You don't need an external sd-card. Just (carefully) read the instructions in the specific Neatrom-thread. They're there to be followed, and they include every step. Good luck.

It's not a case of searching for a thread that matches your current version, but looking for a new rom with the version YOU want. So if you're on LPW, follow the instructions on the Neatrom-thread, flash the new rom you want and you're done.
And indeed, first read a little bit more, because most people brick their devices as a result of not knowing what they're doing.
Good luck.
Come to the dark side and custom rom it. If you have Cwm its a easy thing to do. Look up how to install a custom rom. I thought that dual booting was hard. if you read read read then it's easy. If you do want a custom rom look on goo.im app on play store.

Hi, admittedly I am new at this, and there might happen to be an easy solution to my issue.
My question is simple, can I install MIUI rom sucessfully on my i9100 XWLPT? And how?
On the official site, when I press the i9100 link, I only get instructions regarding ZSLPE?
Thanks in advance

Yes, you can.
First you need to post your ROM and kernel details; Goto Settings - About phone, and post everything you see

You are good.
Follow these steps:
- Boot to CWM recovery
- Backup your present ROM (recommended but optional)
- wipe data/factory reset
- format /system (under mounts and storage)
- flash Miui ROM
- Reboot phone.
If you have any questions, do let me know

Only one question: The miui room, is for android 4.0.3, so do I not need to restor to that original release first?
If this is not needed, I will post results when finished
Thank you
Okey so my Sgs2 is on android 4.0.4 I9100XXLQ6

My Problem is:
I can't seem to find right CF-Root for my kernel.
Could anyone give me a tip?
Or perhaps straight answer?

I'll advise a custom kernel e.g Siyah, Dorimanx, Speedmod, etc (not CF-ROOT) to avoid the infamous brick bug.

I'm sorry to be such a noob with rooting stuff.
What i want to my phone is clockworkmod recovery and root.
Does all of those give me both of them
Oh, and to be exact, I want to keep it simple. So, no custom rom or anything. just the basic root rigths and CWM recovery.

Those custom kernels will solve that.

1. You can use any custom kernel of your choice, not necessarily Siyah.
Speedmod, Dorimanx, Dream, Neak kernels etc
Just make sure the kernel you want to flash is compatible with stock ROMs. The ones i listed above including Siyah are compatible with stock ROMs
2. If you are going to flash Siyah kernel, the latest version (4.1.5) will work best for you
Thank you very much, that helped a lot.
And the flashing itself i will do with odin?
i have it on my pc, but does the odin version affect on anything?

You don't necessarily have to use Odin version. You can also download the CWM zip version.
You have two options:
1. Using recovery:
A.) Root your phone with the method in the link you posted earlier
B.) Flash the kernel (CWM zip version) via Odin the temporary CWM recovery
Or
2. Using Odin
A.) Download .tar Odin version of any kernel of your choice
B.) Flash the kernel via Odin.
Thanks. now everythings clear as.. i dont know something.

I'm curious on if it's possible to root my Samsung Galaxy S2. The information of it is:
Model Number:
GT-i9100
Android Version:
4.0.3
Baseband Version:
I9100DXLPA
Kernel Version:
3.0.15-I9100DXLPB-CL709089
[email protected] #3
Also curious on if it matters what the baseband is when rooting a device. I know the model, version, and kernel is what matters but not sure about baseband.
Welcome to the forum. Don't take what I'm going to say below the wrong way.

Yes. There are rooting guides all over the place. Some of them are even stickied. Rule 1 of the forum is to search before posting.

No. Basebands can be changed later. You can even use a modem that was originally shipped with Gingerbread while the phone is running ICS, or vice versa.

First of all, i got my SGS2 2 days ago, switched over from iphone after 5 years, so don't judge me . I'm thrilled with SGS2, such a perfect phone. I got it unscratched, almost new. Browsing through the forums, i saw CM rom that i would like to install on my phone, but then ... I saw people talking about superbrick , so i installed eMMC check and saw it says that i got insane chip. My "About" screen gives following info:
Model number : GT-I9100
Android version : 4.0.4
Baseband version : I9100XXLQ6
Kernel version : 3.0.15-1157945 [email protected] #3 SMP PREEMPT Fri Oct 26 16:17:36 KST 2012
Build number : IMM76D.XWLQ2
My question is, how can i manage to install CM rom on my phone without bricking it ? I tried searching through the forums, not that i didn't , but im kinda unsure. Should i apply SiyahKernel S2-v5.0.1 through Odin first, and then try to apply CM 10.1 or even some stock rom or what ? Sorry to bother you, but i'm fairly new to android kernels/roms. Thanks in advance.

And can i root ? That would be all, don't wanna bother you anymore. Thanks :good:
You'll be rooted with siyah and yeah, you can flash those ROMs via CWM.

BACKUP
But before doing anything don't forget to backup you default ROM.
I have done it in CWM recovery in the "backup and restore" .
It will create a folder in SD card -->clockworkmod--->backup ( I recommend to upload that whole folder somwhere USB maybe only to be sure if anything will happend to that SD card ) .
It saved me last time when I couldn't start the SII.

Of course.
1) Flash Siyah.
2) Backup ROM through CWM.
3) Backup all storage and apps using TiBu or Carbon.
4) Use nuke script to clean phone.
5) Flash new ROM.
6) ???
7) Profit.
