Hi,
I have been trying to flash CWM recovery using every possible means. I have tried MTK Uncle tool and have even tried SP Tool. both process completes and gives success report but when i restart the phone by pressing Vol UP button it enters into Factory Mode not recovery.
Reason i want to install CWM recovery is to get the phone nandroid backup and install some old ROM as the ROM which i have is 4.1.9 and has so many bugs in it. even it cant sync my google contacts and calender.
Please guide me why my phone is not getting recovery installed even after completing the whole process without any error and get OK report at the end as well but when first time it is asked to reboot into recovery it gives a blank screen and when we do that again after replacing the battery it enters into factory mode.
Details of Phone are
BB Chip : MT6575
MS Board : GT-i9300
Modem Ver: MAUI.11AMD.W11.50.SP.V20 2012/11/09 09:33
Built Time : 2013 / 02 / 18
UBoot Ver : 2010.06
Kernel Ver: 3.0.13 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #2 PREEMPT Tue Feb 19 09:27:09 CST 2013
Android Ver: 4.1.9
SW Ver: ALPS.ICS.MP.V2.6
Custom built Verno. : 1361175260
I say again i want to downgrade to some old version like 4.0.4 which has least number of bugs.
Thanx

Yes i have tried both. Rom Manager reboots me into a blank screen from which i have to come out by removing battery and by pressing volume down button it again gives me blank screen
This maybe happening due to the recovery not supporting your device. I have seen this issue around mainly with knock off/clone devices. As for bugs well even down grading may not fix the bugs.
That black screen is RECOVERY MODE
download recovery manager from play store and flash recovery.img
110% works on every device
Then try to reboot to recovery by same app or by rom manager.

Tried recovery manager... on first installation it showed no recovery installed i tapped on flash CWM recovery a popup appeared displaying downloading recovery... but it remains on 0% and suddenly it vanished at 0% and a black popup appear saying recovery flashed but still not visible in recovery colomn... and even if i do reboot into recovery mode same blank screen with nothing visible and if i restart by removing batter and open recovery manager it again says no recovery installed
What about preloader.... if i flash some other preloader but offcourse compatible to my model will that make any difference ?
Download the apk below.
http://db.tt/C7rlqTu1
1.Click on recovery in app menu.
2.There click on install recovery.
wait for some time, while app search for all .img files on your sd card.
3.Then click on recovery image you want to install.
4.Let app install recovery when installing comes and then message will come
"current recovery: unrecognised"
5.Now click on reboot into recovery in app.
And you will be in recovery after some time.

This is Rahul S Nair talking in behalf of Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro development (qualcomm blooded device).. I m a dev working for this device for creating a cwm... I successfully found a suitable method to root it formely.. But when we reached to cwm level we found that the device is not at all taking custom recoveries .. even a moded stock recovery is not being showing up.. whenever custom recovery flashes it ll give a black screen and reboot... after a long investigation we figured that this device have a locked bootloader.. Is it possible for you to unlock this guy....

Sorry to bump an old thread
I'm having the exact same problem.
Rooted the 8180 with SuperOneClick, installed Rom Manager, from Rom Manager installed CWM 8160 version with sucess, and whenever trying to boot into recovery mod the phone just hangs while showing the hourglass icon.
I tried reflashing the CWM and it still hangs
Im still running the stock firmware/rom
Can you share how you solved this problem?
Hi, I had a similar issue and did a reboot in to the CWM by holding power, volume up and the "search button" (?) the right one any way. Then did a wipe/factory reset.

So you could only boot into CWM by pressing power+volume+search? The regular way (power+volume) would lock up like it does to me, is that it?
Anyway I tried your key combination and it still freezes...

Hi,as for the fastboot instructions - I've found this to be a great help in getting adb and fastboot to work on my Win7 x64 installs,so you might want to give it a try. Also,I'm gonna upload in a bit the earlier recovery + recovery manager (if you want to try that before you play around with adb/fastboot) to flash it to your device + the device drivers.
Edit - The link for the file - http://ubuntuone.com/14mi7lUkJelsrNBr4z5Uy2 - 12.5 MB - contains the older recovery (you can still try to flash the newer one first if you want), 2 different driver packs and the aforementioned recovery manager.

Thank you! Im trying recovery manager as I type this, I find it curious it says "Currently installed recovery: unrecognized"
As for the driver, I already had it installed from when I rooted the phone.
EDIT: So I installed the up to date recovery (recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-u8160) with Recovery Manager, still unrecognized and still freezes after booting into recovery.
Installed the one you supplied (ClockworkMod-u8160-v0.1) and got the exact same results, unrecognized and freeze

In that case you might want to try the doomsday option - fastboot (not really, hell - it's actually rather useful + if you follow that website you also get adb up and working too). As for the 'unrecognized' alert,I remember getting it too once upon a time, but I have to admit - I haven't used the app myself since when I made the jump from the stock 2.2.1 ROM to a custom froyo build,so I can't recall for the moment what I did to fix that error

Will do. Besides the fastboot recovery command what else do I need to do from the phone side?
Does fastboot display any feedback or log about the flashing/installation?

Nothing specific -you just have to reboot in fastboot mode (just restart the phone while pressing Power and Volume Down. Windows should chirp and install the drivers automagically - afterwards just use that command discussed earlier and it should flash your recovery without any additional prompts (it should only print out a confirmation of a successful flash) and you should have the CWM ready to go
Edit: I put my device into fastboot mode on a clean Windows install (a Win8 Consumer Preview) and it did autodetect and install the relevant driver without restarting itself
No luck... Now it's driver issues
When booting the phone with either the vol up or down pressed and pluging in the USB my PC isn't recognizing the driver, I used both drivers you sent me.
Initially it's detected as Android 1.0 device, upon fetching the drivers it gets named "Android Sooner Single ADB Interface".
As I refresh device manager it goes back to Android 1.0 with an exclamation mark.
I think it's a driver signature issue, I'll try again in a couple of hours in a different PC
edit:in debug mode I have no driver issues and I can even detect my phone with ADB
Finally!
Tried it in another computer, auto downloaded some ASUS adb driver and installed fine.
Flashed latest CWM recovery with fastboot and now I'm able to boot into CWM!
Thank you so much for your help!
Sry for bumping.
So, i had the same trouble with the drivers. But i just downloaded HiSuite directly from the Huawei Site and these fix my problem with drivers to use adb without troubles . Hope this help someone.
BTW, Thanks bk109!

well i am saying that be sure to enable usb debugging in future for the time just use the method to revive your phn back ,when ur phn is on just be sure usb debugging is enabled and than flash recovery using any method u r comfortable with, use the lgmdp method its safe and kdz flashing is used the shaking method when the phn is in dead condition as ur phn boot to lg logo so the lgmdp method will work even the kdz but the later one is bit risky.
Get lgdmp (firmware flasher) on PC

Disable LG modem
Device manager -> modems
Go to emergency mode first.
For that:
Power off phone (even if by taking out battery) -> keep press volume up+back button and press power button.
Now u will enter emergency mode
In lgdmp click select port
Phone will be detected automatically -> press connect
Close the pop-up window that shows to select image file
Backup NV

Link: http://*******/5v3tT
Unzip the downloaded recovery into a folder
Open the extracted folder as the image folder in lgdmp
It will show some errors. Don't mind and just close the image selection window
Now press download in main window of lgdmp
It will flash recovery to the phone
After its complete u can boot to recovery by keycombination menu + volume down when pressing power button
Hope it will help

So just boot into fastboot mode and flash CWM 5.0.2.0 via fastboot method

Most probably he will be confused like hell by seeing all those answers like
Go for lgmdp no go to kdz no phone bricked ma money oh GOD.. :banghead:

Completely switch off your phone
Press Power + Home button
It will boot into fastboot mode and then just follow the method as shown on the thread (link that you mentioned)
Make sure to download 5.0.2.0 CWM recovery image from here
Two things that i wanna advise you about
1) Read that thread very carefully, understand what you are doing and follow each and every command.
2) Make sure to rename the download *.img file to recovery.img
Note that .img is the extension and not to be included in name
I'm sure this will help
Once done, type in fastboot reboot and wait for the phone to boot to the previous instance, where the phone was before this happened
Avoid using 5.0.2.7; its buggy

Ok, let's troubleshoot some more
When you connect thru usb, does the pc picks anything up? There are ways to check....via the command adb devices in cmd (make sure you have SDK installed), if it says "no devices detected" you should check the devicemanager to see if there's an unknown driver found (they usually pop out the tree with an ! behind it.

Hello arcsuser,
Thanks for your help,
I have downloaded the zip file as proposed.
unfortunately I was not able to install it because I don't have the root access on my tablet.
If there is a way to install the zip file without the recovery mode I'd be glad to know it.
if not, I will have to go through the process.
thanks again for your help.
let me know if there is a way without the root mode
:good:

U want to install it without root, i dont think thats possible,
Anyway have you try installing it as a normal apks? If it still doesnt install then i guess you really have to be rooted..
How about, get root, install apps, then unroot.. I dont think the apps are affected. Im not sure just give it a try

Actually I have now the same question than "OP" on the recovery mode. I have now rooted the device the "super user app" is available and activated.
but I still can't access the recovery mode. I have tried the key combination mentioned in your post to "OP". then I referred to the post from DooMLoRD "All the info you need before you begin" with the Xperia Z tablet where the recovery mode is described.
I have the sony screen displayed, then I press volume up, the boot is going the normal way.
I tried with the usb cable connected to the PC, then it goes directly to the Xperia logo.
I tried the normal reboot (one light falshing) and the hard reboot (3 lights flashing) I do not have the device vibrating like explained by DooMLoRD.
Is this the reasn ?
thanks for your help again.

did you spam the volume up?
our tablet will not vibrate because DooMLoRDs links is actually for phone that ALSO works for XTZ..
You said you're rooted but still cant go to recovery.. HHmmmm..
Do you have the recovery installed? cause if not it will not work
you can install it Here
if you are rooted and the recovery is installed.. then nothing can go wrong

I have downloaded and tried unsucessfully to flash the recovery tool.
I couldn't access the flash mode as described in the basics from DooMLoRD.
“while device is power OFF
Volume Up + USB cable connected to PC -> FASTBOOT MODE (BLUE LED will light up)“
I'm afraod I will need some tutorial to go through the steps of fast boot...
thanks
You don't need recovery to install the apps if you have root. Just unzip the file using root explorer. The unzipped file will show from the structure where the files have to go so just copy them to the corresponding folder on the tab using root explorer. (apps, and their associated odex file if there is one, will usually be in /system/app folder) Don't forget to set the permissions (rw-r--r-- for system apps and odex files), also using root explorer. Reboot and if they're gonna work as system apps they will...

Hello,
thanks for the walk through.
I have followed it step by step and here is the result. my computer (PC windows 7) makes a sound like a usb device is connected but not recognized.
when I connect the tablet in the normal way it is recognized without problem.
do you think I need to install some drivers on the PC as well ?
thanks for your help

Hey yi wei! I also got my xtz in China without any google service. Do you mind telling me how you rooted your device? I couldn't find a tool that roots xtz from China. Many thanks!
how to hard reset my sony xperia tablet z .
Hey , im new here .
My xtz is made in china . I forgot the lock tablet password .
So how could i reset the tablet to unlock my tablet ?? Plss help .
I tried to install a new rom(cynogenmod 11 from xda forums) in my lenovo a6000 which i god a day before on my birthday. it had lollipop os and i installed TWRP recovery in it. but the instructions for installing rom said to clear data. dalvik, cache before installing and the twrp cleared cache and delvik cache but then it had been over 5 min and it still stated -"formatting data by mounting(bla... bla...) method". so i just reboot the phone by removing the battery and booted in the recovery again. i tried to clear them again but this time all of those three stated mounting problems while clearing. i went on installing the rom but it stuck too stating only these lines:-
1>no md5 checksum found.
2>skipping md5 checksum(bla.. bla...).
so i did the same mistake again and removed the battery to reboot but now it just shows the lenovo logo on bootup and nothing happens thereafter except frequent restarts. i tried to connect it to pc to load recovery via minimal adb and fastboot but the phone is just charging itself via usb cable and not connecting to the pc no matter i reinsert the battery.
i dont want to reach the service center or my dad will kill me for damaging a new phone. please if anyone can help then reply soon or i am gonna screwed.
Just press volume - & power key same time , now your phone is in boot loader mode now connect USB & flash twrp recovery through minimal adb method & restore your backup

Oh I somehow figures it out, I pressed all the keys I.e. volumeup + volumedown + power key even after the Lenovo powered by android logo and it suddenly booted into recovery. This method worked in my bq s37 I didnt expected it in this case. BTW thanks for your support and can u please help in in a new case related to same. The twrp recovery for a6000 lollipop is not installing cm11 properly. Every time I install using the same method as mentioned in a post of XDA. After installation it stops on the same screen:- Lenovo (powered by android) and after that no reboot just that screen forever till the battery dies. I even tried cleaning /system before installing cm11 ROM but still no progress. Please help!
You cannot install cm11 on top of stock Lollipop rom
Revert it back to kitkat flash recovery Then install cm11
Get it of one problem and the other awaits. Now when installing KitKat rom (the official one from techotally) it said unable to mount /data. I followed some tutorial which asked to write some codes from adb shell menu. One of the codes said something like -kill recovery, after what my recovery frooze. I restarted the phone by removing the battery but nothing is happening after that. I am trying to restart it in recovery or in bootloader or even normal restart. Everything in vain and nothing is shown on screen and not even boot logo or the lenovo powered by Android screen. But in my pc some drivers started installing out of which two were installed and two weren't please help.
