I'm going to order the padfone tablet dock when its released to check and see if by default the razr ics webtop will automatically recognize the touchscreen. if so, i will modify the case for my RAZR. I'm sure since ics supports different resolutions, a generic dock should be released as an accessory for all ics devices. If the kernel needs to be modified to use the dock, hopefully someone will create a ROM with the mod. Ubuntu os with webtop is a flop idea, too slow and troublesome. Redirect effort towards this type of realization. One device, all form factors.

Funny enough i was talking about this idea 2 days ago, I want to get a closer look at a padfone tablet section so i make it work with the ravr or us the idea to make a mold for the razr.
Problem is i dont think it's going to make it to the UK but i'll keep you all posted if i get my hands on it.
Bit of a nooby question :silly: but i can't find the answer anywhere (or a straight one as i keep finding missing details). Does anyone one have a current full list of all phones that legitimately support the webtop application?
Any help would be appreciated regarding this.
Any Motorola smartphone with 1GB of RAM and HDMI output, there may be more but this should cover most if not all.

Atrix 4G
Atrix 2
Verizon
Droid Bionic
Droid Razr
Droid 4

On Gingerbread Webtop is Ubuntu running on top of Android, but Webtop under ICS is just ICS in tablet mode.
Canocial/Ubuntu are working on their own version of Webtop that developers may be able to integrate into ROMs for any device someday once source code is out.
Who is willing to help me on this project .

I think it is only information about that software for Motorola RAZR (eg MotoCast) system operates on Windows 8
And no information about the fact that this system will be installed on RAZR phone
I know this , I am wondering if we can possibly do this , I'm a developer from OV and I just got a RAZR last week and I might just make a Windows 8 Based ROM
I know nothing of developing or anything but I'll sure test for you. Keep me updated.

I keep any new for Razr as welkome, but sincerously i'll never and never put Win* on my devices.
I think the key would be any base rom or built from any source which is already available and then build a Windows 8-styled launcher on it.

I'd like to see such a big development on my lovely RAZR! I'm not a developer, but how are you gonna make the divers compatible with wp8?

I believe it is very tough to do on the razr
Razri is the perfect answer for this kind of dev

Moved To Q&A
Feel free to post in the dev section when any development begins. Before that, this belongs in the Q&A section as its more of a request.
All i see here is that Razr is compatible with Windows 8, not Windows PHONE 8
i am running the windows 8 rtm enterprise edition good for 90 days, Motocast works as does adb and all. The only drivers i cant find are the mz600 flash while in the bp hw diag & boot ap mode. But in all fairness i cant find those even for windows 7 pro.
wp8 on razr
If you're developing wp8 for the razr, I would certainly like to try it out. Good luck.:good:
That's not what's happening. The question asks "Does Windows 8 work with your device?" not "Can you run Windows 8 on your device?" - it's a compatibility page for hardware to see if the hardware will work on a PC (or device) that is running Windows 8, so yes, you can use your RAZR on a Windows 8 device and it will work like it should (whether it's MTP storage, Mass Storage, Motocast, etc).
Ok so why did the person in the third post say he wants to build a windows based rom for the razr

guys i found a thread here talking about the tool that converts win 8 to a flash micro sd card installation disk type..
it was talking about this mighty RAZR fortunately.. i was searching about it and found that win 8 (NOT WP/WindowsPhone 8) can finally work smoothly on RAZR i..cause in that thread we found that win 8 needs these types of CPU (AMD or Intel & etc..) not Tegra or cortex or any other
CPU chipsets..for complete discovery about this thing i've recently tested this micro sd type (like the one i made with win8 rom with guide of XDA)
and found this:
Wintouch Q series tablets: not working cause of cortex CPU
piere cardian tablets: not working cause of cortex CPU
amazon kindle fire: not working cause of snapdragon CPU
motorola xoom: not working cause of tegra CPU
apple ipad 1: not working again
BUT!!!!!!!!!!!:
MSI windpad series: working completely
Viewsonic viewpad 10 (my tablet ) : working completely and dual Os with android 4.0.4
HP tablet PC series (pavillion i think): worked completely even the dual Os type
so therefore this means amd and intel atom CPU's can took up our dream to real and we can have the windows 8 (PC version on Motorola RAZR i cause of intel atom CPU with 100% sure)
im in iran right now and im working well with lots of cellphone types like motorola-HTC-samsung-Blackberry-vertu-apple & etc but i've recently found a chinise cellphone in our famous mall (ALA'EDIN) that had the windows 8 on it (i dont know the CPU brand but im sure it was not the Intel or AMD or something else cause i asked from seller) so keep searching and working on this thread and make it UP!
I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I moved on to another phone a while ago. But I have always loved my Atrix... Has anyone ever thought about seeing what kind of linux unit our phones could be? I mean, minimal phone code & use both processors for Ubuntu or whatever popular arm linux is available.
My main deal here is that the phone w/ the lapdock has always been an awesome wifi terminal. I just feel like half of it's processor is wasted running the phone UI. Anyone have any plans for a full linux Atrix project?
& yes, I already have ubuntop on my Atrix & have had it since it came out.
& yes, I know Canonical has already stated they are working on Ubuntu for phones, but the stench of their Vaporware is hurting.
It all comes down to the kernel. With the limited support we have for our device, it's hard enough trying to run android on the thing (ICS); an operating system which is "native" for phones, it'll be that much harder to port desktop Linux. Standard Linux kernel is starting to come with android stuff, but it's still going to need device specific patches.
Now if ubuntu comes out with a universal arm/tegra kernel, that would be kind of amazing.

hi there
i have droid razr gsm phone and planning to take a lapdock have few questions
1. which lapdock model should i take ? why ?
2. will the lapdock allow me to watch xbmc through my mobile ???
3. i have jellybeans on my droid razr so if i connect to lapdock what mode it will show on lapdock ???
4. can i chat on whatsapp through my lapdock ??
5. shall i take a lapdock or a cheap tablet what will u recommend ???
thanks & regards
Cheap tables are bad... dont bother with them. The lapdock makes sense if you are going to use it for typing. The OG lapdock looks better, has better battery life, but the typing experience isnt as good as the 100 or 500, those are crafted from plastic as the OG is magnesium(or aluminum).
From what I've read JB works fine on the lapdock(same webtop 3.0 as ics), keep in mind other JB motorola phones no longer support lapdock, the picture is cramped.
Ofc you can use any app with it, and in CM roms you have alot of languages and keyboard localizations.
