Just got the gmail update to 4.3 and everytime i access new mail via the notification panel, my phone reboots. I'm running stock rooted ICS w/o any other issues. Anyone else notice this?
I had the same problem. I ended up uninstalling the update and then reinstalling with a regular restart. I'm not sure what exactly fixed it.
I'm also stock ics rooted. It works fine now. Try just restarting (regular restart). If that doesn't work, clear the app data.

just tested it again, and it stopped doing it. must have been one of the reboots. Thanks for the ideas, I'll definitely try a reinstall if it acts up again.
print MYFILE " fi\n";
Thanks that fixed it for me
I have a worst problem:
I upgraded Gmail
I checked the email
The phone restarted.
Since then it keeps restarting again and again...
any idea for solving it?
Thanks in advance!

Already tried it, with no success! I also wiped cache partition.
Now I'm trying to uninstall gmail app using ABD during boot, in the hope to do it before it reboots, but so far I had no luck.
The command I'm using is:
Code:
adb uninstall com.google.android.gm
Do you think it's a feasible way?
EDIT: Is there a way to boot the phone in safe mode? All I found on the internet is how to reboot it into safe mode!
If ur phone is rooted u could install root app delete and try to uninstall Gmail from that
Here's the link"https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=zsj.android.uninstall
After uninstalling the Gmail app if the problem still persists than maybe u could re flash ur rom but most probably the problem will get solved after uninstalling the app..

My problem is that my phone doesn't boot!! It keeps reboot right after the Insert PIN screen appears.
So I have no chance to use the Android GUI.
I tried also booting in safe mode, but the same applies, as soon as the PIN screen appeas, the phone reboots!
Well than I guess u only have one option i.e go to cwm recovery and wipe data/factory reset
Ur phone would b in the condition wen u bought it... Every app u installed will b deleted including Gmail it would of previous version so it will solve ur problem..

I upgraded my galaxy ace to gingerbread 2.3.4 yesterday. i am not able to connect market. it is giving "An error has occurred. Please try again later."
i was not able to login gmail before, but with the youtube gmail login trick worked and now i have connected to gmail.
i am connecting internet through WiFi.
I have done factory reset three times already...
Please help me
NO Answers....? :-( :-( :-(
Used to happen to me for another droid. Don't know the cause. Factory reset probably won't work. Does kies have a repair function to reflash your update?
If u have done it via kies go to samsung customer care near by u......if u have done with odin check that the firmware belongs to ur region.....like if u belongs to asia the upgrade should be from asia....in this case .....gmail login prompts with"unable to establish reliable data connection"....and u will be able to surf internet...but not market(system based apps)....any doubt ask frankly

Try with different sim...
The market version is 2.3.6
i am totally frustrated with gingerbread....i tried with new sim also...nothing working. One more i did the factory reset, now market is asking to login the google account, it is not connecting. It is giving the "can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". After factory reset i checked the language, it was showing English(United Kingdom).
Anybody have solution.....:----(
U try with wifi or just install 3.1.5 manually by using apk.

i have connected with wifi only. is it possible to install the new version without root?
Yup. U can install new market apk without root. U can get the apk by Googling.

i got the market 3.1.5 and installed. Now after loading some time and then "connection timed out - try" is coming.
If i try to connect gmail from browser it giving same kind of error like not able to connect please try again.
U just do a factory reset nd wipe cash

go to market in application and tap on "uninstall update".
It should work now.
And to prevent the market from automatically updating again, anyhow, uninstall "market updater". I used titanium backup to do that.
nothing working i did the factory reset and again started getting "An Error ocurred...". Wiped the cache and unistalled update...nothing working....
i cannot connect to google accounts.....but internet working for other sites like yahoo...etc..
Go to samfirmware.com and download rom for indian ace and flash rom with odin. Everything will b fine.

Hey guys, I can't even use my phone after the official update of the Jelly Bean (via Kies). After booting, the phone freeze almost completely and pop-up this message. Any fix without reseting ? I tried cleaning the cache but the problem isn't fixed
If anybody had this issue, can give me an idea about how to fix it ? Thanks
Try clearing its data in app manager
Nop, can't find it. I tried cleaning most of data but nothing works :/ Damn...is Samsung able to do something without bugs ?
that's why no one uses kies
Factory reset or download an Odin version and flash with Odin

Yeah, I like to root, but not to change the rom Now I need to root again. At least the issues has been solved.
Fixing permissions usually solves that problem barring that a full wipe and start again.

As I got the official update, I lost the root, I tried to clear the cache and as I've seen that is not working and the phone was freezing each 5 seconds I got a bit scared to start rooting it. I wiped it, installed my apps and now everything is ok. However, it's weird that I didn't got the apps automatically installed like it's happened last time when Amazon replaced my S3 for some screen issues (some scratches inside the screen). I just added my google account and everything started installing automatically. Not this time...
just downloaded jelly bean tonight and having this issue. has anyone come up with a solution that does not involve a full hardware restart???
Had same problem after I updated 3 months ago. I think was an incompatibility with an app or something has not updated completely. Fixed it with factory reset.
You can backup apps with Samsung Kies I think if you don't want to lose progress in games, the other stuff is automatically synced

I'm afraid it'll probably have to be a full reset just make sure you've backed up.

Hey Guys,
It may be a long story but anyways: Suddenly, I got yesterday the message "Unfortunately the process com.android-phone has stopped" on my Xperia Sola (JB Experiencev2 , not unlocked), whenever i got in the Settings Menu. So I thougt maybe it will disappear when I'm restarting the phone. Unfortunately, my sola was stock in a bootloop. Through Recovery Menu I tried everything, but it still got the bootloop. People said I had to flash the stock rom, I did it and now it could boot and everything, but I got the message back at the first guide when you start your phone the first time And it won'T go away
How can I solve this ((
I think when I'm trying to rebbot the phone again, there will be a bootloop again
Go to settings/apps and clear contact storage i believe it is.

Did you restore a backup after flashing? This happened to me once when I was using muiu and then flashed JB, and restored using Titanium Backup. I think it restored some files from MIUI which were causing this :S I had to wipe again and flashed JB, and then I didn't restore but had to reinstall all my apps from scratch

Okay, now here is what happened. I flashed the .54 kernel and the firmware and everything seemed to work again. I loaded most of my apps again but then this happened: If I open apps like Facebook, twitter chrome, walkman or the browser they immediately close with the message that the app stopped or some com...phone stopped!? Now can you tell me how I just flash everything to bring it normal. I Just want to use my phone, I don'T care if I have to flash everything, I just want to use it normally again :crying:
Please help me!!!
EDIT: I pressed in the settings back to factory settings and rebootet it and now the messaging starts again:
"Unfortunately the process com.android.phone stopped" !? And I can't close it ! Please help me
When you re flashed did you wipe data?

what about installing the rom again? backup first, then u can restore importand data with titanium
Okay, I flashed just the stock rom again and then everything seemed to work again... I could play all apps and facebook and twitteetc., but then I wanted to change something in the settings on language & input and then it came: "the process com.android-phone has stopped". And most of my apps didn't work anymore like Play store etc. So what do I have to do??? Why is the Rom or something so fu*ked up, please tell me what to do step by step.
And yes i wiped data, i think.
Have you managed to get to contacts/contact storage to clear it yet?

Again, did you restore apps and settings via titanium or any similar program?
com.android.phone process crash
Hello!
My problem was solved with other SIM card .
before this discovery i tried a hardresets , wipes , application cache resets and even few times reflashed it with SEtool .
Shame on me for dumped few hours trying to invent a bicycle
Hope this will help someone further
when i tried to open the 'Location and security' under settings, its gave me an error message saying 'The application Settings(process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again', i have a rooted smartphone and this problem never occured untill now, any suggestions? i am on a rooted gingerbread 2.3.3
Do some work...
1.Go to recovery mode by switch offing the phone and then rebooting into recovery mode by POWER+HOME+VOLUME UP
2.Clear cache.
If problem is not solved u may have to do a Factory Reset & Data Wipe...

Clearing the cache/dalvik cache and fixing permissions should do it. If you have a modded version of the settings.apk such as a theme or whatnot that could very well cause the issue. Good luck!
alright this is wierd, i tried entering into recovery mode but my phone would restart normally instead, i tried installing bootmenu manager but it always gives me a parsing error message(would really fancy a site/place where i can download a correct file app of the same) i nevertheless installed quick boot tool from playstore...entered the recovery mode...cleaned my dalvik cache and fixed the perms as you said and rebooted, and guess what, PROBLEM NOT SOLVED, it still FC on me giving the same error message, anymore suggestions??
also I haven't modded my system files whatsoever although i have uninstalled some preinstalled apps which were not system apps but just simple music, video apps etc, can it be the reason, anyway if i can undelete them, i have no backup of em anymore
P.S.- sorry for any misspelt things
