thank you for replying ... but when i asked that question i was on locked bootloader and you said that it gonna works on it then ... and failed to install it because there is no CWM for locked bootloader ... but after done unlock tried scritch cm10 first i liked it a lot and wanted to try other JB roms like your spike labs JB but my x10 is my daily phone ... and i use video recording and wifi tethering a lot .. so that back to GB 2.3

Xperia Neo CMW

Hi dears!
I would like to know if I can install and Custom rom or a kernel to overlock my Xperia Neo, with CMW and locked bootloader.
Thanks for your time guys
Kind Regards,
Ghafit
you can install a custom rom(rom should be converted to recovery image file) , but kernel cannot be installed on locked bootloader...
so, with stock kernel for example, can I install CM7, do you recommend that to me?
Nope, don't try that... you need a custom kernel for CM7 or MIUI roms.
and there aren't anymore nice custom roms with stock kernel?

do you recommend me to install that ROM?
yes you can try that but , users with locked bootloader when installed this rom face SU binary problems & wifi not working....(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1281489&page=36)
NOTE : it is not the problem of rom , works perfectly on unlocked BL

That's lame.
I remember that I could use CM7 ROMs in my old Xperia X8 with stock kernel. It was a stupid move trying to unlock the bootloader to change kernel, I just bricked my phone.
I have tried, but it has some problems (automatic light sensor doesn't work for me) and wifi drops signal sometimes. Stay @ fxp 9.0 :cyclops:

Yes, I did when I had my Xperia X8 alive. Check their section, they have a lot of ROMs based in CM7 Android 2.3.7 that work in stock kernel. The only neccesary things are root and CMW.
As I said, my big error was trying to unlock the bootloader just to use a ROM that needed a custom kernel, I don't know why I did it when other ROMs always worked fine, like GingerDX... I bricked my X8 forever, that's why I bought my Ray and I won't mess with the bootloader again.
I guess is due the different kernel architectures, or it's because SONY allowed to unlock bootloaders on the Xperia 2011 line, but it's very disappointing that most of the ROMs for Xperia Ray need unlocked bootloaders and customized kernels. That's why Hybrid 3.2, Superleggera and MIUI for locked bootloaders are a bless for us. @JJ Doctor, @arcatarc and @OatnezrA are true heroes :good:

Dont know mate, I got ray and neo v on my table ready to get out of sony stock and for some reason i just cant install it on them.
May be i will never by an another sony phone again
In last 12hrs i tried almost everything, flashed FXP129 CM9 no luck, tried to flash official cm9 rc1 same thing no damn luck.
this ray is booloader unlocked via s1tool, rooted and has cwm recovery but i still cant flash any rom on it. It's frustrating :silly:
dont use FXP129 kernel its a bad kernel . and when you flash rom did you flash the kernel ? because CM9 RC1 kernel is also a bad kernel . the best working kernel is FXP 128 and the FXP128 rom .

Have you unlocked your bootloader? I suspect not. This is what flashtools is referencing.
Custom roms and mods that work on stock kernels can be installed on rooted devices.
Some mods/roms make such significant changes to Sony's builds that a new kernel is required (MIUI, CM, AOKP). To install a custom kernel you need to unlock your bootloader.
You may read the instructions provided by the author of the rom., to flash kernels, you need to unlock your bootloader. Seek and you'll see.
Is that right? lol

Now you’ve flashed one ROM on the Ray I can’t see you stopping
It doesn’t matter what WE recommend because your experience of which is the best ROM may be different to ours.
Try them all – I usually change mine once a month. But in my humble opinion, the most cutting edge, fully featured, experimental yet suitable for daily use ROM is PAC. My little Ray runs smoother than my wife’s Galaxy S2 and has so much more swagger – to borrow from AOKP.
so you recommend PAC rom ? actullay i want to stay with my stock based smooth (ASOP) ROM. if you know something then pls recommend me

it says "Unlock bootloder allowed:yes "
AW: [Q] Unlocking BootLoder Failed Xperia neo
Than you are allowed to unlock your boot loader. This doesn't mean that it is already unlocked.
I unlocked my boot loader via test point and rooting status still says unlocked allowed.
Best way to test is flashing a custom kernel.
Choose a kernel compatible to your current android version. ICS kernel for ICS android and GB kernel for GB android.
Take a look at the stickys. You will find a description how to flash a kernel and which kernel is for which android version.
Good luck.

Thank u very much. I am now on 4.0.2.A.0.62 rm and I am going to old 4.0.2.....42 to unlock bootloder and root. Will it done the trick for me?
is karnel included in rom (.ftf)?
I am new here. So please excuse my false and poor english
Whatever motorazr said is absolutely correct.. just flash a custom kernel and if it gets flashed that means your bootloader is unlocked.. If it dosnt then unlock your bootloader officially.. Its given on sony's side about unlocking.. Check it..
And if you are flashing .ftf file it will change your firmware totally.. Custom kernel is different.. Stock. Ftf files are different.. Go to sticky thread in neo v development section, for tutorial about flashing kernel..
Hope this meets your need..

If you really flashed night elf kernel than your boot loader is unlocked!
What program did you use, flash tool?
Give us a log cat from kernel flash that we can take a look. Or make a screenshot from your phone settings showing android version and kernel version.
Look at my screeny.
No need to root your phone with doomlords method. Almost every custom kernel comes prerooted and has build in cwm. Just flashing a custom kernel and you have got superuser access and cwm.
You can try cm10 with your unlocked bootloader. Just flash a compatible kernel and install rom via cwm.

I think your Bootloader is not unlocked...
Please unlock it first...either with official or unofficial way...

Yes your boot loader is unlocked!
Did you do it yourself?
Anyway your phone is free! You can try anything you want!
For cm10, download latest nightly for your phone. Haida for neo v and hallon for neo. The download contains a jb kernel for your phone. Flash it. After that enter cwm and install the rom. Last step is flashing Google apps for jb via cwm. After all that you are done and can enjoy android 4.1.2.

Just to clear something out I tell you my personal story.
I had a live with walkman which I unlocked official. The rooting status in service menu changed from boot loader unlock allowed: yes to boot loader unlocked.
Actually I have got a neo v. I unlocked the boot loader via test point. Guess what happened? Rooting status in service menu still says boot loader unlock allowed: yes.
At the moment I haven't got a stock rom installed so I can't take a screen. I have posted some earlier, I will search for it and post it here again.
I don't know if it is possible to edited a kernels name easily. The screen he provided shows that his current kernel is named night elf.
Stock kernels are named different, I don't remember correct but wasn't it something like performance?
Best way to prove us is to provide a flash tool log cat showing a successfully kernel flash.
Again I ask the op: have you unlocked your phone yourself and which method did you use?
Or have you bought the phone second hand and somebody had unlocked it already?
send from neo v with cm10 nightly on fusion kernel
Well you've a point there mate
I think in that case,he unlocked unofficially ie by Testpoint method!
I thought he used official method

[Q] [HELP] CWM Status 7 Error!

So i know that there are a lot of posts on XDA itself about this issue but i couldn't find a single one that i saw useful for me!
I recently had re-locked my bootloader and came back on stock ICS with root!
Earlier i had flashed almost all CM ROMs including the newest CM 10.1.
Today i unlocked the bootloader and tried to flash FXP CM10 and got this error! Tried with boot.img included with the zip, as well as Lupus v7. Both gave me same errors!
Please help me guys!
Sincerely,

I advise you not re-lock & unlock you bootloader many times(maybe cause you have that problem), once unlocked let it stay unlocked. BTW try to flash a stock kernel & rom & then again a cm or cm based kernel & rom. Good luck.

Did that 3 times! Also this is the second time i unlocked my BL. I guess that's not the problem as i just flashed CM10.1 and it's working without a problem!
extract boot file of your rom and flash it with fastboot
Just open the Updater Script inside your ROM zip and then delete the first three lines something with getprop blablabla , always working for me
