Hello everybody
I am new in this forum so please don't hate.
I hade S3 with orginal branded system but it was very slow so i wanted to get orginal rom without branding. I gave my phone to my uncle and he roted it and instaled TWRP (teamwin), galaxy apps and namless rom. This rom is a custom room and it has a lot of problems like: sometimes camera isin't working, widgets are invisible, galaxy apps weren' working (so i made a mistake and deleted it and now other google apps like YT aren't working) and there are a lot of another bugs. I have Odin and orginal version of non branded system from SamMobile. My question is do I need to do unroot before pluging telephone to pc and using odin or this is unnessery? I am new in xda and I don't now much about programing and stuff like this. So please help me!!
I would not use the image file from SamMobile to repair this issue. If you give me your exact model and serial off the sticker under battery, I can get you the Service files you need to COMPLETELY fix your issues.
And NO, your not going to need to unroot the device if you use the Service Files. It will under it for you!
Please let me know!
You can just flash the same rom over it to repair it.
You can flash with odin but im not 100% about debranding. If the phone is unlocked you should be ok using a btu (international) rom.
Make sure you know your efs version if you plan on flashing anything less than 4.3.
The answer to your question is no. You do not need to unroot but you WIll lose root.

The best way is to tell your uncle to restore stock firmware debloated.
Otherwise, find out your baseband version and model number and search xda for the CORRECT rom and flash it using ODIN.

Morning All.
Recently purchased a Galaxy S2, and love the phone. Upgraded from HTC Desire. and a couple of questions in regard to rooting as its a different process.
Is there a way to create a backup of the phone in its original state, so I can restore if necessary, eg ido something stupid and the phone falls flat?
Also, with the desire I used to install custom roms using Clockword mod, is the same available in the Galaxy S2?
Interested in rooting the handset to get rid of the optus crap, and install themes, boot animations, roms etc.
I saw this for rotting and would like to know success rate for this method, as its quite different to the desire.

Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Glen.
I have an optus SG2. First thing i did was root it to give super access. Then i flashed it with KE7 to debrand to get rid of the optus bloatware. I found a link somewhere to download the optus stock rom incase something happened. Also bought myself a USB jig to reset counter and to get rid of the triangle.
So far so good. Just playing around with themes (changed to blue), new camera and phone mods. I am thinking about going litepro but unsure if my titanium backup will be able to bring back some of the apps after the flash. Still waiting for an answer in one of the posts.

Hi Glen,
I just received SGS2 yesterday that I bought on eBay and this mobile should be (description says)Optus branded. But I cannot see any Optus software on it. There are only 2 extra aplications - navigation from Navigon and Good Food Guide 2011. So I think this phone has no Optus bloatwares at all.
What Optus applications/software can you see on your phone?
Thank you for your answer.
Petr
Any chance of posting the Optus stock rom ?!
im trying to restore to optus
if someone can please make a backup of their optus rom before flashing please post a link
i have one from a guy from whirlpool but its missing boot.img
so the restore just wont follow through
Same with Gtda, I need the stock rom, and the rom with Optus out atm doesnt have a boot.img, a new 'stock' rom would be sweet!!
Any one at all? Would using a boot.img file from another back up work even tho it won't display the optus boot picture

Having massive reception problems so I have had to flash back to the original Optus Rom from Litening Rom and am sending the handset back to get the thing checked out. I followed the following and everything is back to stock. I also used a reset jib to reset the counter.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278&highlight=root
Hope you get it sorted out?
Hello dear XDA community,
I used litening Rom now for a while and I think you all make a good job in this forum.
The problem is, I forgot to look which firmware I had before I flashed my device (idiot). Now I want to flash the stock firmware on my device but I dont know which one I need. Is there a way to find out, which Firmware I had before I flashed my device?
My friend bought the same device on the same day and the same market and he has now ( after the update) this firmware: XXKI1
Can I use the same one?
Regards,
Anil.
Dont worry i did the same thing when i first rooted my phone..Forgot to bloody back it up. Anyway click on the link and you will have a guide with firmware how to flash it and what regions there from.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
First, Thank you. Second: But how about the warranty. I mean if samsung see that the firmware is not that firmware which it should be, I will lost my warranty. And where is XXKI1 in the list? I cant find it.
first if you scroll down you can see in big bright red letters this announcement in the thread
All packages below this point have the old bootloader so you can safely reset the binary counter with a Jig.
so i will be honest i have not heard of KI2 firmware...how long ago did you buy your handset? what region are you from? take that all into consideration choose the area you are from and flash away.. and trust me as long as your on stock firmware and reset your counter with the jig you are fine..no worries nothing....so flash back to official use the jig and bam..and thats it your official and stocked again
Sorry I mean XWKI4. That was the firmware. You said I should look when I bought the product. Is that the build date, like in the stock rom list, because I cant find any other informations in the list that country and build date?

Hi
I seached alot before i posted this, so i hope someone can help me.
I have i9100 S2 with
PDA i9100BOLPM / i9100 BOLP7 / i9100TNLLP8 wich is branded by T-mobile Netherlands. ( ICS )
I want to flash JellyBean, now someone told me this I9100XWLSD_I9100XENLS1_XEN is safe for me to flash troug Odin.
(Q1) I wonder if this is true.
Than, because of the exploit in ICS i used the ExynosAbuse APK v1.40 to disable the exploit. I also rooted my phone.
In the App is this thing to unroot all, so:
(Q2) will this give a problem when flashing the above since i rooted before?
(Q3) Will i have to perform full wipe ( fact. reset) before i flash or will it be better to not?
I hope someone can give me an answer, i searched a lot, than i read diferent answers to same queastions all over....
Thank you for your time.

This is you right now:
- rooted on branded ICS (4.0.3? 4.0.4? )
If on 4.0.4, I'm sure you read about brick bug.
want to flash JB? You can via odin / mobile odin.
wipes? not mandatory but you are flashing an unbranded ROM over a branded one...might be wise.
Best choice? Flash jb via mobile odin with wipes and EverRoot.
Again, if on 4.0.4...you know what to do (flash siyah, just in case).
That ROM you mentioned is safe to flash.
you might wanna read a couple of the official jb thread pages before attempting any of these.

I want to find a sm-9005 firmware for my sm-900t, at t-mobile, they rooted my phone and installed something called lidroid with this firmware(sm-9005). So I flashed my phone with the sm-900t firmware, but after that happened, it became more annoying with boot sound. The other reasons why I need to find a sm-9005 firmware is because I need all language packs installed, and have it unlocked. So if anyone can help me find a sm-9005 firmware, unlocked or usable in us, with all languages(or just us english with chinese), I won't have to pay t-mobile another $25 dollars, just to just it fixed. But for now, I will try the UK firmware.

Well, when we are talking firmware here for Samsung devices, it means everything : system, modem, bootloader (if applicable), etc. What you would want would be referred to as a rom, which is just the operating system itself. Flashing actual firmware for another device would at best fail at the modem, at worst cause a brick (probably just soft on the T-mobile version). I find it very odd that T-mobile rooted your phone and put on an international based rom. So, now, you have the official T-Mobile firmware flashed through Odin, Kies, or Heimdall, or did you install just a stock based rom through a custom recovery? What update is it on now - Build Version and baseband?
T-mobile rooted it
Also when they rooted it, it came with philz touch recovery, they also voided my knox, and the knox apps were removed, I flashed a stock sm-900t firmware, because I wanted the knox apps, and every time after booting, 45-60 percent of ram were used up, so it was kinda laggy, but who knew lidroid was a good thing for my phone, it enabled me to use any downloaded app for multi task, and also same for pen window. But the kernel bricked the NFC.
I think you're the first person I've heard who WANTS Knox (unless needing it for work or warranty issues). Lol But you didn't answer my questions so I don't have a way to recommend something for you.
I solved it
It was just a rom, I tried using the uk firmware, it failed. at lidroid.com, you can download a rom that can install: sm-9005, sm-9006, sm-9008, sm-n900s roms, the only problem is that it will take about a day(not because of your internet) to download the rom. Thank you everyone that wanted to help me.
hi, i know my english is really bad at least...
