How to break the 200MB memory reserve? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

HI can I get an hint about removing or cracking the low memory notifications and inhibit installing new apps whenever I drop under ~200MB of free phone's memory? I believe this must be breakable.. But how? Please don't suggest moving apps to SDcard as Xperia P has very limited storage for SDcard. Any working solution would be highly appreciated!

Of course you can but before that your phone must be rooted and after that these is two ways to go :
1st : install app2sd its a app but before tht you gonna need CWM tocbe flashed in your phone for backups
2: install s2e(app) to move all app to sd and leave the 200Mb free ,but you gonna need CWM too and for CWM you need to root your phone so look for root then CWM then install s2e or app2sd i will give you a link to a v8deo later if you want
Hit thanks if i was usefull to you

Thanks but as I already wrote that's what I can't do coz I'm out of space on SDcard too ((, so a solution to break the low space alerts or lower significantly the low memory level would be much more negotiable.

From what i know you cant add space but you could trick the phone by creating a ext partition to work like space but that from the sd card so you should buy a new sd card someone else i dont know sorry

That's not possible I don't have SDcard slot ( please a workaround how to cheat the phone it must think there's more memory that actually is so it continues working properly even if I go under 200MB.

Sorry that impossible you cant do that

[Q] How do I use a swap partition?

Sorry if I sound very dumb, but how do I use a swap partition?.. I know its like a "ram extension", please correct me if Im wrong. Could you also give opinions to what size should I put as a swap partition? Im planning to buy a 8gb class 10 microsdcard. Thank you.

Swap is Hard Disk space being used as RAM . When the system is low on memory , the applications that are inactive will get swapped to the Hard Disk . This allows more RAM to be freed for other applications and for a smooth experience .
Applications also have the ability to get swapped back and forth , so multitasking is not a problem

A swop partition is for computers that do not have enough ram. As far as I known Android (linux) OS is very good in dealing with memory. I have not seen anything on XDA developers forum in relation to this question. Android does not need a swop-disk or partition.

40mb swap is enough. swap is a backup plan: don't treat it like your actual ram.

Thanks! May I ask some other questions, without going too much OT?
In apps2sdGUI there are several low memory settings, but how do they work? There's no explanation of what they do...
In the end, always on apps2sdGUI should I change the dalvik VM heapsize standard value? Is there any benefit from doing it?
Thank you!

You can do it from pc using minitool partition wizard!
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
you also can try with CWM Recovery 4.0.0.9 if u using CF-root..
Reboot into recovery > choose advanced > partition SD card > then pick ur sd-ext and swap size..
for me, swap work best at the minimum 32M, larger than that would be problem later
i tried partitioning.. i have 1g sd-ext and 32m swap.. i chech a2sd repair it said sd-ext not mounted. i tried mounting it manually in cwm but still it doesnt mount. then i tried a2sd install, but when i checked titanium backusd,, my system rom and sd(a2sd) is identical.. what have i done wrong?..
Dunno.. maybe you should try reflashing!

maybe. or ill just do a nandroid restore. my system rom 42mb free become 12mb after a2sd.. lol

Phone memory is faster....but smaller
SD had more space but slower....
Make your choose?
I reccomend most important apps leave phone memory and less important apps you can move sd card.
Cheers

Installing large files

I hv a 64 gb class 6 sd card which has been working fine. However sometimes when I try to install a large file, it won't install it right away. It takes several attempts to get it to install. Why is this happening? I seem to remember someone saying before that titanium back up may be causing it. Can someone please elaborate or could someone please put me on the right path. Thanks

(app) 1.4 gb memori swap

Hi all
This apps is used our sd card to create swap memory
i've been trying and i think its work on my ray..
Just look at the screenshot..
the first line used by the phone memory = 400 mb
the second line i swap it with memory from sd card : 1480 mb
Just try it
Install as normal apk... place it on phone memory
open the app and click optimal value
Just wait till finish and reboot ur phone
Use ur widget to swap between memory internal and memory from sd card
I try it on my ray
stock rom
ics .587
supercharger v6
Aeon smallapps
16 gb class 10
Here is the link

Yes it does but IMO, swapping to sdcard is not very useful because it is the slowest memory in our device and swappin to it is not very efficient and I forgot to mention that sdcards normally have a high rate of data corruption and failures and swapping to it will only increase the risk of corrupting the card. Instead you can use swap to cache or zram, it would be more efficient and useful. Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to spoil this thread or something (I hope I'm not spoiling it) just wanted to explain something useful :beer:

Android ram expansion to SD?

Does anybody know if this is posible with android? Similar to have windows has turboboost. Like one would get a very fast read/write sd card to add more ram to there phone. I know many phones the internal storage is pretty slow so a high speed microsd would be alot faster than full ram trying to read and write to storage which we have all seen drag extremely.
Im content with the speed of my phone but its always out of ram :\

I don't even mind if it uses the whole SD card. I'd love to find like a 4gb crazy fast card. I don't know exactly what ram swap means. Unless it puts suspended program ram on sd
