i make my work calls from my car with a wired headset. when hanging up, my ears are assaulted with a beep that has to exceed 747 takeoff decibel levels.
wtf? any way to get rid of this?
stock atrix 4g, running 2.3.6 android.
please...i want to hear when i'm 60!
Try an app to set the tone. I'm not sure how well it will work but I'm sure you're willing to try. It seems these are to create a tone but maybe you could set to disable it.

So i use ribgdroid to cut my mp3s to use them as a ribg tone. Only problem is, when someone calls me it rings really quiet for 1 second then goes to a normal volume. Am i doing something erong? I am saving them as ring tones, i dobt see the problem. Regular vibrant tmobile ringtones work jusr fine
Have you tried playing the MP3 on a different device?

That is a standard samsung thing. It happens on all(most?) samsung phones. I believe there was a thread for a "fix" for it in either the vibrant or i9000 area... i dont remember but it makes it so it has the one volume level when the phone rings.
It's a feature. A very annoying feature.
Hi guys, can you check this out?
When I run skype on my 2.3.5 I3 firmware, it completely mutes all sounds other then skype, like ringtone, alarms, notifications etc. This is also valid, when you exit Skype!
In practice it means, that when I ran skype yesterday evening and turned it off before going to sleep, my alarm did not wake me up to work... I mean it did, but I could hardly hear it...
I hear no sms messages notifications, no phone call tones - nothing.
What I have to do is reboot the phone or kill all background processes and turn the volume down and up - then it resets itself to the proper previous values.
Thanks.
Hmm. I've noticed something similar where after using either music player or scanner radio it looses all notifications. I had also thought it was something to do with the headphones cause they make my phone unresponsive sometimes and I need to unplugged and replug to get sounds. Do the notifications come through the headphones after the Skype thing? Do you use headphones with Skype?
I had concluded myself its something to do with the headphones being faulty until I tried a few different pairs with the same result so its back to the drawing board huh. I'm about to root and flash something new to see if the problem follows too. Will help narrow it down a fair bit or atleast send me in the correct direction.

No, it has nothing to do with headphones.
Headphones don't work with skype or any other multimedia app anyway, I mean the speakers do, however microphone does not work on the headphones (bluetooth ones as well as the ones on cable).
You just run skype and then you notice, that all sound is muted, that is it
Weird. I'm a little unimpressed with my 9100. Its buggy as hell, crap battery and is the redhead step child of the S2 series... meh. I'm back on my galaxy tab and I gave away the 9100t . T is for Terrible trash IMO so i even made sure it didn't go to anyone I actually liked... Epic Fail Samsung. Worse than stock Galaxy tab.....

Anyone able to create a profile to solve the issue we have with our note. The issue is the following,
If headphones are plugged in and we get an incoming call, the ringtone will play on both speaker and headphones.
If headphones are plugged in and we get a notification, the sound will only play through speaker.
I tried to do a basic script that has headphones plugged in and incoming call for context, then set ringer volume to 0 and play music ringtone.mp3. Add exit task to for the opposite, raise ringer volume, stop music.
The problem is, it worked, if I didn't have music playing already when I get an incoming call, which is the whole reason why I would have headphones plugged in to begin with. The task successfully sets the ringer volume to 0 so at least it didn't play on the speaker, but then nothing would play on the headphones, and the music I was playing would pause (like it's supposed to), but the ringtone I specified didn't play. Ending the call resumes the music I was playing.
Anyone willing to shed some insight on this?
This issue is next on my list. I believe it is an issue with how the phone distinguishes what the sound is. ..phone vs media...hard to explain

just tested, did not work, or maybe i did something wrong.
anyone willing to give the script a try and see if it works, or I just did something wrong.
I'll try tonight
I use my phone to connect to my cars bluetooth. I've had since the phone since July and it sounded really good up until about three days ago. For some reason the audio lowered and doesn't sound as crisp as it used to. I know it is not the car stereo because my other devices still play perfectly. I have to turn my radio up to the point where the music will sound distorted.
Example = s4 on bluetooth turned to 25 - sounds great
s4 on bluetooth now turned to 25 - can barely hear it.
Is there a setting or even an equalizer that I can use to maybe fix this issue? Also is there any setting in the phone ( running stock ) that I might've pressed that decreased my volume?
Look into a custom rom, I know Hyperdrive has a volume hack slight/loud which works for me. Hopefully someone has an easier way to accomplish this.
Unfortunately I can't root this phone because it was given to me for work purposes.
Sometimes I have this problem, idk how busy you are, but hangouts will sometimes lower volume for me to make a notification sound and forget to put it back, try making your phone give you a notification sound and see if puts it back

My Moto E (Tracfone) worked fine for many months. Now, I hear nothing during calls. When put into speakerphone mode, all is well. Also, plugging in earbuds works well. I do get normal volume from message alerts, ring tone, etc.
Perhaps another app has disabled audio for the "normal" (non speakerphone) case? How to identify the culprit?

I seem to be having a similar problem, though it came with a brand new phone. I simply cannot hear anything during some calls. I have to call back, sometimes even a couple of times, to make it work.
This is basically a more elaborate "Bump!"
Sometimes people can't hear me so I put it on speaker phone and turn down the volume.

It doesn't help me know what to do, but I wonder if this is a proximity detector issue?
