[Q] from T-mobile branded to unbranded - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I seached alot before i posted this, so i hope someone can help me.
I have i9100 S2 with
PDA i9100BOLPM / i9100 BOLP7 / i9100TNLLP8 wich is branded by T-mobile Netherlands. ( ICS )
I want to flash JellyBean, now someone told me this I9100XWLSD_I9100XENLS1_XEN is safe for me to flash troug Odin.
(Q1) I wonder if this is true.
Than, because of the exploit in ICS i used the ExynosAbuse APK v1.40 to disable the exploit. I also rooted my phone.
In the App is this thing to unroot all, so:
(Q2) will this give a problem when flashing the above since i rooted before?
(Q3) Will i have to perform full wipe ( fact. reset) before i flash or will it be better to not?
I hope someone can give me an answer, i searched a lot, than i read diferent answers to same queastions all over....
Thank you for your time.

This is you right now:
- rooted on branded ICS (4.0.3? 4.0.4? )
If on 4.0.4, I'm sure you read about brick bug.
want to flash JB? You can via odin / mobile odin.
wipes? not mandatory but you are flashing an unbranded ROM over a branded one...might be wise.
Best choice? Flash jb via mobile odin with wipes and EverRoot.
Again, if on 4.0.4...you know what to do (flash siyah, just in case).
That ROM you mentioned is safe to flash.
you might wanna read a couple of the official jb thread pages before attempting any of these.

[Q] Which Firmware do I need?

Hello dear XDA community,
I used litening Rom now for a while and I think you all make a good job in this forum.
The problem is, I forgot to look which firmware I had before I flashed my device (idiot). Now I want to flash the stock firmware on my device but I dont know which one I need. Is there a way to find out, which Firmware I had before I flashed my device?
My friend bought the same device on the same day and the same market and he has now ( after the update) this firmware: XXKI1
Can I use the same one?
Regards,
Anil.
Dont worry i did the same thing when i first rooted my phone..Forgot to bloody back it up. Anyway click on the link and you will have a guide with firmware how to flash it and what regions there from.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
First, Thank you. Second: But how about the warranty. I mean if samsung see that the firmware is not that firmware which it should be, I will lost my warranty. And where is XXKI1 in the list? I cant find it.
first if you scroll down you can see in big bright red letters this announcement in the thread
All packages below this point have the old bootloader so you can safely reset the binary counter with a Jig.
so i will be honest i have not heard of KI2 firmware...how long ago did you buy your handset? what region are you from? take that all into consideration choose the area you are from and flash away.. and trust me as long as your on stock firmware and reset your counter with the jig you are fine..no worries nothing....so flash back to official use the jig and bam..and thats it your official and stocked again
Sorry I mean XWKI4. That was the firmware. You said I should look when I bought the product. Is that the build date, like in the stock rom list, because I cant find any other informations in the list that country and build date?

hi there!
i made the same mistake by flashing a new firmware on my sgs2 with odin and i was silly enough to not write down the version that was installed before.. now i have a fw with the telecom brand. that fw works fine so far but i want to have the original back if that is possible.
so i looked up ur link and found that i need a fw with the letters XX.
but there are a few fw's with XX
which one should i use?

[Q] Flashing difference between HTC Desire & SGS 2

Hi Guys
I have recently bought new SGS II phone. I have been using HTC Desire and got more than 1 year of flashing experience almost every week i used to flash new ROM or updates to MIUI Rom. Touch wood i never bricked my phone.
I have rooted my SGS 2 with CF root method. Flashing Samsung device seems to be confusing me. There are so many kernels, Firmwares and even themes are dependent upon which firmware i am running.
I used to flash any rom for HTC desire without worrying about which firmware i originally got.
My carrier is T-mobile UK and running Kernel 2.6.35.7 KG2, can i flash any latest kernel or i need to match anything ?
My firmware is I9100BOKG1, can i update this to any firmware or it must be from UK and same carrier ?
Basically i do not understand what i can do and what i can not. I have searched for these all information everywhere on google but can not find any satisfactory answer.
Expert guys please help me.

Read and learn is the only way .

No flash anything bar ICS.

If you flash a kernel you will lose TMobile update path .
You can simply upgrade via the stock roms thread which debrands your phone or wait for TMobile upgrade but root may throw that out as its not the kernel that came with the phone .
Best solution is to read post one full of how to stickies .

[Q] how to install ICS old bootloader

Hello to everybody.
First of all I need to tell that this is my first post in this huge community, so as you could understand I am so totally noob, besides I am from Latin America so excuse me for my bad english.
I have a S3 I9300 (bought on december 2012) and I am feeling worry about the sudden death issue, according with what I've read one of the possible causes of this issue might be the bootloader of the jelly bean, so they recommend to install old bootloader the one which came with the ICS 4.0.4, but doing this may brick my device.
So my question is does worth the risk to install this old bootloader? another thing is that I have the red exclamation mark when the phone is booting (I am currently using Sotmax v12 rom with Yank555 2.8f kernel).
And in case the answer is yes do someone has tutorials or video of how this should be done?
Thanks in advance for your help
See the post how to flash old bootloader right next to this post .
Question = Q&A please .

Thank you for your response, I've read the thread you suggest and I still do not understand some aspects like:
1.- Do I need to be on 4.0.4 Stock to flash the bootloader?
2.- In order to flash the bootloader just need to place the ICS old bootloader XXALEF provided in the thread in the bootloader section in Odin 3? or is needed to do another procedure first? do I lost root?
I am sorry to bother you, but I want to be sure about what I am going to do before try to do it.
Thanks
I think do what you see in the other thread.
The trick is look for a country that has not gotten uodated to JB 4.1.2. Stuck at 4.1.1. DL the last 4.04 (ICS) of that country. Flash it via Odin. Then upon first boot (dont root in the mean time) let it update to 4.1.1 via the phone's OTA Software Update. This is the key part when a JB 4.1.1 Bootloader will be installed that will break the XXELLA bootloader's protection.
After that OTA update is finished (285 MB file) then you can flash that XXALEF ICS Bootloader through PC Odin.
Then do root or wahteva you want.
This is described in Dr Love's thread. I'd done this way.
Another way is this one.

Thank you so much for your response. I will try the second method and see what happens.
Sorry for my persistence.
Now I understand almost every step on the procedure to downgrade the old bootloader, but one still question still remains do I need to be on 4.0.4 stock to downgrade or it does not matter what firmware I am using?
Thanks for your help

SGS2 Update Failed. HELP PLEASE

Hello, lovly xda-Members and Supporters,
I'll start so my mother and I use the same smartphone - Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 ...
When she came back home from work and she told me that there is an update for this, I was blown away,
I was looking through the manual setting on the phone for an update, but it said: No update available ...
So, all well and good, then I tried to update via Samsung Kies, Samsung Kies now says to me: Software update via Samsung Kies is not supported by your device ...
I Did something really silly the other day as i flashed a rom to my Galaxy S2 i9100 and i stupidly forgot to back up my stock firmware.
Is there a possibility to get my old firmware again?
I live in Germany.
& I'd love to have this update on my phone.
Each answer is helpful and I thank you once in advance!

You most definitely can return to stock, but if you didn't back up whatever data you had before flashing the new ROM, then they're gone (assuming you wiped before flashing). You'll find all the firmwares you want here:
http://www.sammobile.com/
I'm assuming that you had ICS before flashing the custom ROM, because you said you didn't receive an update, so you can most definitely do that OR, you can manually flash the update you didn't receive yet, which is 4.1.2 JB Anyway, all firmwares are there
Viel Glück

it was for 4.1.2 JB ? my phone is actually 4.0.4, it was allways 4.0.4, so it isn't for my phone anyway ? where can i find stock everything for my phone ? on Sammobile it shows me Taiwan 4.1.2 ...
PS ; Your German ?
In case you still need ICS, Then I'd suggest you google for that. Just search for samsung galaxy S2 4.0.4 firmware. you should find it. It's also helpful if you add your service providor (O2, T-Mobile or any other) just to make sure the phone will work with that network. It's just safer that way
I don't know if we're allowed to post links to outside sources here, but it's enough to say that many German android forums have what you want you just need to search really well
Not German, but I live in Germany :silly:

[Q] Do I need unroot to get stock rom?

Hello everybody
I am new in this forum so please don't hate.
I hade S3 with orginal branded system but it was very slow so i wanted to get orginal rom without branding. I gave my phone to my uncle and he roted it and instaled TWRP (teamwin), galaxy apps and namless rom. This rom is a custom room and it has a lot of problems like: sometimes camera isin't working, widgets are invisible, galaxy apps weren' working (so i made a mistake and deleted it and now other google apps like YT aren't working) and there are a lot of another bugs. I have Odin and orginal version of non branded system from SamMobile. My question is do I need to do unroot before pluging telephone to pc and using odin or this is unnessery? I am new in xda and I don't now much about programing and stuff like this. So please help me!!
I would not use the image file from SamMobile to repair this issue. If you give me your exact model and serial off the sticker under battery, I can get you the Service files you need to COMPLETELY fix your issues.
And NO, your not going to need to unroot the device if you use the Service Files. It will under it for you!
Please let me know!
You can just flash the same rom over it to repair it.
You can flash with odin but im not 100% about debranding. If the phone is unlocked you should be ok using a btu (international) rom.
Make sure you know your efs version if you plan on flashing anything less than 4.3.
The answer to your question is no. You do not need to unroot but you WIll lose root.
Sent from a stolen phone!
The best way is to tell your uncle to restore stock firmware debloated.
Otherwise, find out your baseband version and model number and search xda for the CORRECT rom and flash it using ODIN.
