[Q] Big problem with x10a - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm new at the forum and have read some threads about problems on x10.
My phone is a x10a, with Gingerbread version installed via Flashtool long ago, I bought the phone +/- 2 years ago.
Well, last night I installed 2 apps, 1 for wallpapers and the other one was Go Launcher.
Till that ok, everything running, but then I decided to restart my phone cuz it was on for several days. The problem started there, I couldn't turn it on again after I turned it off.
So today I searched a little for problems like these, tried to flash my device, but it turns the green light on for a few seconds then it goes off, and my device is disconnected from the Flashtool. Tried to charge my battery for like 30 minutes, tried taking out the microSD, tried turn on holding volume and power button together, tried turning on without the battery (connected to the charger), but still stuck.
If anybody pleeeease can help me I would be REALLY glad!!!
Thanks in advance

Well in some cases it works, so try to remove battery hold back button, plug your USB cable and insert the battery. It should connect in flashmode. Then flash official ROM and it should start. At least I hope so.

Didn't work too =/
Thank you guys, I gave up and taken the phone to a technician
Take care

I do have the x10a with the same problem. Lot of users will recommend pc companion method but the problem is that the device is not recognized by the computer/other OS.
I bought the Galaxy S3 instead

I am facing the same problem. I think it might be the battery !! Try starting with a different battery.

Phone bricked, cannot charge, need help ASAP

I need help with this NOW if anyone can. I figured I'd go ahead and make a thread for it so it would get seen. I was trying to update to 2.1 and something went wrong. Long story short the battery drained and now even when it's plugged into the wall all it does is flash its little red light. If I can get it to charge I think I can get things working again but as it stands I don't even know if it is charging. If I have it plugged into the wall and remove the battery the led turns green. If I put the batt back in afterwards it will go off after a bit and eventually "turn on" (in this case that just means that the screen comes on but is completely black but backlit) but there is no led indication at all so i don't know if it's charging or what. It doesn't seem to be. I really need help asap. Thanks in advance.
Silly question perhaps.. have you tried putting it into flash mode for SEUS (phone off hold back key, plug in USB cable)...?? does it register the phone?
Open pc companion hold back button and insert the micro Ian until it says stop it should then tell you your software is already the latest but if there's a problem you can use the repair option. Hth

Tried it just now, nothing.
My suggestion would be to plug it in for a few hours then try again. Or take battery out completely and try the back button without a battery. Might work. Might not. Sorry. Doubt the phone is bricked tho.

Just out of interest how long have you left it on the charge for? Because the red light flashes while charging until 10% and I remember once when my battery fully drained it did that for a few minutes until phone turned on again. Leave it for a while if you haven't done so.
The reason I ask is, incase you saw red light flashing and took it off charge straight away thinking its faulty? Like I said it sometimes takes a while to turn on fully when battery has died.
Edit: I know this is unhelpful, but that's why when you update via SEUS it says to ensure battery has 50%

I got he same problem 3 weeks ago. i could not get the phone to boot anymore even after trying all the unbrick method available here. so i sent it to sony ericsson service and they changed the motherboard.
okay, been charging for a while now and still have the red light. Pretty confident it isn't charging.
Plz try another usb cablr. I know about 20 people whoms usb cable accidently died and the phones cannot charge anymore ....

But the phone won't even boot. Will the battery charge while it's off? or when it's on a black screen? I know 2.1 lets it charge when it's off now, but the OP said the update screwed up.
Other suggestions that may take some time:
1. Find someone else who has an X10 and charge it in their phone.
2. Bring it to your phone provider and ask them to charge it.
3. Bring it to your phone provider and exchange the battery (temporarily?).
4. Buy an external wall charger (one that lets you charge the battery directly, not in the phone).
I ended up bypassing the phone and charging the battery directly via a macgyvered usb cable. Don't ask. lol. But I got it charged enough to use the se update tool and restore it back to the original rom. I'll try the update to 2.1 later after I get this thing charged all the way up. Thanks guys.

I had the same problem this morning. I went to bed last night and the phone was fine. This morning it wasn't booting up at all, I wasn't even getting the SE logo.
I was able to fix it with SEUS: plugged in the USB port while holding the Back key and the device turned on in Flash mode so I was able to flash it.
Hope it helps.

I have the same problem. First it wasn't working, then it was, and now it isn't again. I don't get a SE logo also. But when I plug in, I'm not able to turn on flash mode. It freezes, and SEUS says it can't repair my phone. What should I do?

What procedure are you following to turn it on in flash mode?
What I did was that I plugged the USB cable while holding down the back button, there is no need to press any other button, it should automatically turn on.

That's what I did. I select factory reset in SEUS, it tells me to press the back button en plug in. I do so, it detect that I did, the little light on the phone turns green. SEUS begin repairing, but almost immediately says it is unable to repair.
I think it is because the phone freezes there. When I plug out, the light stays green, and all I can do is pull the battery out.
The same when I just try to turn the phone on. The light flashes, it vibrates ones (like it normally would) and then it stops and I cant do anything with it but pull out the battery.
you need to 1, pull the battery. 2, connect your phone via usb (still without battery). 3, open pc companion. 4, choose repair. 5, select x10 when asked phone model. 6, when asked to connect phone, put your battery in whilst holding the back button. 7, sit back, relax and your phone will be restored.
the reason your phone won't turn on/update/restore is due to a bootloop.
follow above steps and you x10 should always restore to factory...
I just think that the battery is too low and it can't live to finish the repair process

Tried that now, but it doesn't work. The phone doesn't go into flash mode, and the pc doesn't find him. SEUS on the other hand does find him, but gives the same error.

That would really make sense, the only problem is that my phone doesn't charge when I put him in the loader. Or is there an other way to try to charge it?

Tried again a few times, and now the phone goes into flash mode, and Pc Compagnion starts to repare, but gives an error after a while (the process bar shows zero progress, so I think the error is a time out error).
Other suggestions?

[Q] Xperia neo will not turn on, help needed

Hi, my girlfriends's xperia neo won't power on or charge, last night she was playing a game and the phone powered down because the battery died , she then plugged it in and in the morning it we found it wasn't turning on anymore. When we press the power button , the LED blinks red three times, this has happened before but when we left it alone, it started working.
We have tried taking the battery, SIM and MicroSD out, then plugging the cable in, waiting a while, putting the battery in and waiting another while (we saw this on a forum) sadly it didn't work (tried this with both the wall charger and charging from pc)
the phone is still under warranty and she doesnt want me to void it by flashing new FW
Can anyone help or should we send it back to sony for repair? I'd prefer to be able to fix it at home, (i have plenty of experience repairing software issues on various android phones)

Try charging with another mini-usb (all are compatible with Neo),and if doesn't charge,it means that it's a hardware failure.

Since the software it's unmodified,i don't think that it's a software related problem,but worth a try.
i had problems like that with my galaxy mini .. it was caused by bad usb cable... try to charge with another one... or the battery finally died... buy a new one

Send it to repair. You won't be able to fix it at home, unless you have SeTool box.

My x10 is stone dead

Hi [After many tries and errors i finally updated with seus and the problem was solved, thanks to all for helping]
i know there are loads of threads up about the X10 being dead but i dont find those problems and solutions any good for my problem so here it is.
I started getting weird boot loops, and the phone started and shut down by itself. Now it wont charge, and it wont turn on.
Things ive already tried:
Tried taking out the battery + sim and sd card, holding the power button for 5sec and then re inserting the battery. ( didnt work )
Tried connecting it to the computer so i could update with pcc ( didnt work )
Tried holding the <-------- button while connecting to computer, ( didnt work )
Tried leaving the battery for a couple of days so it would get low and then trying to charge it ( didnt work )
Tried charging the phone without the battery plugged in ( the green light went on for a while then stoped. :S )
so right now, it wont turn on, it wont charge. What can i do ?

You can also charge your battery with external charger or put it in some another phone and charge it.
After its charged, flash stock firmware using flashtool or use pc companion or seus to go to 2.3.3
Similar problem, no solution thus far
I have a similar problem as the OP, but nothing suggested has worked, my situation a bit more unique (or dire depending on how you look at it).
My phone was working fine about a week and half ago, it had been hanging a lot if I remember correctly and I had to flash a few times the last couple of months. I had just done a flash and the phone was working perfectly so I left it on my desk a couple of days maybe. When I got back to it it would not turn on or charge. I tried everything I'd learned, taking the batter out and leaving it for a bit, leaving it charging for a whole day. No matter what I did I could not get it charged or recognized in USB. I bough a new battery and it arrived today, left it charging for a couple of hours, but nothing's changed. I would hate to have to buy a new phone if there is a possibly simple solution. Anyone?
No LED's whatsoever, the phone is just stone cold non-responsive. Thanks in advance.

Take an old micro usb ,, cut it ,, you will see 4 cables
Green and white for data (pc connection)
And red +
And black or grey -
Take only red + and black -
Then take the battery out of the phone connect the cables plus + go to plus +
And minus - goto minus - ( you can orientate by the battery
Then put battery in with cables connected do you understand?
My english is not so good xD

i installed a custom rom, and it started losing power gradually even when it is connect to the computer. next day
it was like the condition rite now. you can see the red light, but the phone cannot boot, neither enter fastboot.
Try this: Not sure if it will work...
1) Just connect it to usb cable to pc... Leave it for few hrs..
2) Then open Sony PC Companion and try repair...
I Accidentaly bricked my gf acro s . Ended in bootloop and i did this.. It Worked.
try to charge with dock, it helped for me only acro s if it helped, please, hit thanks

Thanks,
I had a nasty problem, not charging with a new rom and not being able to fastboot etc, only a few seconds in recovery.
i searched my whole house for the acro-s dock, and plugged it in, then also plugged the usb on the phone to a pc usb port, don't know if that added some power, but this gave it enough power to instantly boot & charging... So now I can install a decent rom again.
