So I have had this phone for about a week and the ROMs/kernels I've had on it only go up to 1732mhz. I started looking for jb ROMs today and came upon this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831841) so using it for the first time I noticed I had tons of profiles and a clock speed up to 1944mhz. I attempted to go past my usual oc and I got to 1789mhz but after 1832mhz my phone freezes...why do these kernels or ROMs have high clocks that I or others can't get to without issues? It just makes no sense for something to be there that can't be used w/o issues. Anyway if anyone can please tell me how to get higher clocks or am I doing something wrong? Any help will be thanked.

It seems all newer kernels can't go higher than 1670 MHz. I tried it too, but had reboots. I'm on ICS ROM now and OCed to 1836 MHz and it works just fine with Cool kernel v5.4

Is it possible you can put a link for the rom/kernel your using? And will this Rom work with hboot jbear 1.50.5050? I'm on a gingerbread Rom atm (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551360) and I like it but it comes with the stock kernel and I can't find any kernels that work with gingerbread to oc and all that, maybe you can help me find one? Anyways thanks for replying.

I use Cool ICS v18 and kernel that comes with the ROM. I think you can use ICS without a problem on your H-boot. Make a backup of your ROM and try. If anything goes wrong, you can restore your previous ROM

I'm running the stock ROM rooted and all. After using cynogenmod for a bit I switched back to stock and I can no longer overclock past 1200. Can someone explain or help me out.

I think we cannot over clock (OC) with stock kernel. Try Entropy's kernel or Siyah. I am using CM and Siyah and I can OC. I didn't try with stock kernel however.
Thank you. I'll try it and get back

I was able to overclock to 1.452 stock rooted with Zedomax kernel using Tergrak Overclock from Android Market... give that a try
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
Kernel bro. You need a kernel with the abilities to overclock. Stock kernel can't.
Tegrak in the market. Buy the ultimate version for oc as high as ya want + core and internal voltage tweaks.
The free version lets you oc a little & no voltage adjustments.

This may sound a bit patronizing but if you cannot over clock due to the wrong kernel and not realize it, it may be best to do more research and make sure you understand what's going on before trying to over clock.

It does sound patronizing, but I can't blame you for trying to warn him/her. A lot of people have experience with computer OCing though, and may be new to Android.

I understand that people overclock their computers, but overclocking an android device is different since you cannot just boot into the bios, thus I encourage people to research before trying something they may be unfamiliar with. Otherwise someone will have to end up hoping their warranty/phone insurance or whatever will cover something going wrong due to overclocking.
you can only overclock with a kernel that is compatible with overclock
Do you really need to over clock? I haven't seen a reason to on this beast of a phone. Its not like the captivate was.

How does this thread keep getting bigger? Problem solved in 2nd post, finished in the 4th. Lock it down, Red5.
So I just flashed team venom's latest rom and I'm having problems loosing data. Hoping changing the kernel will fix it. Any ideas on a good kernel? Thanks!
There are no custom kernels for ICS. Try reflashing the rom or try a different rom

This is not entirely true. I'm using this kernel and haven't had any data issues that I can tell. I've changed my radio to only take LTE/CDMA only since I get 4g all the time, but havnt seen any drops.

Its the same kernel as stock just overclocked, which means worse batter life

Meh, battery life is for razor maxx users. I like performance. there's another kernel over in the mikmik forums (or maybe it was the BAMF forums now that I think about it) but it didn't work on ics sense 4, didn't try it on a sense 3.6 ics...although I'm sure it wouldn't make a difference. Theres nowhere that I've seen in the post where it says what its for. My guess is GB roms though.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Yeah probably GB. HTC hasn't released source for ics, so making custom kernels is really difficult and almost impossible to get stable so that's why there are no custom kernels for ics
Can someone please post their AnTuTu Benchmark score with the HTC DROID DNA? (Stock ROM, not overclocked)
The app was recently updated with new score metrics, but I don't have a DNA here any long to test.
Thanks.

Mine was something like 18,500 or around there.
Lol, and Droidforums mentions the DNA commonly scores between 13-14k.

Hahah that's what I scored when I multitasked everything I could on my DNA. I'm currently 100% stock and I never see anything lower then 18000 unless I really try.

Are you on a custom Rom or kernel? I'm still on stock but rooted and am not doing anything special (i.e. not killing any apps before running the benchmark). My score is typically between 19,500 - 20,500. 18,700 is fine though, maybe you have an app that is running on the background slowing things down a bit.

Nope, phone is stock not rooted either, probably gonna leave it that way too until I get bored and decide to take the jump and unlock my phone.
I have no issue with the scores I got, just was curious. This phone is still fast as hell.
21k consistently. Custom ROM, stock kernel.

Running everything stock and haven't hit anything below 20k.
Bottom line, right before I upgraded to ICS, I had the best battery life I ever had when I was stock Gingerbread. And it also didn't drain my battery when I was in an area with a bad signal.
My question is, is there a Rom out here that can give me those things ICS? Yes I know it can very depending on usage. Or what do you guys think about going back to an gingerbread stock rom? I know its up to me but give your pros and cons if possible.
Thanks.

no it works with hboot 1.5,1.4 or 1.04 you can try downgrading your hboot or sticking to the ICS versions of ROMs
So in Mackay kernel I'm thinking of adding higher over clock steps. But first I want to know how many people would want that? And how high. I'm thinking I can go up to 1.7ghz like in the gingerbread glitch kernel

I couldn't get anything stable above 1.6 and most vibrants can't even do that. But if you put it there it's the users option to push as high as they want.

Yeah. I'm just thinking about adding it for the people that want to and that can gin that high. Like I know I can get to 1.7 stable and I know some others can too
