I'm currently using this launcher and it fits great on the kindle fire HD. I had came from Apex to this and it felt really smooth. So I highly recommend installing this, in order to install you put it into the /system/app folder and reboot. (Or use the kindle free app)

Greetings!
Wondering if anyone knows of any sources for the stock Google apps for Honeycomb 3.2.
I installed HC (per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758 -- and am also going to try this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393904 )
I've been looking forward to HC, and am glad I finally bit the bullet, rooted, and installed it. But I'm still left wanting the stock, un-Sense'd experience.
The gmail app from HTC seems largely untouched. Unfortunately, that's not the case for calendar & contacts. Anyone know where I can get those apk's? (And if it's as simple as getting a hold of those and/or flashing them from CWM?)
I looked around on Google, but didn't find a good candidate to use (admittedly, I'm new to this, and am not sure what should work and what to avoid.)
Thanks, folks!
Jeff
Find a device that runs a asop or or close asop version of honeycomb and dl a Rom and pull the apk. Worth a shot

Attached are the Google Calendar (incl. widget), Google Desk Clock (incl. widget) and Gallery apk. I copied them from this ROM, but got them working on a HC Sense ROM now.
push to /system/app and reboot.
Unfortunately I don't have the Google Contacts apk
I can't seem to install it?

If you're talking about those 3 apks, you have to put them in /system/app

Did you do a reboot? I used adb push command, you might want to try that...

You can type "adb remount" instead of using a file explorer. I find that more convenient lol

Does your system/app contain the CalendarProvider.apk? It should be there in order to let the CalendarGoogle.apk work. Otherwise install aLogcat to find any exceptions...
OK, finally got the calendar working just by using Root Explorer. The trick was to put the calendar apk in the system folder and change the permissions there before moving it to the app folder. Works like a charm.
The Calendar sizing is a bit off, but I can live with it since I mainly wanted it for the widget.
HJ200 - Thanks for the Contacts.apk
Sorry I'm just now getting back to you. I knew I wanted to flash another ROM, and was waiting till I did to try this. Anyway, today I flashed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421074
And then tried the Contacts.apk. I am not familiar with adb, so tried with Root Explorer. With Root Explorer in R/W mode, I put the apk in System, changed the permissions to rw-r-r, moved it to the app folder, and rebooted. The apk is definitely there, but it is not found in the app drawer. Suggestions? (Also, I am not familiar with adb, so was trying to do it without that...)
Thanks!
Jeff
Anybody able to walk me through how to get the Contacts app working w/o using ADB?
My post above lists what I've tried. I've looked around and have not found helpful suggestions.
Thanks!
Jeff
You wont be able to get the contacts apk to work because it relies on the stock HC framework :/

There has been some troubleshooting for drivers issues go to my FAQ tips and tricks which is stickied and scroll down to Drivers Issues. Most likely if you have installed drivers of other android devices will cause trouble, second do not install sdk use the adb drivers provided with any of the root methods.

I was able to root the nt but i had to go into the reg on my pc and clean it out before it let me. I generally wouldn't recomend it unless you're comfortible working in the windows registry.

The nook app does not work with the rooted NT
is there a workaround?
for now, i use the kindle app.
What root method did you use?
If you did a full root using snowball then it'll remove everything

If you start over and root with Indirect's method, you can keep the reader and libraray apps. Or you could convert your files and use the kindle app.
indirect
the indirect method
(nook and zergy thing)
I use Aldiko (the free version) on my daughters NC and my NT and have been very happy w/ it.

You could try using titanium backup to uninstall the stock nook reader (make sure to make a backup) and then try to install the nook app.
Which option did you select when you got to the experience step? I think it's a step with 4 options, remove everything nook related, remove just a little, remove something and some other one.
I don't have the batch file in front of me so my responses are a little vague

it is like the kindle app.
only barnes and noble released one for all other android devices
Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21290897 which has info on how to get the nook app working.

I need someone with an Android phone to use Titanium Backup and back up Appredeem. I have a kindle fire but that app isnt supported. I have been told if I get the 3 backup files for the app then I can restore it with the data and it will work. I dont have an Android phone so I can't do it myself. If someone is willing to do the backup and send me the files just post here or pm me and I will give you my email. The app is free so this isn't piracy!

I appreciate it, but that doesn't fix the issue. I can install the app from the market, it just doesn't work when I open it on my Kindle Fire running CM7. I need someone to install i ton their phone then back up the app/data. Then when I restore it on my Kindle Fire with the app and data it will think that my Kindle Fire is an Android phone and allow me to open it.
could someone upload the Kindle reading apk from a Kindle Fire?
the one available from Google Play is way worse than the one from Kindle Fire.
tnx.

first, thanks a lot!
then, what did you mean with "its a system app"?
[Edit]
Doesn't work.
If I tap on the apk, it warns me that it will replace the installed one, I choose "OK", than the installation starts but after a while fails with just a "application not installed", no other error message.
or you can uninstall the upgrade form the playstore app on my apps

The version you want is designed to work ONLY on the kindle fire itself; it won't operate on other devices.
I suggest "moon reader", it's actually better imo

Trust me, you're better off. Kindle is the "best known about" reading app, but it actually lacks a lot that others have to offer. Try checking out a few different ones, they've come a long way to compete

Why is it 'bad' to use the Google Play one?
Ok, it has less features and all, but apart from that its working just fine here.
Is there a way to get the 'stock' apk??
Thanks

You could do one out of three things
A.uninstall the google play update in settings(easiest )
B.reinstall the o.s.(okay)
C. Extract the apk out of a downloaded rom(harder)

Speaking of the Kindle App...
So I rooted my wife's KFHD. I installed Nova Launcher, everything works like she wants except the actual "Kindle app that shows up in the app drawer after a home launcher is installed. When tapped to open it, it does nothing. The only way I can get around that is to tap the Kindle "Home" icon which takes you back to Amazon's hideous Launcher, then tap on "Books" to access available books and the Store. Does anyone know if it is possible to get the Kindle app to act normal? I thought I had solved this problem when I installed the Google version of the Kindle app over it and it worked, but I remembered it's not the best idea to do this and if I remember correctly, it only works until the next time the KFHD is rebooted. After the reboot the Kindle app in the Nova Launcher app drawer becomes useless..Any help would be appreciated.
