[Q] JB vs GB in releation to notifications - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Escalation of thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2185953
Is there a way to change JB new behavior when clicking notifications (like from GTalk, GMail) to GB way?
In GB when i clicked on new mail and exited back, i was at my previous app, like browser.
But now i end up on home screen, and have to use Recent apps to go back to browser.
e.g i have to waste 3-8 seconds (press and hold home button and then wait for previews to popup and then click on app) to go back to what i was doing.

Hmm, i have no such issue with ongoing notifications... Maybe this is a clue?

How do you switch to previously Open programs!

This is really annoying when am in the middle of a movie and i pause and press the home screen or do some other stuf on the phone but when i go back to the album to continue I ll have to start al over again.
Isnt there something like a taskbar where programs not terminated are minimized until they are reopened or terminated.?
Please advise
Cheers
The only Taskmanager like app is press and hold the Home key, you will get up a list of the previous 6 running programs. Whether or not they will put you back in the same place as you were before is dependant on Android.
the only thing i know of, is to hold the home button, and the 6 most recent apps pop up, and you just click on the app you want and it goes right to how it was b4 you were interrupted.
use meridian evolve from the market, it automatically resumes video.
i know its not exactly what your asking for but it is a solution.
Meridian work great. There is also an app called motion launcher which allow you to quickly switch among previous running apps by shaking the phone twice. It's on the market as well

[Q] Adding widgets "menu"

Hey peeps, I was watching this video " http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxziEamCkIY " and noticed when the guy added the battery widget he just pressed and held the screen, then a menu popped up.
My issue is whe I press and hold my screen I get the Wallpaper menu, see this link " http://www.box.com/s/d6bae3441e6640b1dbff " . Why is mine different? :-(
My Prime is 100% stock, not rooted, and running the ICS from Asus updates with .21 firmware.

Looks like he is using a different launcher application than the stock version that comes with ICS.
In Android 4.x the only way to add a widget or app shortcut is through the Widgets/Apps Menu.
In older versions of Android you could hold the screen and it would bring up a prompt to choose what actions you wanted (add widget, add app, change wallpaper etc) however Google has done away with that in favor of a more robust Widget gallery that lets you see the different styles of widgets that a widget pack comes loaded with, instead of just seeing descriptions of them in a list. It is possible some custom launchers and ROMs include this outmoded functionality.
You can tell from the video that the person who made it is not using a stock ROM, since it lacks the Google Search widget on the top left, the App Menu button on the top right and also the "Trashcan" appears as a black bar on the left of the screen instead of as a text link at the top of the screen.

BULP7 update - have they ruined the standard browser?

Updated my Vodafone firmware about a week ago, now running the BULP7 4.0.3 firmware.
In the previous version of the standard browser, when scrolling down large web pages, you could reveal the task bar at any point by changing to scrolling up. Now you need to scroll all the way back up before the task bar can be revealed. I used to use this lots when wanting to select another bookmark, without having to scroll all the way to the top of the web page. There's a new sidebar that can be switched on at any point when browsing, but it doesn't let you access the bookmark icon.
Anyone have any advice? I've tried most browsers, but settled on the standard one when they implemented the task bar enabling in the last version, would prefer to stick with the standard browser - maybe I'll see if I can hunt down the previous apk.

By "task bar", are you referring to the address bar? It also shows when you press the menu button, doesn't it?
And I don't think my standard browser ever did this. (show the address bar when switching scrolling from down to up) Though, the newer versions of Dolphin Browser did.

I guess it is the address bar, and the previous version of the standard browser certainly made the bar visible when changing from scrolling down to scrolling up, regardless of whether you were at the top or bottom of a webpage. This was the only thing that meant stayed with the standard browser. But with the new version of the browser, you need to scroll all the way back up for it to be visible.

Ah, things are different on the ICS browser from the GB browser. Sorry. I'm unable to answer this question.
Aha, you mentioned the menu button made it visible. I've now discovered if I hold down the menu button it eventually makes the address bar visible. If I just select the menu button I get the menu list for browser settings.
Maybe not a complete fix, but I'll see how I get on with this.
Another tip for you is to hold the back button to get direct access to your bookmarks. Hope that helps out a little.
go into the settings menu then to lab and enable fullscreen and the other option then you can get a action to show address bar from touching the edge of the screen.

Chrome not visible in recent opened apps?

I have had my xtz for 3 days and love it, just trying to get to the bottom of a minor issue.
With chrome open if I press the recent apps button chrome will minimise and appear, however if I press the home button then click the recent apps button chrome is not visible, I have to re open the app to get back to it.
Just wondering if there is a simple fix for this? I'm using 4.2.2 .136
I'm guessing the simple solution may be to switch browsers? On my Xperia t I actually use the stock browser and love it, but this first seen available for the tablet z?
Thanks

[Q] Start on home screen?

is there a way to have my phone go to the home screen (the one with weather clock, apps, and google search bar) when i press the home button from another panel, as opposed to it going to the screen with the social network, news, etc updates screen? it's kind of annoying that when i press the home button to use one of my app shortcuts it flips to a screen that i intentionally didn't set up because i have no intention of using it. can i get rid of that panel all together? i'm running stock rom unlocked and in the process of updating to kitkat (YAY!!!)

you have always been able to set any screen as the home screen
and sense 5.5 allows you to disable blinkfeed

IF you remove blinkfeed it will allow you to have that particular page as your "home screen", but if you tap once it should automatically go back to the far left screen beside blink feed.
