I just got an a710 with 4.04. I think I understand how to get CwM on it. But when I read the thread, it said it cannot be used on top of the stock rom. How do I install it then if I have the stock rom? Thanks for any help!

How do I access the system files through usb? I cant access it through usb using my computer. I just need to know how to place the recovery file in the root folder.
The way I did it was I moved the cwm file to a SD card then moved it manually to the root of my device.

This is my final question and thanks so much for replying. You been a huge help. How do i root it?
No problem glad I could help
To Root: http://www.unlockroot.com/
Instructions for AOKP
Download the latest AOKP and the LY-F1 compatibility zip file
CWM controls (VOL -) DOWN, (VOL +) Select and Power Button to go back
Boot in CWM and first fully wipe the tablet, then flash the AOKP then the LY-F1 compatibility zip and flash Gapps then reboot and your done

I thanked all of your replies. I tried using the unlockroot program but it keeps saying "try to install the driver" and it wont root. I am guessing I dont have the correct adb usb drivers? Any help getting it to root is appreciated. I feel so bad asking you all the time for help!
Don't feel bad I was in a same position as you didn't know nothing about the tablet and how to root etc and Yeh you have to install the drivers you did check USB debugging right?

USB debugging is on and after it installs the drivers nothing happens. It keeps asking me to "do you want to install drivers" over and over again. I wish this was so straight forward like when I had to root/flash my samsung galaxy s2. This is giving me a headache. Im so glad your here to guide me!
Don't know I mean it should have just rooted it thats what I did after it installed the drivers :/

Hi folks,
I'm having a similar issue, I have a variant of the mid a710 tablet. I changed the dpi to make it more usable and now the tablet is basically a brick as I stupidly didn't install a new launcher app and it repeatedly says "Unfortunately launcher has stopped" (I've looked for a way to fix this but no joy).
My problem is that I cannot find a working driver for the tablet to allow me to flash it. I followed the link from earlier in this thread for Chinese device drivers however it's saying it's not suitable for 64 bit windows, tried it on my 32-bit machine and said it wasn't suitable for that either.
When I get it into recovery mode (lying down android with the red triangle) none of the buttons work to choose wiping the device (vol- and such).
Does anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this tablet? Not too bothers about having JB but at least getting back to ICS would be lovely.
Thanks.
thanks alot guys
where can i get CWM? and why is this file need it:LY-F1 compatibility zip file ???

Dont know what you have been reading or where from .
All i can say is 500 flashes plus with no USB debugging on .
USB Debugging is intended for development purposes only. It can be used to copy data between your computer and your device, install applications on your device without notification, and read log data."
Your choice to believe the answers or not or just stick with stock .

If rooting worked, then don't worry.
If your not sure that it worked then download a root checker from the Play Store.
Hey all,
Is there any diagnostic tool for the android devices what read out the devices of there is any trouble in the software or hardware?
Edit: it must be software for a PC it doesnt matter if its running linux or windows.

1st of all, wrong sub-forum. In development forum, there must be devlepoment. There is a forum specially for q&a. Not only that, but there is a whole forum for at&t.

Enabled USB debuggingon the phone before running the root tool?
Also, root only works on the 10c firmware I beleive. Some of the newer devices seem to be coming with newer firmware and you'll need to downgrade that in order to obtain root.

Make sure you install Android Sdk and the Pantech ELement pc suite. You will need the sdk for adb and fastboot and the pc suite should take care of the driver issues.
There is a Pantech Element upgrade tool available on Pantech USa website,it should help you with the upgrade to ICS 4.0.4. Once you upgrade to ICS, you can follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271775
to get twrp on the tablet then you can use one of the stock rooted roms
