First U need to Have installed ADB, And drivers Properly installed
Go to cmd
>>type adb
>>then type adb devices
>>then type adb shell
>>then the symbol changes to $
>>then type pm setInstallLocation 2
>>then exit
Done Now Now on your phone go to Settings->>Applications->>Manage Applications
Under the USB Storage Tab now u can move apps forcably
If u Want Set the location As before just type setInstallLocation 0

I presume you are trying to remove apps that are installed on the system partition. (ie. most of the standard HTC apps).
If so, you can do so from your PC, but follow these instructions in case you remove something you shouldn't (!)
1. Take a Nandroid Backup before starting
2. Connect phone to your PC and set up ADB from the SDK if not already done.
3. Run command

4. Type

adb shell
5. Type
Code:
su
6. Type
Code:
cd /system/app
7. Type
Code:
ls
8. Now have a look through the list for what you want to remove. Be aware that low-level things like the dialer are listed here, so be careful
9. When you find the app you want to uninstall, type the commands

exit
adb pull com.name.of.apk.file.apk C:\HTCHeroBackupApps
to copy the apk file to your PC in case you want to put it back
10. Then type

adb shell
cd /system/app
rm com.name.of.apk.file.apk
11. Application removed. Repeat for other apps you want rid of. Reboot phone when done.
(11.) If you need to restore an app in future for any reason, use the following command:

and reboot the phone.

Hi friends. I have bought a HCL me U1 tab : 7" display, 512 mb ram, running android 4.0.3 ICS on it. But it does not supports Google play on it and I am pretty upset. Tried to root it with z4root, gingerbreak but nothing works.. Please help.
yup, Im stuck with this tab too, its good tab though.
IT lacks gapps and has few bugs, I hope we get a way to root it soon, or a custom rom will be much better

Have you tried SuperOneClick and/or Unlock Root? Both tools are capable of rooting a vast number of devices, so it's worth a shot.

Where do I download the Superuser app from? Do I have to download it in my PC and then somehow install it into my U1? Or Do I download and install it directly into my U1??
I'm stuck at the superuser app part... And couldn't find yaffs explorer in the HCL ME market... There's no other Market in my tablet yet!

This guide is successfully tested by me.
1. You need a 32 bit OS. (I have used 7 Pro x86).
2. Turn USB debugging ‘ON’ in settings of the tablet.
3. Download Superuser hear
Then extract the zip file to desktop:\ & you will see 2 folders as
“System” and “Meta-INF”.
4. Download the drivers. Then connect the tablet & install the drivers
using device manager.
5. Download SuperOneClick!. Extract the archive, go to the folder
named ADB. Open an elevated command prompt download that first
6. CONTINUE WITH THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS.
>adb root (you will see a message “adb is already running as a root”)
>adb devices (you should see your device number)
>adb shell (adb shell will run and daemon tool will also run if this message is not see then close elevated command prompt and restart tablet and continue with following commands)
7. NOW RESTART THE TABLET AND WAIT TILL THE HOME SCREEN APPEARS.NOW
CONTINUE WITH FOLLOWING COMMANDS.
>adb shell getprop ro.secure (output should be 0)
>adb shell mount -oremount,rw /dev/block/system /system
>adb push c:\users/”username”/desktop/system/bin/su /system/bin/

I have these commands I run from cmd :

The thing is, that these do not survive a reboot, so I wanted to create a script that would run the shell commands on boot.
I created a file in init.d but I can't get a hold of the syntax to put these exact 3 commands.
Any help is appreciated.
I found I can use these ADB commands to turn on and of the WiFi of a rooted phone:

This opens the screen where you can turn on and off the WiFi but it doesn't do it...not sure if I'm missing something!

You could use adb wifi
After activating when using usb it and connecting through the same wifi:
svc wifi enable
works without root
I'm a little late to this thread, but if it still helps the OP, non-rooted Android 10 and below allowed wireless adb connections AFTER a USB connection was first established (adb start-server && adb tcpip 5555 && adb connect [IP]:5555), but that changed (for the better) in Android 11 and above with the new new Developer options Wireless debugging random port assignments (adb connect [IP]:[PORT] or adb pair [IP]:[PORT] [PIN]) such that the adb wireless connection never needs USB cable ever again.
Given Android 11 allows Developer options Wireless debugging via a random port, and Android 12 new Developer options Wireless debugging allows that to be accessed even easier with a new Developer options Wireless debugging tile, the only thing missing is a way to turn the non-rooted Android Wi-Fi on or off via adb (which was the OP's original question after all).
Maybe this will work if we can figure out how to tap the buttons?

For swiping on the phone from adb this works...
C:\> adb shell input swipe 500 1000 500 100
This will instantly swipe from center to the top of the screen.
You can add a time period, e.g., take 3 seconds to swipe that.

That should pop up an Android "Reset Advertising ID" settings page.

If run after the command above, that will tap the button to
asking to "Opt out of Ads Personalization" in that Activity
if that button is like mine, at the X=500 & Y=400 location.
On my phone, this is the "Reset advertising ID" button location:

On my phone, this is the "OK" button on that GUI above.

Some apps do not uninstall such as market and gamecenter, disabling is the only option.
