Hi guys, I have a problem with video on my E3D... If I want play some 1080p video it tells me, that the video is not possible to play. I tried MX player and if I choose some 1080p video, it is laggy. I can choose between decoders s/w - video is laggy, h/w - can not play video, h/w+ can not play video.
My rom is RootBox - JB 4.2.2
Please help
This is a common problem with all JB rooms

I get this too on JB Roms
Because we do not have the source code for the evo 3d, a lot of things are rather unavailable on a jb rom, such as 3d camera and hardware acceleration. If you want fully working hw acc in movies to play 1080p movies, you should use an ics rom. But then again, i fail to see why you would need so much quality video on your phone screen, especially since its resolution is actually a bit under 720p, and it would be impossible for you to notice any difference between 720p and 1080p on your phone screen, yet the size difference is huge (disk space used)
Thank you guys, today i tried 1080p video in format mp4 and it worked... Again, tank you for explain

Hello,
When i try to play a video in HQ i get that "video can not be played" error :S heeelp.
Doesn't seem to be a fix for this so far AFAIK, because I have seen many post this issue, but no solutions yet. Which ROM?
Hello,
i'm using CM7 and it is also so.
I cant playing HD Video on Youtube.
HQ is not equivalent to HD. The Wildfire is obviously not capable of playing HD videos because of its extremely low screen res (No point in playing HD) and slow processor.
Hq means video with resolution of 640x360 & wildfire can only handle upto 480x320

Hi there, I been searching around regarding this HD Video playback issue but till now there are just like half half situation. Some people claimed their device can run smoothly for 720P video but some said can't, therefore I would like to ask about this question again.
I have tried out few HD trailer in 720p mp4 format, coded in h.264. My result was out of 10 720P video I tried, only 2-3 able to play smoothly in my x10i, the rest will either have video lagging or require soft-decoding which will cause in video lagging as well. In short, my x10i can't play 720P well.
I have another solution in hand which is converted them still into h.264 but in resolution of 854*480, and all of these converted video worked fine. Just wondering if most of the x10i user able to play 720P video smoothly or not since conversion requires some times... Also wish to know is it the real hardware constraints for x10i to play HD video or only my device having some processing problem...
Nevertheless thank you for your answer and opinion =)

hmm that's weird, I played HD on my phone perfectly fine, didn't lag at all maybe you need to try different video players, there's some one that play HD/MKV on the market but there is no point playing HD on a non-hd screen.

I tried moboplayer, rockplayer, vplayer. They all won't able to play it smoothly, neither hard-decoding nor soft-decoding. Hmm your video size is 1280*720 or above? As far as I concerned 480P already consider as HD and my phone is able to play them well as well.
I understand there is no point playing HD on x10 screen, but all my video source are in HD format and I would like to figure out x10i capabilities in HD playing so it may save me some time doing video conversion

+1.Indeed
But give mx player or Dice Player a try they are a bit smoother.
use mx player
The built in video player seems to work fine with all my 720p HD videos.

Im having some trouble transcoding and im not sure if its the Evo 3D having issues, or if its the way its been transcoded (settings or the program itself).
The videos play fine on the Evo 3D screen, but when i use the MHL out and stock app to playback the video, its jerky...some parts lag and stutter. Ive tried numerous settings, 720p, 1080p, average bit rate (1500-5000), constant quality(20-30).
Ive tried using Handbrake 0.9.4 and 0.9.5 and neither has an effect on the issue.
Just to be clear, im not trying 960x540 because i want it to be at least 720p for the HDTV. My Evo 4G played some of these files fine. Im wondering if this is an issue caused by the Evo 3D using mirroring instead of an app controlled HDMI out.
Anyone having any luck encoding 720p or higher video for the Evo 3D without any issues on TV out?
hi
i'm trying to run 720P movies on my device, and unfortunatly their not running smooth at all...
at first i had no sound, so i downloaded a codec pack. it helped and now i can hear but it's still very laggy.
I don't want to start d/ling every codec pack on the market until it'll run smooth...
anyone knows what's the proper codecs for this device?
thanks

What type of 720P video is it? Perhaps it's your SD card not reading fast enough. The Quallcomm SOC is capable of playing back 1080P videos with no issues, so I'm not sure why 720P video is choppy.
Are you playing back in Software or hardware mode? Have you tried moboplayer on it?
well
i was playing from the devices memory, not an external SD. so its not that.
i dont know what software/hardware modes are
but i tried V player and it works ok for now. thanks
720 and 1080 both record and play back beautifully for me.

Use your PC to Rip em and convert them to mp4, then copy the mp4's to your Jetstream. It's not the most straight forward thing so you may have to google whenever you get stuck.
This ought to get you started though... http://lifehacker.com/230349/rip-dvds-with-vlc

DL the MX Movie player app and then use SW decoding.
EDIT - recently installed vlc and when I select a movie it gives the option of playing with the native gallery movie player even though they don't show up when you open the gallery. Great picture and allowed for SRS AND 5.1 sound.
Mobo player does the job for me
Hello guys .
So this is what I want to do...
I often view my movies and animes on my Nexus 5.. But sometimes , when I try to play those videos on my ipod 4g or HTC desire C .. The wont play smoothly.. I do know it has something to do with hardware limitations on low end devices.. but I think its pretty unfair for these devices to not play atleast an SD 480p stream smoothly!
I have seen this feature in the MX player called "Enable Hardware acceleration.."
I don't know what it does , but selecting that option on my HTC desire C makes the videos a bit smoother but still the 480p videos wont play properly ... I tried reducing/increasing bitrates and codecs too (mostly H.264/XviD). But still no improvement.
I have my phone rooted too.
So is there any way to make 480p videos work on desire C and similar devices?
I would be really interested to work on it like a project which may target an app or some tweaks with the hardware itself?

Hi, i see your HTC Desire C's a single core cpu with 600mhz, so it might be hardcore for playing a minimum of 480p video. Personaly, i would go with VLC for Android Beta, use the hardware acceleration option, the exclusive headset remote control (because you have a HTC phone), Force Video Chroma as YUV (Android 2.3 +) and no deblocking. I would sugest to overclock your cpu to it normal rate (seem 800mhz from system on chip info) and only download 480p or 360p video in 8bit. When you open your video in vlc for pc, if the info of the video say 10bit, it will not work and you will need to force reboot your phone). I was using an iphone 3GS and i personaly was reencoding my video with an open source software and it was working (handbrake i think ?). If you plan to buy a new phone in the near future, dual core can run 1080p video in 8bit and quad core seem to run 720p in 10bit, I hope it will help you.
