Dear XDA Member
I´m customizing a Rom for myself (Jelly Bean MS1)
I have a few question about it:
How can i change the starting language, after installing the rom (now english, want to have german)
In SecBrowser.apk the default startpage, and favorites. Where i can change it, so i have my favorites & startpage, when i install the rom
Edit: think have found the startpage in /csc/features.xml
Edit: found favorites in /csc/customer.xml
How to Set the default ringtones
Edit: think have found it in build.prop
I think that´s all
Thx for answers

Hey everyone! Tryed using search but couldn't find definitive answers.. So here goes:
How to change the typing language? I installed the english ROM but want to type in russian sometimes. Do I need to download a separate keyboard app? But I like the MIUI keyboard layout. I don't want to install russian MIUI ROM since I want everything to be in english but sometimes type in russian.
How do I transfer my Notes (from stock ROM) to MIUI Notes? I had quite a few so retyping them would be a pain.
For some reason birthdays from contacts stopped showing up in Calendar. It syncs fine as it seems but they are not there. All the entries that I entered manually in calendar show up fine. It's just birthdays from contacts that don't.
Just one general question about ROMs (noob one). How do I go about restoring the original ROM? Do I donwload it separately here from XDA and flash it just like any custom ROM or is there a more "correct" way? Just wanna auto update when ICS comes out.
Thanks in advance and sorry for noob questions! I learn fast though and will help others when I learn more

Hi,
i´m currently trying to cook my first rom, but i got a problem with go launcher.
first i´ve deleted every launcher and added go launcher ex to my rom.
i´ve found a very beautiful theme for go launcher and added it to my system/app folder....
now my question:
is it possible to automaticaly add this theme to go launcher directly at flashing the rom? i want this theme to be my default theme, but dont want to change the original go launcher res graphics.
thanks for your help and sorry for my bad english :-/
Please help meee
I tried and failed to modify a theme for Go for my own use.
This was because I didn't have a clue what I was doing - I'm no themer. Just tried deleting some pngs and changing colours in others - beyond me.
Later, I downloaded this, but never installed it - switched to LauncherPro. Maybe useful for you?
ohh, this is cool thx
will try it tomorrow..
hopefully i can handle my problem with it.. i´ve got a perfect theme
but i want to make it default to go launcher..
when the users are installing my rom, i want that the theme is allready applied!!
maybe other ideas to make a theme a default theme for go launcher directly after flash ??

i tried to add Hebrew to my samsung keyboard by doing this:
i copied the "T9DB" folder (from Orange (Partner) [16052012] I9100JHLP9 (4.0.3))
and deodexed AxT9IME.apk (also from Orange (Partner) [16052012] I9100JHLP9 (4.0.3))
but had only English,French and Arabic?
i'm not interested in swipe or software alternatives
i want to understand what i need to do* in order to add the hebrew language
any help would be appreciated
edit:
Code:
<SamsungKeypad>
<inputmethod_type>QwertyKeypad</inputmethod_type>
<inputlist>en(UK);en(US);iw;ar;ru;ko;</inputlist>
<xt9_enabled>off</xt9_enabled>
<word_completion>on</word_completion>
<word_completion_point>2</word_completion_point>
<spell_correction>on</spell_correction>
<next_word_prediction>on</next_word_prediction>
<auto_append>off</auto_append>
<auto_subtitution>off</auto_subtitution>
<regional_correction>off</regional_correction>
<recapture>off</recapture>
<keypad_sweeping>on</keypad_sweeping>
<Auto_capitalization>on</Auto_capitalization>
<recognition_time>500</recognition_time>
<Auto_period>off</Auto_period>
<voice_input_enabled>on</voice_input_enabled>
<lang_en_gb>off</lang_en_gb>
<lang_en_us>on</lang_en_us>
<Hebrew>on</Hebrew>
</SamsungKeypad>
adding this to system/csc/others.xml
solved half of the problem, i see hebrew instead of french and i can write in hebrew aswell
now i get a message in sms:
attention: Message may be corrupted on recipient device. change input method to automatic?
and it does get corrupted.
search function is currently down in the forum, will check later
2nd edit:
in sms screen, tap on capacitive menu button => settings:
under "Text message (SMS) settings"
tap on "Input mode"
and choose "Automatic"
or if "GSM alphabet" was selected select "Unicode" and vice versa
i hope that will help other users
android is so much fun
3rd edit:
thanks firefds for the "hint"
4th edit:
i attached the files per a request
and "T9DB" Folder path is "System\T9DB"
as for the path i extracted T9DB from:
I9100JHLP9_I9100PTRLP9_I9100JHLP9_HOME.tar\cache.ext4\recovery\sec_csc.zip\system\T9DB
why dont you install another rom?
just flash a multi-language rom ( like some of the samsung based, or aokp, or miui )
and they have hebrew, dont start messing up your device if you're new to this.
btw you have pilotx hebrew rom samsung based
on pilotx.co.il
and some other hebrew roms on iandroid.co.il, try there.

Hello,
I have nowhere found an answear, that's why I'm asking You.
I'm on CM10.1 by mikeioannina, and have only one small issue.
I can't download and install other than english add-on dictionaries to AOSP keyboard. English is working perfectly. I've read on some forums that it is needed to go into add-on dictionaries, click refresh and more languages appear (for me polish apears), but when I try to install it, it just dissappears. I tried clearing data of dictionary provider apk, stopping the proccess, all that I found in google and xda.
So, any of You guys, have a clue how to do it? Maybe it's possible to manually push some files?
Please, help!!! That gesture typing in this keyboard is awesome. I don't want to use swiftkey or swype, as they are thrice as laggy as stock aosp keyboard.
Any help would be higly appreciated, cheers !
