[Q] Stock SMS App Keeps Crashing - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I've been searching for a while now and decided I should just post my question finally. I have the Galaxy SIII, rooted, running CM10 stable. For the last 3 months or so, my stock SMS app, Messaging, has been randomly force closing and crashing. The only way to fix it is by rebooting the phone. I've tried re-flashing the mod 5 times, and even wiped data and done 2 factory resets. Still no luck.
And more recently my stock "phone" app has been doing it too. It crashes when I open up the dial pad and drops calls randomly and I have to restart my phone for it to work again.
Both of these will happen randomly. Sometimes I can go 4 hours without having to restart my phone, other times I have to restart my phone every 20 minutes. It's really starting to bug me.
Is there an app that's known to cause these crashes? Or is there a possibility that the mod file is corrupt? Thoughts? Questions? Any help is appreciated!!

Stock but you say you flashed the mod .
CM 10 Discussion post is the place to ask .
Do you actually have an I9300 as per this forum ??

SGS2 phone/dialer app issues

Does anyone ever have issues with the phone/dialer app?
If I try to call someone from contacts, I swipe on their name to the right and nothing happens, if I try again, I notice the contacts app has frozen OR I try to swipe again and nothing happens again. Eventually it might work after 2 or 3 goes.
Then I'll hang up after finally getting it to make the call and the phone immediately tries to make the calls I tried to make earlier... This happens fairly often but not all the time.
OR – (this happens rarely but does happen)
Phone rings, try to swipe the green answer thingo and it just bounces back to where it was, try to swipe/answer again nothing. I can't answer the call. Happened today, really pissed me off. Phone app crashed and refused to make a call after that for about a minute.
Sound familiar to anyone?
Using Android 2.3.5 Vodafone (Australia) stock unrooted.
Anyone?
Would love some help on this.
Yes I am facing the same issues as you.
A few observations:
problems exist on stock dialer app as well as third party dialer apps
It's an intermittent problem i.e. sometimes the problem shows and other times it does not
I was facing the same problem a couple months ago too, since i was running 2.3.3 so i had just upgraded to 2.3.6 and the problem had disappeared. But out of the blue it has again started now while i am running 2.3.6
Currently i am running on stock rom, cf rooted, latest modem.
Am looking for a permanent solution and will post a solution if i find one, in any case hope the official ICS release (due on the 15th) should solve the problem anyways.
Anyone else facing the same problem?
Updates
Usually clearing the cache and calvik cache does not help resolve the issue.
After posting the above post I had just created a ClockWork mod backup and Restored to the same. Dunno how but that resolved the issue, or to be exact, the issue did not surface for a couple days.
Today the issue actually became too much for me to be able to handle.
So I again cleared both cache and dalvik cache and then fixed permissions via CLockWork recovery menu.
Since then I am not facing the issue yet. Hope it works for you too.
(But this is just a preliminary observation and maybe the issue shall resurface with long term use)
p.s. really hoping that the impending ICS update will permanently fix said issue.

Have a Stock S3. hardly any applications installed.just the regular, skype, viber, whatsapp etc. today, it started giving com.android.phone crashed error. on EVERY call. i read somewhere that facebook might be the culprit but even after uninstalling it, it worked for 2-3 calls then started crashing again. I've read that restore to factory defaults does not help neither does wiping the phone off. A while ago i had the same problem and i fiddled a lot with it like installing wake lock app and other stuff and it did work for a good few days before i had to restart my phone and it was back to normal(not working!!) state!!
Can u guys please gimme a complete solution? Ive been having this problem since forever and this is really irritating not able to receive messages on time.

[SOLVED] Phone gets FC on incoming calls

Hey everybody.
My girlfriend is having a terrible problem with her new Xperia Go. It's running the latest Stock Firmware and Kernel without Root and every time she gets an incoming call, the phone won't react for about 15 seconds and then a FC Popup appears. This happens as soon she tries to answer the call. We rebooted it and it worked as it should after a fresh boot, but as soon she uses apps like Whatsapp, Facebook and so on, the problem persists and it's kinda of frustrating. A smartphone should be able to handle those things and she's really disappointed. Thinks I've tried:
-Clear data and cache of Contacts and Phone.
-Hard Reboot
-Recently installed the latest update via OTA (I hoped the problem would get fixed, but unfortunately it's still there)
-Tried using the stock launcher since she uses Nova Launcher
If someone has got an idea of what's going on please reply this post. I don't know if I should root her phone or maybe install a custom ROM. Honestly I wouldn't like to do that since she's a Noob in Android and basically in Technology Stuff. But if that's the solution, I would do that. It's really frustrating.
Thanks! Hope anybody could help
EDIT: SOLVED!
I tried to limit the background processes in developer settings and set the maximum to 4 processes and it magically solved the problem!

AOKP 4.3.1 latest release

Hey everyone. I want to apologize in advance if I'm posting this in the wrong section (not permitted to in the development until I have more than 10 posts).
I have a Galaxy Note I717 and installed the latest AOKP rom running android 4.3.1. The phone runs relatively stable however after it was installed for about a day the bluetooth would beginning to flicker on and off every so often. Along with the bluetooth flickering on and off the keyboard to send a text, search, etc. would not stay open. It would open for a brief second and then close immediately.
There are many solutions to resolve this issue.
- reinstall the rom
- wipe dalvik cache
- wipe system/cache
After doing all these different procedures the phone is still having issues. The phone is occasionally reboot on its own and the keyboard keeps giving me the same issue. Sometimes I'm able to mess with the input method and the keyboard will stay open but then it begins to close immediately after thirty minutes or a few minutes.
Please if anyone can help it would be awesome to actually get this resolved. Each rom I've installed on my phone has had some kind of issue (bluetooth, speaker echo, constant phone reboots, sluggish performance after a day or so (this happened on Liquidsmooth 2.25), etc)
Thanks to anyone who has some insight on this.
