Sense 5
Edit: I lied. 20 max there too

I'm sure the messaging app can be edited to make the limit larger. I may look at the sense 5 one later tonight.

First off im a complete HTC nood, never used sense before, and never had to use an SMS app because every other phone I owned had a pretty decent messengin app preloaded... Not so much the case here huh?? Does anyone know how to turn the stock SMS off without rooting? Is there a way? I'm trying to use handcent or how ever you spell it and I'd like to only have that app notify me when I get a text...
TIA

Is there any way to remove the sms limit of the stock sms app? It makes me can't store sms more than 999

Maybe one of these --------->
https://market.android.com/search?q=sms+backup&so=1&c=apps
Simple search to provide these results.
I have using this for back up,but the phone still don't keep more than 999 SMS. I want to keep it there and don't delete.

Can I ask why? If it's info I need to keep I usually note to self it.

Got same problem here.
I don't know why it has 1000 limit. In my previous android phone (Motorola Milestone 1 and Nexus S), all of them can go to default SMS app and set it to unlimit. However, I can't set it by using the default SMS app on my Atrix. In the setting of the default SMS app, it shows that the number of each thread is limited to 1000. It is not allow me to set unlimit or more than 1000.
P.S. My Atrix is ME860. Is there some different with MB860?
Just want to keep the record, not info

I tried messaging app with a longer text message and it converts it to MMS. How do I disable this one? Can't seem to find it under messaging settings.

This +1
Can't figure this one out. I think its as soon as the text become over 3 text lengths worth it converts to MMS.
I hope we could find a way in solving this. I'm not really used in abbreviating words that's why my messages would reach more than 3sms.

Why does my mms keep going to my gmail? Does anyone know how to change it to go to my text messaging? Thanks

Details would help, are you using a stock rom or custom, stock messaging or third party, are you using Google voice, if so did you select full integration?
I'm using tranquility ics stock messaging
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Well I was hoping you would say Google voice, they forward mms to Gmail. I don't know what could cause it other then maybe having mms forward to Gmail from your account address. Last I checked sprint was getting rid of the personal account address for picture mail though

Did you look in general settings in messaging app? There a setting there to forward to emails or another number.
I've never noticed that, right there in general settings, good to know
Yes I have google voice. I selected full integration. Is that why mms is coming in to gmail ?

check your settings on google voice, check the native messaging app as well just to make sure that one isn't fowarding them. If you still can't, just go to gmail and create a folder for mms and tell gmail to route all the mms to that folder and it should kill any email notifications
For the who are on ATT, using ChompSMS, the MMS feature did not work for some. There was an app update this morning and it fixed the MMS. No more having to revert to the stock messenger!
