Hi all.
First I have a I9305 but since this isn't device specific I didn't think it would matter where I put it.
Recently I been getting things saying "memory full" or thing along that line. I went into storage and, yep it was full. I had to remove all my pictures just to take a screen shot. My question is how can I free it all up? Ive moved my pictures to my SD card and I can't seem to find anything else. Can someone please help? My SD card has 4GB left out of 16gb.

did you check the "manage apps" stats? some apps eating up space? e.g. games?

I went into application manager if that's what you mean? It doesn't tell me anything. Only angry birds using 53mb is the biggest.

You can also tap the Miscellaneous files tab to see what takes up so much storage, and delete from there if you like.
Oh goody thanks for that

Is there an easier way to active data2ext that I just haven't figured out yet?
Everytime I try a new rom I have to flash data2ext and run the full list of commands in terminal emulator...is there something I'm missing that makes the process a whole lot quicker?
yea, use link2sd
Is that the same as data2ext? I can get my 1 gig of internal memory?

Yesjust backup your whole SD card to your computer and format your sdcard, next in recovery go to advanced/partition SD card and pick what size you want, then download and open link2sd and pick ext 3, reboot your phone and reload your SD card from your computer to your phone, and you will be able to link all of your user apps to your sdcard, giving you virtually unlimited space.

Personally, I like data2ext far better than link2sd

data2ext automatically installs everything to sd. link2sd you can customize which programs to send to sd.
havntt tried data2ext, but link2sd works for me, they added a multiselect option recently and you just move all your apps in one go, i have maybe 40 apps and 230mb on my ext, and 60/200mb or so on my internal
So my problem is this: i am using stock froyo 2.2.1 and everybody knows ace hasn't so much place.
I only install apps who are for sd card.
Today i tried installing fruit ninja an in market it was written 18mb.
Then i managed the app bit there was written only 4mb an move to phone. I checked my phone space and it was 4mb less.
How can this be? Ill post screens later.

You can never move full app to SD. Always small part is on phone.

It seemsvyou cannot do that. Its the same on Asus transformer. Except you do some mod to trick the system to understand that ext sd is int-sd.

Mind blown, why lol it's like a couple steps backward,l
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I have read on Asus Transformer forum that it's the way Android is. Your int-memory will be seen as sdcard, and ext-sd is just external memory for movies and music or other stuffs. Hopefully, someone can do the mod to trick the system like the guy on Trnasformer forum.

To free up internal memory for other uses, like the OP states.

Not possible yet...
Don't try any of the apps2SD apps. Still not possible to designate our Galaxy S3 extSdCard as "SDcard". We'll have to wait for devs to figure out a work-around. Why Samsung chose to label internal memory as SDcard is beyond me and it stifles our choices. But then they also change the TRRS pin-out for the headphones/headset so it doesn't work like every other phone out there...
Hey! I need help. I think the internal memory on my sgs is dead! I only have 1.98 G of internal app space. The internal usb storage is good but the one for the apps in very low! HELP!

Internal storage is system reserved partition for system files only. Like Windows folder on your computer. The apps and your personal data are stored on the internal sd card that is 11.5 Gigs.
Its the same on all GS2s. Mine is also 1.97/98.

It's totally normal. The others user comment are right. Dont worry and enjoy your phone!
Well that's a relief! Sorry for the noobish worry! I had mem issues a few days ago a though that it had affected the mem internally! But ok! Thanks! And let the flashing.continue!

Question is still open.
My guess is that someone has to make some small mod to make this happen, I've looked everywhere in the very limited settings, but it's obviously not there.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Guess?
I'm guessing its because 4.2 is ripped from Nexus which doesnt have a SD card.
The 4.2 camera comes from the Nexus that has no external SD card. You won't be able to change it. What you can do is run an app like Atooma to create a process that automatically sends picturws to a folder on the SD card instead of to the phone. The other option involves using Directory Bind, a root app that will reroute your pictures to another folder but I have no idea how it works.
