse they are missing that

You are right *G* i thinked the same
We got it in Norway to
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzæøå
Hehe
And you guy's from Denmark don't know how to do it either?
Workaround that kinda works....
Hi Guys,
I'm not a Rom Chef nor a Dev guy.
However, I've been struggling with the same problem. My way to work around it was to to add my Danish words into the 'autocorrect' file on your device and "teaching" the customer dictionary the words for it.
E.g by typing FAAR, autocorrect with fix it to FÅR, KAERE to KÆRE and KOERE to KØRE. Spelling of the old days, but it works
A number of steps to do to get there the first time, so I suggest you search the forum for the thread that explains best to you how to amend the autocorrect file.
As I said, not the ideal solution, but it works for me until a better alternative is available.
My two cents worth.

Porting Windows Mobile ROM to HINDI

Hi Everybody,
I would like to port Windows mobile to Hindi ( devnagari ).
My question is, is it possible ? As I don't see anybody posting Lang files for Hindi. Is Microsoft making any lang files for HINDI in first place ?
If Yes, where can we get them from, or whom can I contact to get them ?
If No, then I was wondering if we can hex mod the lang files and port them to Hindi.
you felt a need to start a new thread to just ask this question??????????????
See, its general tendency of every new comer to create a thread, to even just ask a smile question.
Its better we senior members understand that we can't stop people from creating new threads for simple things. So better we totally ingnore these kind of thread's, instead of keep posting again and again same old " WHY CREATE THREAD TO ASK A QUESTION " on every thread created and keeping thread up in the order. Also posting these kind of post always give's wrong impression about us.
So, If you know something usefull, post it. Don't know anything about it, keep quite !! Don't post any thing at all. Gratually thread will go down the order.
Between I think, he has toasted a Valid Question.
Da_G has explained how to port a ROM to different languages. HERE But that applies only when you has the required files.
Not sure if MS and HTC are making any lang file in Devnagiri (Hindi). Also I am not sure about Hex modding lang files.
The problem is with HTC & Microsoft. Moreover not many people are yelling to have hindi on their mobile phones. I am talking about Indian's themselves. We prefer english more than Hindi. Although its not impossible to have Hindi on PPC since we have seen it implementing in one of ppc software like linvosoft hindi dictionary.
Moreover ppc phones are used more by elite & its not masses phone & elite prefer english as well & thus Microsoft or HTC are not bothered to implement this in practise. In case someone is willing to put it practise, my assistance is always there.

Porting languages in Ervius Visual Kitchen using the posted language packs
He is talking about posted language packs, its not the way to develop a language pack for PPC. If I get it wrong plz correct me. I am there with all my support whenever required.
Sunny
S you are right!!!!!!
Yes you are Right He is just telling how to port languages which is posted languages that means we can create languages Na.... thank you for your support.
atleast if we cant port fully We change notifications like
Start, New Text message, and some notifications to hindi na.
You can create languages with an appropriate measure, but its no where related to what Sir.Da_g is mentioning. Lolz.
Let's get some information & see if we make any change in this.
Yes Sure
Sure i am waiting for some more people to participate in this project. who knows the GEne porting Very Well.....
no no, its not about Gene my friend, its about all windows mobile devices. The platform needs a change not any particular device. If we could able to do something well on this, we will be moved to dev & hacking section. but right now our developments don't really deserve such change.
Hmm, Interesting....
Ok, lets start with IM'ing the guys who get us these new build and find out if any lang files do exists for HINDI.
I mean requesting DA_G/TOM/MONEYBAPE

Any other languages on Photon 4G?

I wood love to know if there are availiable any other locales except English and Espaniol? And what about keyboard input languages, the same issue, only english?
I'm for example interested in Ukrainian locale and keyboard (or Russian). MAybe there is a way to get it?
For keyboard, try Gingerbread keyboard from the Market, and install the respective language. I believe they have Russian. I have Norwegian installed on mine. Hopefully that helps. As for the other part, I don't know of anything to help ya. Sorry.
Edit...
https://market.android.com/developer?pub=Steven+Lin&start=12&num=12
Tell me if that works for ya. It's a link to the guy who has the keyboard and the language pack for Russian. Page 2.
Thanks, I will try that.
And if I will flash custom rom (Alien for example), will I get more than just two (english and espaniol) locales?
Not on home base. And I don't recall Alien being any different. So I'm gonna have to say no. Unless someone makes a ROM with that option built in. I think you're gonna be stuck with those two language options.
That's not good at all ))))
Yeah. If you wanna tackle trying to make a ROM, there is a thread in here that has books you can download and learn how to do it and such. And make your own with whatever language you want, I'd assume.

))) This must be the hardest way. But I woud try if there is no other way
It's the only way I can think of Bud.
Can you give me a link for those books? And other links for making a rom, if you know such.
Where in this rom 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6-CM-release-keys-signed-Sprint-US.sbf are localization language files? And how they can be added?
Can be taken localization files from HTC roms and added into this rom?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284998
That's the link. And you'd have to see if someone here who is a bit more familiar with rom's can answer that. I would assume you can use it as a base then try to pull the files and put them in. But don't quote me on that, cause I'm not totally sure. Hope that helps out some though.
I didn't have any problems with adding Russian keyboard for writing in photon. It was in 154.5 firmware and in latest too.

Yes it'avaliable, I was just inattentive.
But still I want Ukrainian interface and keyboard)) or at least Russian...
There is one more question. Phone receives USSD incorectly. What can be wrong? And how to fix it?
For example when I want to check my balance, I send *#111# and receive empty massage.

[Q] Voice typing punctuation problem (for Spanish language)

Hi,
Hope there's someone out here that can help me out.
I'm trying to use ICS voice recognition on my SGII. It has nice recognition, but I can't seem to enter any punctuation at all. It works ok with English, but in Spanish, whenever I say "punto", "coma", "signo de interrogación", etc. it just writes that down instead of the actual punctuation.
Does anyone know why is that or if there's a solution? I can't believe Google released Spanish voice typing without addressing this issue. I've checked the Android OS support page (for Nexus devices) and it just says I need to say those words, but it doesn't work.
Very frustrating. :crying:

Well ... You're not alone in there
I would like to post the links about the several issues reported on Android support ... but I'm not able to post links yet
Anyway if you go Android Project on Google , in Issues and search for "Punctuation" , you'll find the same issue for German / Italian / French.
Pretty much , punctuation is not working anywhere but English ...
Spanglish doesn't work?
Well, I have a Galaxy S III but I'm sure that this is the same problem...:/
I've tried to download the italian offline dictation package but, as spanish, It doesn't work for "question mark" or other punctuation command.
Now my question is: Is there any way to modify the multi-language dictation packages and add the punctuation dictation feature? Where is the right folder where are downloaded these package? I'm sorry to bring up this old thread but this is still an issue for me, did you guys ever fixed this?

No, there is no fix and google is ignoring all the reported issues on code.google.com. Not a single answer from them since this was first reported on November 2012 (and this despite the fact the thousands of users have starred the different issues and commented on them).
Same issue is also affecting German / French and possibly other non-English languages.
I think we can safely assume they don't care and this will not get fixed anytime soon.

I noticed that my Nexus 4 with Android 5.1.1 is able to recognise a few punctuation commands in Italian. I will explore this further but 'punto' and 'nuovo paragrafo' do what the are expected to do.

Not in spanish. It still writes the word instead.

[Q] Editing an apk

Hello. I'm trying to translate an app, and need your help.
I'm trying to translate the Contacts app to Hebrew. Yes, I know. It already exists in Hebrew.
Thing is, what I want to do (which Local doesn't help with) is changing the letters sidebar. You know, the ones that you can press and it will go to the selected letter. It rolls.
What I want to do is change those "a, b, c.. z" letters to Hebrew. That way, pressing a letter on that sidebar will actually point to the name in Hebrew. No point in having Hebrew names, but an English index.
Sorry for over-killing with my explanation, but that was kinda hard for me to explain lol
I've already looked in Values folder of SecContacts, but it isn't there.
Can anyone help?
Oh yeah, I've installed both framework files already.

XDA Development Android hacking development and chef central may be a better source as devs don't inhabit Q&A much these days .
