Boot looping, can't get to recovery - HTC Rezound

My wife's rezound is stuck in a boot loop. I can get into fastboot but not recovery (goes directly into boot loop), and attempt at factory reset in bootloader also goes to bootloop.
I ran the 605.2 RUU from android police then installed jb H-boot to use fastboot commands. Flashed Amon-Ra recovery in fastboot (showed as successful) but still boot-loops immediately when trying to go to recovery.
I should mention that the phone dropped in water but after drying it, it ran fine for several days until I rebooted to go into recovery. The moisture tab on the battery still looks fine. Gonna try posting a picture of my H-boot screen for more detailed info. I also flashed just the boot image from RUU, but didn't help.
Any thoughts on what to try next?

Ok since you fastboot flashed your recovery. Try doing a fastboot boot of it.
"fastboot boot **name-of-recovery**.img" See if that get's you anywhere. Since your s-off then wipe data/cache/system & reflash a rom. Also I would try TWRP or CWM Touch if that method doesn't work and still causes a reboot.
PS: Make sure you have a rom on your sdcard prior also.

I'll try that as well as a different recovery if that doesn't work. I have only tried Amon-Ra as that is what I was using before. Do I need to have "recovery" in the command as in fastboot boot recovery "recovery name".img
Speaking of volume buttons are talking about navigating to select recovery? If so...I know how to select which function I want but each time I select recovery or factory reset it immediately boot-loops. I put the picture in to show the H-boot specific info (H-boot version, bootloader state, S flag, radios, etc..)

No go on fastboot boot of recovery, straight to bootloop. I'll try the other recoveries later. After running an RUU and flashing boot image in fastboot, shouldn't that theoretically give me a bootable OS, regardless of recovery? Or do I need a custom recovery to have it function? Thanks for the tips

You don't need the extra line in the command. fastboot boot +filename is all you need.
If on a patched hboot it works even with zImages.

Tried all three recoveries. Installs all showed as successful, yet straight to bootloop as soon as I try entering recovery from bootloader or fastboot commands.

Revert back to 3.14.605.12 ruu. Then try a normal boot.

No go. RUU install was successful but still goes straight to white HTC screen and starts looping. Did not flash a recovery yet if that matters at this point

If you ran the RUU you should have a stock recovery. Did you flash the RUU twice?

Try a factory reset. If it bootloops back from the stock recovery then it's hosed and not much more you can do from this point.

Think I'm out of luck. Maybe I can part it out for a few bucks. Think I might suck it up and buy my wife a DNA. I love mine even though I'm stuck on stock with the new firmware.
Thanks a bunch to everyone who attempted to help me out.

I was stuck in boot loop the other day after throwing a new rom to try out on my sd. I was freaking out being away from a computer all day at work, Try pulling SD card, (not all the way just enough so it's not connected), then with battery loose but touching holding down and power to get into recovery. Then get into delete boot image...etc. from the developer menu but before you select it ever so slightly reach in while holding battery at angle and put the card back in. then delete image. that's how i got outta my bootloop. may not be the same bl reason. IDK.

#1 Every time I restart my phone, it goes to a session that was 2weeks ago. ie (text messages are erased and reset back to where it was two weeks ago, My pictures i've taken are gone and the ones from two weeks ago are only there.) Basically its like the phone doesn't remember anything after two weeks ago.
#3 Factory reset / Hard reset doesn't do anything. I get to the triangle with the exclamation point and push the up volume + power to get to another menu. I select wipe data/factory reset --- I get the following
#2 I can't for the life of me unlock the bootloader for HBOOT 1.93.0002 with Hasoon2000's tool
I would like to install Jelly bean on this phone.
I am BY FAR no expert, but it looks as though your bootloader is still locked. You need to submit your Token ID to HTC and they will send you a .bin file that you can use to unlock your phone's bootloader.
Again, perhaps I'm not understanding your issue correctly so I don't want to go into too much detail and steer you in the wrong direction. Hopefully one of the gurus can pop in and shed some more light on your problem.

Heck maybe even start with gb ruu. See if you can work from there and we get that you can't unlock your bootloader bud. so try that ruu and I'd say otherwise call htc/cell provider company cause that's goofy stuff

Try flashing the ICS ruu (Make sure it's not an OTA!) through the computer. This can be done by getting the RUU for your carrier (make sure it's an ICS one), preferrably the 531.3 version or the R2 version if you're on T-Mobile (which you are from the pictures). After you have it, rename it to PH85IMG and then put it in an accessible location.
Assuming you have fastboot drivers set up, open command prompt and make sure your phone is fully charged and is in fastboot mode.
Then type in the following commands in RED:
fastboot erase cache
(If it doesn't allow you due to an error "Remote: Not allowed", it's not a big deal)
fastboot oem rebootRUU
(Please note that the case IS important here. rebootruu WILL NOT work. It has to be rebootRUU. It will load up a screen with HTC text in silver. This is normal)
fastboot flash zip PH85IMG.zip
(Now this WILL take some time, this is why a fully charged battery is important. Oh yeah, also do NOT listen to what the green bar on the phone says, it is usually wrong. You will know it's done when it says "OKAY" and nothing more happens after that (even after 5 minutes) OR when it brings up an error, usually stated in text such as "FAILED". Whatever happens, I would like you to copy and paste the entire output, starting from fastboot erase cache, down to the very end.)
Good luck!

HELP! rezound took a bath

My wife dropped her rezound in the tub. I did the rice trick, booted into bootloader just fine. When I tried booting to recovery it booted straight to viperrez so I thought all was good. Now when I try to reboot or get to recovery from bootloader it just boot-loops at the splash screen. Can't get to OS.
I tried flashing amon-ra in fastboot, it says"sending recovery" then "FAILED (remote: not allowed)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can I try flashing an RUU?
Also, I can see my device in fastboot but can't find it using "adb devices"

Is your bootloader locked or unlocked? Another way to try is "fastboot boot recovery.img" if it isn't flashing.
Yes, unlocked and s-off. After posting, I tried flashing amon-ra in bootloader. It showed as successful but I still can't get into recovery.
I have to use ADB to flash an RUU correct?
I can't charge the phone either since it powers on and boot-loops when I plug it in

Is it a zip or an exe file? The zip is for flashing in bootloader, the exe you run on your pc.
If you have the global one from Android Police you can rename it to PH98IMG.zip and flash it in bootloader. Here's the link:

Okay, just wanted to let you know that when you run the RUU it goes through the updating twice. It will go through the list you see in hboot and then the screen will go black for a while then it goes back to hboot and goes through updating again. So don't freak out or do anything when it goes black, that's normal.
When it's done it will tell you to reboot.
Thank you, I had forgot about that detail. would've sucked to do a battery pull and F it all up.

Try pulling the boot.img from the RUU and flashing it again separately. I think that happened to me too and that fixed it. I don't know if that would keep you from getting into recovery though.

Did you flash the stock HBOOT then do RUU? I remember that's why mine didn't complete RUU. Also you are not bricked per say.
Make sure you have fastboot drivers installed for the ruu. Just download HTC Sync Manager from their website and they should install with the software. Boot to bootloader and select fastboot mode when the ruu tells you to. You may still get the error with the ruu sadly and I haven't found a definitive fix for this. Also try another usb port on your computer.
If this still doesn't work all is not lost. I haven't done any HTC unlock method with DNA I don't know of one but search that so you can flash a recovery. You may need to do the s-off method again. Hopefully you can do this from bootloader.
Your phone isn't bricked though more technically advanced people will chime in and help you.
Can't flash stock hboot anymore because i did s on too early. That's why the ruu fails. Drivers are fine. Ruu sees the phone and tries to run.

I don't think you need to be in the OS for Moonshine. Have you tried this method? I know it doesn't use adb, because I didn't even have adb set up on the computer I moonshined with, and here I am S-offed, Unlocked, and custom ROMed.
I'm really sorry man, I went through a similar problem with my old Captivate and managed to get it fixed, but the Cappy and DNA are different In almost every way other than both running Android. Really hope you can get it fixed. Couldn't you send it off to J-Tag and have them take a look at it, if all else fails?

unfortunately im not an expert with this stuff. since you're s-on and locked you might be f*cked unless you can fastboot writelockflag 3 or whatever that code is that unlocks you. but i think you have to have s-off for that to work...idk. maybe get on the IRC and talk to beaups or some other dev. if that doesnt work, you're last resort is to send it out for j-tag. sorry man, im out of ideas. good luck

[Q] Droid DNA relocked bootloader now unlocked without htcdev

I thought I would make this post so that others may help me understand what may have happened and also so that others can learn from what happened and to not be confused as much as I was. now I had flashed a kernel with sweep2wake and well phone wouldn't boot up. nothing. just lights flashing at the bottom and a black screen. also I made nandroid backups with cwm 6.0.4.5 and transferred the files to my computer to save up on space for music. however I couldn't figure out how to transfer the files back to the dna through recovery. wouldn't read or anything. so I ended up having to download the ruu file and had to relock the bootloader in order to do what was necessary. after it was all done flashing I tried to unlock my bootloader through htc developer site but of course that didn't work for me. I tried at least ten times but it kept saying MID not supported or something like that. so an idea popped in my head and since I had software 3.06 then I can just try rumrunner again as if it was the first time unlocking. ran it and it did its work and told me its unlocked. rebooted to bootloader but the bootloader still had " RELOCKED" status but I still had s-off. so I decided to install rom manager and interestingly I had flashed cwm successfully. downloaded a rom with gapps and installed and voila!!! booted and was running on custom rom. but the bootloader status still shows "RELOCKED". Any ideas? also do anybody know roms that can effectively use the sweep2wake function? tried it on 3 different roms but same thing where dna dosnt boot
When you ate s-off, you do not need unlocked hboot. If you ever want it unlocked again or for it to say "locked", check out Scotty's thread. There is recovery (cwm or twrp) flashable zips for that.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was in the same boat as you and even thru fastboot I couldn't get any commands to flash CWR to work or fastboot oem unlock. I just installed rom manager and flashed it and it worked perfectly.
This should be a sticky. I've searching all day to try and figure how to get a recovery loaded back on my phone after I did a relock and RUU on my DNA. This seemed way too simple to be true but sure enough I've CWM and a custom ROM back on my phone. Kudos to you for figuring this out!

Flashify enabled me to install TWRP but still says relocked bootloader.
I relocked to perform RUU then ota 4.4.2 Kit Kat. Firewater wouldn't work to re- unlock bootloader.
Does this mean I'm stuck with a relocked bootloader and will need to use flashify from now on?

Sorry, I am S-off & relocked. I realize unlocking with S-off isn't needed but it annoys me all the same.

I've same screen content(s-off, relocked, same content) but I don't have the original token from htcdev. How can I re-unlock? If s-off and no need to re-lock, then how can I flash new rom(current is stock 4.1.x), using recovery? BTW, I bought the phone, so don't know the previous work done by the owner. Thanks for your help!!!

Help me to update to 4.4.2!

I have done a foolish work hence my phone not running beyond the boot screen htc logo. rebooting there itself.
As i was unable to flash the OTApkg.zip, i tried fastboot method. There i stuck with the signature error.
With curiosity i opened the OTApkg.zip and found firmware zip there. I flashed the firmware zip. it went fine in fastboot mode.
(fastboot oem rebootRUU, fastboot flash zip firmware.zip).
after this my phone status as below.
After flashing the latest firmware came with First OTApkg.zip Second OTApkg.zip)

You may be out of luck, due to the process you decided to do.
But out of curiosity, have you tried selecting apply from phone storage?
I don't recall if the stock recovery looks there for the emulated sd/internal storage files or not.
It may be that is the case and it's looking for a physical sd card when you select sd card from the menu.
If that isn't the case or doesn't help, I'm sorry.
Just thought it's worth trying if you haven't.

After that you can update to whatever you want. (Stock or custom rom)

thanks but Im already on HBOOT 1.57 S-On so I can not downgrade!
I suggest you unlock your phone through fastboot usb. then, you install custom recovery. in that manner you can flash again the KK update

How to unlock the phone through fastboot?
htc dev unlock method is not working anymore.. is there any other unlock method which doesn't need abd and works on fastboot connection?
use rumrunner or moonshine. its your call..
theres no other way. all exploits run through adb and fastboot mode.

Have you tried the ruu in this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49480720
You still have fastboot working, which is all you need for that. Just use the latest ruu posted there and follow the instructions. That should at least get you a usable phone.
After that, if you want to unlock it use firewater s-off. I haven't used it, so I couldn't walk you through it, but the instructions are on the website.
