Micro SD card problems formatting - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hello ,
I guess i ****ed up my microSD card .
I had one 16 Gb A-data microSD card and for whatever reason , i try to format for APP2SD , that special partition, ext 3 or whatever .
But... not just i was not able to make it work , but when i tried to make it the way it was before ... it was stucked or seems to be a ireversible process.
I tried different methods but not one seems to work . I got to make a mention that the card was working just fine before i had that stupid idea.
No matter what , now windowx is showing to have only 1gb capacity, but... when i tried to format that 1 gb , everytime it fails.
flashnull , HPUSBDisk, SDFormatter, MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition, linux Gparted , every single tool i was thinking of was useless.
You guys are my last hope .
Thanks in advance for your help ...

Actually, the more you format it, the more harm you make, because sd cards are very sensitive when it comes to formatting them. I've successfully killed my 4gb microsd that way

so , i understand that is NO solution to this problem ?!

Well, as far as I know, no, but I might be wrong as well

Possible and Simple SD problem Fix for WP7 builds

So i tried to install Mango builds on my HD2 after a long ago. Missed WP7!
I installed 3 different Mango builds but all of them said that my SD card is damaged and can not continue.[Kingston 16gb class 4]
Not even some Android builds worked..stuck at boot. [Never had any problem before]
A Format didn't work either with SDFormatter nor Partition programs e.t.c. And i do not have a Nokia phone to unlock the card or something.
The thing is that my card was formatted with 32 clusters, so i went and deleted the whole partition from partition magic and reformatted the card with SDFormatter, automatically it went to 32 clusters again. I went to windows format and selected the default settings on the card [cluster 8000b something] and now everything is working and i can enjoy Mango builds on my phone! WTH?
I also checked some other cards [verbatim, sandisk class 2 and 4] and formatted them the same way and again they are working properly.
I hope his simple fix will help others also and hope i am not mistaken!
Crazy huh?
Sounds interesting, i'll try it with my sandisk 8gb class4, when i'll be back at home. It was behaving like a corrupted after reboot in WP7, even i have tried different roms.

unlock card first with unlock cab + yuki ROM or with old Nokia phone
yeah i noticed this on some marginal cards of mine, didnt effect the speed rating at all but there was some improvment in stability, i wouldnt say its perfect tho, there still some reboots/
top tip, DO NOT move the clusters size to 4K!
well an trully buggered one card up by mistake doing that!
Cluster size doesnt seem to matter. My kingston 32gb class 4 card still isn't recognised (never has been actually). Works fine on android and windows 7
But how can i use my SD cards that never worked with Mango builds? lol

I'm not going to say IMPOSSIBLE! , but it does not make sense.
The first thing you do while installing WP7, is clear the MBR. If the MBR is gone, so are all partitions and their defined cluster size.
There's something else to it...

I totally agree! I had card issues when moving from the HD2 Yuki ROM to others in this forum, and three different cards weren't recognised.
It wasn't that the cards were faulty or damaged at all. I managed to reformat them on my pc after installing the Yuki ROM and using the lock cab to unlock them.

thats a good point, even if you dont clear the MBR manually in MAGLDR the installer does wipe all partitions, which would clear the partition tables and associated cluster size

Still... formating with a X cluster size, might create a 1/0 pattern either at the card begging in case of a quick format, or through the whole card in case of a full format, that WP7 prefers.
I've never had this issue, so i cannot comment.

[Q] [SDCARD] Compacity Problem! HELP FAST#

Hi XDA Members and staff!
Today i have bought a brand new Samsung 32GB Class 10 + High speed MicroSD Card. I just placed a new rom on the SD CARD and flashed it on to my HTC HD2 as i got to the Home screen i didn't see the Preparing SD card notification so i connected my phone to my computer and guess what it didn't show up... Then i took my old LG phone and it worked. I went to format it and then again guess what; it was 31.6MB Free of 31.6MB! Where did my memory go? OK i right clicked F: selected "format" tried making it FAT32 but is not there... So i done it on FAT; still no luck... I then tried SDFormatter no luck; it wasn't even capable of Fully erasing it because it wasn't compatible with the LG phone.... OMFN! I am so unlucky! God hates me!
Can Somebody help me out?
God does not hate you that's impossible. God loves you. What kind of SD is this ??? Also try this

If it doesn't work send Me a pm and after I get home from church I'll check to see if your issue still remains. God Bless

My suggestion is that you try to erase all data from the SD card, even partition data. I don't use Windows a lot these days, so I can't point you to a useful utility, but it's very simple in Linux-based systems if you use GParted. If you don't have GParted or even Linux then download GParted Live from gparted.sourceforge.net , it's a bootable cd/usb-image you can run without installing anything on your computer.
Then in GParted, remove all partitions, create a new FAT32 partition and format it.
I've fixed some corrupt SD-cards this way myself. I've also seen some wierdly factory formatted SD-cards during the years.

SDcard damaged, tried everything , still no good, help please

don't know why...
after flash AOKP 4.1 mileston , system reports SDCARD DAMAGED...
when i try to format it in phone , it likes take forever to complete it , just stuck there.
i put it into card read and to my PC, Windows 7, reports error and needs to format it , fine , i formated it , 2 twice , tried both exFAT and NTFS, after that, computer can access SDcard, but then i inserted it back into my phone and boot it , still says something.
although something time it doesn't report error but just like SDcard isn't inserted ...
i also tried the one way i googled out that use command "chkdsk X: /f" but still same thing ...
any idea will be thankful.
it seems exFAT isn't supported by any 3rd part ROM beside Samsung's , am i correct ?
then is there any way to use my 64GB SDcard on AOKP ?
ok... here is now situation
i formatted it into FAT32, but if i inserted the SDCard, the phone will be in the boot loop , AOKP mileston 1 JB... if i uninsert it , it will boot up in few seconds...
any idea ?
can't find any way to make it work...
even tried Siyah kernel ... still boot loop
alternative, will AOKP works with 32GB or 16GB ?

Yes it will work with aokp. If you gonna buy new memory card go for Samsung 32gb class 10. There are some fake once at eBay.

micro SDHC card problem

i know this has been posted alot of times, but take your time to read my post too please. so i have this 8gb verbatim micro sdhc, class 4 my phone is a p500(rooted,cm,cwm).a month ago the card stopped being read by my phone all of a sudden. at that time the pc wouldnt read it either, but i managed to make it readable with a low level format tool. the thing is the phone doesnt read it, it reads my other 2gb card and my friend's 8 and 16gb. i have tried many things to make this work, sdformater tool, custom recovery images, the thing is the sd card isnt read even in recovery. i dont know what to do anymore... thanks in advance , and i hope this is the apropriate section of the forum to post in
bump
That's very strange. Maybe your card has just gone dead. Download Minitool Partition Wizard and try to format the card using that.

did a surface test, no error blocks, did a format, phone still says "sd card removed. insert a new one", going to try a wipe with the 7 passes setting now, going to tell you soon what happens
it didnt work... it doesnt read it in recovery even. when i try to format sd-ext it says something like E:format_volume: make_extf4s failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 ,also i tried every format possible when reformating it with minitool

[Q] Only acces on sd-card thru usb-mass storage

Hi there,
I have a HTC wildfire [buzz] -s off, I rooted it, got cm7 on it. Now the problem is, the SD-card worked perfectly, and after a while the phone doesn't recognize my SD-card anymore. At some point it eats 4g away from my partitionated 8g SD. Then suddenly i have no SD at all anymore atleast on software cm7 running, however when I boot into recoverymode i can only have acces to that sd card while in usb mass storage device thru my pc. But can't install any apps since I was gonna install 'gapps' when i noticed SD was not recognized by cm7.... I formated mulitple times using sd-format and minitool partion a few times with different partitions one fat-32 other ext2. now 4g formatted just fat 32.
Can anybody give me a work around? I'm fairly new to rooting. So keep it a bit simple if possible.
Thanks and kind regards.
