[Q] 4.0.4 Kernels? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hi guys. I am running Black Star XI and im trying to find a kernel that will O/C and Fast Charge. I have been looking around and all the kernels i find are for GB or JB. If someone could link me to a kernel that has the O/C and Fast Charge features that would be most appreciated. Or even give me links to multiples one =). Thanks guys.

I'm on 4.0.4 stock, and I've been using flaps kernel. It oc's if you want, but it's plenty fast on default. Download from goo manager dev/flappjaxxs touchwiz kernel. I don't know about fast charge though, sorry.

Make sure black star is compatible with the kernel before flashing!

Well i tried the kernels and they didnt work properly. The phone booted up but kept having f/c's on system ui.apk and the phone would glitch up. Restored my nandroid and back up and running fine. Anyone happen to know any more kernels for 4.0.4?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium

There are no custom kernels for the n7005 based roms due to not having source. If you want oc on black star then flash version x of the Rom

Thank you. I will look into that!

Looking for testers for a ROM

If you are interested and able to provide helpful feedback, I am looking for a few testers. My rom is based on 2.3.4 and is seriously debloated (120MB). If you need stock apps, this rom may not be for you.
What base is it? (not just android version)

UCKH7 base
UCKH7 modem
Siyah 2.6.7 kernel
Oh damn... that is tempting. I got the absolute best battery life on UCKH7, but man, switching roms is so much work, and the one I currently have is really stable. If only I had an extra SGSII

It's alright, I'm sure others will want to give it a try.
Making another swirl into the ROM business I see brother...welcome back
Yea, I'm actually on my 7th revision of this rom
I'll bite. With nandroid what is there to lose?
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
I like 2.3.4
I like kh7
I like siyah 2.6.7
Count me in!
I would like to try it, might as well because I could test and then nandroid back to my current rom!

I would like to test it out. I have the whole weekend to try something new.

I'm interested but not too interested in Siyah kernel. No offense to any devs I'm just a lot happier with Entropys DD Kernel.

You can flash Entropy's kernel after flashing the ROM.
Sent from myphone.
Just to let everyone know there are known issues with this ROM which is why I am doing private testing. Everyone uses their phone differently and I am always surprised at what kind of feedback I get. I will PM everyone with the download link and all you need to do is PM me back your findings.

Haha I know.
But if Siyah was the intended kernel my test won't be consistent with what is expected.

You could let me know if using DD has a negative effect on the rom. But I guess you'd have to use it at least once with siyah in order to compare.

If you need more testers let me know. I'll play around with it and try a bunch of stuff. Can i drink beer while i do it?
No more testers until the next release. Everyone has been extremely helpful in finding bugs so I thank all of you.
Cool, good luck with it, bro.

[Q] Stock rom Kernels

Hey guys, I'm tired of going up and down the development section looking for some good stock rom kernels.
Does anyone know any good ones? I just tried out the battery extender one RC2.2 and got some reboot issues.
I'm using stocklite V6. I'm trying to see if I can get rid of the little data connection problem I have. Not switching roms because this is the only one I've used that gets me a full 12 hrs on 3G.
Well i guess the CF-ROOT is only the stable one bro. Haven't seen any other stable version in progress for stock.

I get connection problems with Cf-root so I can't keep it :/.
If I wanted to stay with it, I wouldn't have started this thread or looked for any new ones.
Guys whatever we do or use any damn rom or script. The truth is we have weak battery so we have to live with it.

Ummm no no no buddy. Rom depends A LOT. How the hell do I get 12hrs on 3G with Stocklite but I never got past 5 hrs on ANY CM rom I've used? Scripts I know don't do anything because I've tried almost every one out there and they all just give the placebo effect.

Latest Kernel Module, tun.ko?

Hey All,
I finally decided to go down the vpn path, and the Play tun.ko Installer app points me to a list that says it's good for kernel version 2.6.35.7. That sounds like a gb kernel. I'm stock ics with kernel 3.0.16-something.
I've searched the forums here, but didn't find anything. That was a pretty big surprise.
Can anyone out there point me to a currently acceptable version of this module?
Many thanks!
cheers,
john

I hope you hardcores won't mind that I'm reviving this thread---I've spent just a little bit of time educating myself on things.
Let me reframe my original question: I'd like to find a kernel that has tun.ko baked in, and that I can use with my current, stock ICS ROM; can anyone out there help me in that quest?
many thanks,
john

You can still flash a kernel even though you're s-on... Check out Snuzzo's Funky Kernel 2.1 for Sense in the dev section...

...yes, that was what I meant when I said that I'd educated myself just a bit on things. Still, there are some nuances to flashing kernels that I'm quite positive mean that I have more to learn to figure things out fully.
Anyway, I'll take a look at Snuzzo's kernel.
cheers,
john

Need for speed issues?

Does anyone else have an issue with need for speed most wanted? It lags like crazy for me on cleanrom 3.5 with the stock kernel.
Runs perfect for me on stock

I find it funny that people need to overclock for something that runs fine on stock.
Maybe you should just remove the offending party, be it rom or kernel?

I guess ill try the perseus kernel after work and see what it does.
Runs fine on rooted stock.
I'm on beanstown's rooted stock deodexed ROM with stock kernel, runs just fine for me.

[Q] How to achieve high CPU clock speeds without freezing?!?

So I have had this phone for about a week and the ROMs/kernels I've had on it only go up to 1732mhz. I started looking for jb ROMs today and came upon this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831841) so using it for the first time I noticed I had tons of profiles and a clock speed up to 1944mhz. I attempted to go past my usual oc and I got to 1789mhz but after 1832mhz my phone freezes...why do these kernels or ROMs have high clocks that I or others can't get to without issues? It just makes no sense for something to be there that can't be used w/o issues. Anyway if anyone can please tell me how to get higher clocks or am I doing something wrong? Any help will be thanked.

It seems all newer kernels can't go higher than 1670 MHz. I tried it too, but had reboots. I'm on ICS ROM now and OCed to 1836 MHz and it works just fine with Cool kernel v5.4

I use Cool ICS v18 and kernel that comes with the ROM. I think you can use ICS without a problem on your H-boot. Make a backup of your ROM and try. If anything goes wrong, you can restore your previous ROM
