sense 5 "taskbar" - HTC Droid DNA

I am stumped...Can the taskbar type bar at the bottom of sense 5 rom be altered to have less or different shortcuts? Every time I try to get rid of something it just makes a copy and original stays put? Can't put in trash either. I have looked all over the menues and don't see an option. Is this a bug or have I missed the obvious?

You have to drag them into the app drawer instead of the home screen to take the old ones out.

Soft key mod?

I've done a little looking around for a soft key mod but very little luck. Is there a mod to put soft keys permanently on the bottom of the screen ? Move the dock up little and put the 4 keys rough below.

Check out button savior but you might need the paid version to set it up like you want but good app.

Moving the dock up is something that has never been done before and would require quite a bit of screen-redoing.
What I used tho do is disable my dock and turn on button savior, placing the keys at bottom center.

i played around with button savior and softkeys app but the problem is they overlap ontop of programs or my keyboard. I was looking for something that made its own area.

The low end touched on this by saYing it would take a lot of screen redoing.
Basically a lot of base code would need overwriting so Android would fit the remainder into the area. Any app won't be able to shrink and redraw everything, nor would Android draw to avoid the soft buttons.
That's not to say it's impossible, I just don't think it's been done yet.
No but maybe a launcher??? Lightning launcher lets me adjust the size of everything. And move it and...........

Can't you realign the dock to right or left vertical on that launcher?

hehe, I always thought it'd be kind of nice to have the ics soft buttons at the bottom of our screen =)
but not as large as the ones on the galaxy nexus, jeez, excessive consumption of the screen

[Q] When making status bar icons, can I stretch the image out?

Can I stretch the, say, battery icon out to be longer like if I wanted to make a battery bar(health bar)? Or does it have to be a square image?
Anyone know?
they're square for a reason. can't simply stretch them. it's coded so they can be read correctly to be displayed. image dimensions are based upon the device such as mdpi, hdpi and so forth
So then no...I can't take a 42x42 (XHDPI) image and stretch it to say 108x42 (LengthxHight)?

that's correct. whatever app/component that image belongs to is coded to know that image is supposed to be 42x42
K thanks for the reply.
Sent from my HTC Rezound using Tapatalk 2
you can / cant do it. if you are going to make the img longer then you will need to edit the xml so it will allow the space. most of the status bar is defined by an xml for the locate, kinda like if you delete the png for gms and instead of reclaiming the space it will leave a blank spot.
Do u happen to know which XML it is?

Anyways, I said it usually will be in the layout.xml although not all apk's will be the same.

Disable BlinkFeed in Sense 5?

Is it possible? For me its just a wasted home screen and annoying that the phone likes to default to it as the default home screen. Anyone else feel like Sense 5 would be better without it?

The only way to "disable" blinkfeed currently is to not set anything up and to set another screen as your home screen. It will still be sitting there on the far left, but ignorance is bliss, so you just don't swipe too far left. LOL I'm sure it will come with time, but the developers are still concentrating on getting all the bugs out before they start working on the tweaks.
You can just set a different homescreen as the default one.

On your HTC One Home Screen just swipe to left.
Just tap and hold on any blank area of the screen.
A Panel will appear on the top. From the available panel, you can set one as your alternative to BlinkFeed. Just tap and drag the panel you wish to set it as home screen. Drag the panel to “Set as home”.

Same here. At first I was like "What is this garbage???"
But after using it for some time now, I really like it. It is a great content delivery vehicle, and honestly has made twitter something enjoyable now.
I hated and despised blinkfeed to begin with. Eventually I kinda grew to it. Only have my Twitter feed instead of FB and all that going to it. Quite useful now.

My wife says she can't rearrange the home screens.

Now she's at work with her new phone and I'm at work with my old Note 2 so I'm of no help. From my Sensations days I asked her to pinch to zoom to bring up home screen preview and rearrange them there but she said that is no good. The little screen to add another home screen page she says she can drag the home screens around but can't rearrange them. Is there any special trick to rearranging the home screens on the HTC One?
I have the same problem. I've been told that it can't be done with Sense 5.

Yea its kinda limited right now. Better hope the JB/4.2.2 version of Sense 5 adds that ability.

What I did is add a panel, pick which one I wanted as my home screen, picked it, then populated the screens as I wanted. Not difficult.

Which is downright stupid and confusing. Maybe I've been using Nexus devices for too long but I never had a learning curve on Android til I got this phone. (I love it but some things just seem like they were not very thought out.)

I can help. Just open the app drawer, long press on the app you want to remove. Drag it up and it will load back in the drawer leaving a blank space. Then drag the app you want to replace down to the blank space on the dock.

Let me try again once my wife is home, we were trying to do that but every time we drag a app out the same app appear on the drawer again so was not sure if there is any other way to get this done.
I will report back after trying it again

If that doesn't work for you, drag the other app down to the app you want to replace and it'll make a folder on your dock. Then just remove the app you want gone. Either way, it's more steps than it should be but you'll get the result you want!

Is there anything else that can be done ?

You might want to retry or do a master reset if none of what we've said is working. I'm including a screenshot of me dragging a random app (Facebook) to my dock to make a folder.

No. You dont drag it TO the drawer. You drag it FROM the drawer TO the taskbar. After, of course, dragging the icon you want to replace FROM the task bar TO the drawer.

It makes sense to me. What didnt make sense on my S2 was to first create a shortcut on a homescreen panel and then drag it to the bottom task bar. Thats two steps. With the One, its one step. From the drawer to the taskbar.
Thank You for these tips. I have been trying to figure this out. I will admit some of these things are strange coming from the Nexus 4 but I can deal with them for this awesome phone.
So when I drag it as per the screenshot. It does add the app to the drawer but then you can not remove either of the apps and this thing is pissing me how
Dont understand why something this simple can be made so difficult by HTC

I've got a few more screenshots that will hopefully help from here. Once you've created the folder, click on it to where it brings the two apps up. Then long press the app you wish to remove and drag it to the drawer.

How do you get shortcuts on the lock screen?
Try swiping the clock from right to left. Can also swipe down to expand. And can go left to right to add pages widgets ect.

I completely forgot the obvious one. I prefer on mine to have them swiped by the clock to keep accidental presses down. But I can see how some would prefer that way.
