I just rooted my EVO LTE and am trying to install CM 10. Everytime I do I get a boot loop. I've rebooted multiple times with the same result.
So far backups have been good, but I'd like CM10
I have S-Off, tampered. TWRP is my recovery along with GOO Manager. I tested that I have root and super user with some apps from the Play Store.
I realize that I'm probably leaving a ton of stuff out, but if you have any suggestions or questions please let me know.
Thanks
Before installing cm10.1 are you wiping? Also are you sure you are soff?

I just looked, I am not S-off. I thought that I had run through all the settings, but apparently not. I hate to ask, but how would I go about this if I have SuperUser/root access?
You are going to have to fast boot the boot.img
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Fast boot the boot.IMG via fastboot or use the flash IMG GUI app

Read the thread called "DONT PANIC" stickied in the Q&A section. All the info is there.

After flashing a new rom, I'm not able to get pass my bootloader. Even after restarting the phone, it boots up into the bootloader. Any ideas on what to do to get pass my angry bootloader?
Thank in advance
Did you try getting to recovery from the bootloader, if you can't try installing the recovery again by putting the PJ75IMG.ZIP on your sd card then try again and hopefully it works and you have a backup

Yea, I can get to recovery and even flash a rom to the point it tells me to reboot, but thats it though.
Are you s-on or s-off??

So after you flash a ROM then reboot it goes right to the bootloader? Are you on the latest twrp? Try a stock rom thru the bootloader with a PJ75IMG.ZIP

Did you wipe before flashing the new rom. You should wipe caches, system, and factory reset.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Yes sir, as i always do.
You need to copy the boot.img of the rom you are flashing to your fastboot folder and then fastboot the boot.img
That happened to me a couple of days ago when I was going from mean rom to viper rom.

Thanks alot, I'm trying that now
In case you dont know this is how it goes:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
That should take care of it

Ok, I'm a bit lost on this....lol
After you copied the boot.IMG from the rom folder you are flashing into the fastboot folder, you open cmd if you have windows, cd to your fasboot folder and typed that command to flash the boot.img

Hi
I have a Legend and i have made it S-OFF with htc-dev
now i am trying have it rooted and flash cwm onto it.
when i boot into HBOOT with power + vol- and plugin the usb cable and enters the adb like this:
Code:
C:\legend>adb reboot bootloader
error: device not found
C:\legend>fastboot devices
SH0BTNX04748 fastboot
C:\legend>fastboot flash recovery.img
unknown partition 'recovery.img'
error: cannot determine image filename for 'recovery.img'
C:\legend>
I have tried a number of the guides here and other places on the net, but cant get it rooted or flash cwm.
I am suspecting some error on the Legend, because i cannot even flash the latest update for it:
RUU_Legend_Froyo_S_HTC_WWE_3.15.405.6_Radio_47.51.35.17_7.13.35.05_release_222317_signed.exe

any and all hints and proposalsare welcome in my "quest" to solve this problem.
Happy new year!
You obviously did not fully read the flashing instructions correctly, the flashing command you typed into your post is not compleat or correct.
Hint:-
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Or
Adb shell flash_image recovery recovery.img
Another usefully hint, read this post

Hi Ranger4740
Happy NewYear to you as well (we are in 2013 with almost an hour in denmark by now)
Your Right, I missed some things. My bad.
It seems I cant get it to S-OFF. Only unlocked. and i have HBOOT 1.02
So I tried the fake-flash but as the picture shows it doesnt work either.
signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

I more and more believe that it is going to be retired. I just hoped I could try ICS or JB on it, like I use on my Desire and Sensation.
As noted by me and others in many many threads regarding hboot 1.02 you can't use fake flash you must do the s-off method of clockwork mod recovery.
Do the s-off flashy thing, then you can boot into clockworkmod recovery

I really do need to get better "search skills" in forums. I found the "how to root htc legend" tread and the htc supertool v3 and my (many ugly words) phone still wont do as I ask of it. I put my next question about the tool in there.
So i believe this should the last post from me in this tread.
A lot of thanks to you for help, hints and inspiration
Best regards
Odin

Hboot 1.02 unlocked is pretty the same as S-OFF. Somethimes is doesn't show that, but it's unlocked!
When your done with a thread rename it to [SOLVED] Can't flash CWM so other people can use it and be sure it works. Thanks

Please don't flame me for asking, but i couldn't find instructions anywhere. I know if your s-on and want to flash aosp roms you need to flash the boot img via fast boot. I just cant seem to do it right and end up in the splash screen indefinitely. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
This thread helped me resolve the same issue.

I flashed the boot.img after I installed the rom. I'm not sure if that was the correct way, but it worked for me.
A very simple solution is to download Flash Image GUI, and use it to flash the kernel of the Rom while your phone is still booted and functional. You can do this by opening the app and locating the Rom file, then hit yes to install it to the partition. After extracted, boot into recovery, do your wipes, and flash the AOSP rom. This saves the need for a computer.
Another thing to try is to boot into recovery, flash the rom, let it boot to the boot animation, hard reboot into recovery, and reflash. (This works with Sense roms, but I haven't tried it with AOSP roms yet)
P.S.: I am S-On also
When I was s-on I would flash the rom then boot straight to bootloader, fastboot. USB and flash the boot img. This method always worked for me

Thanks for the help. I found that flashing the boot.IMG first then the ROM works good for me. But I will try the GUI app
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
The GUI application works as advertised but it's handy to be used to using fastboot also. Never know when your gonna need it

One question so when flashing a boot.img I pull it from Rom and fastboot flash. My question is when I do recover flash after do I leave boot image in original zipped Rom folder and recovery flash, or is it not supposed to be in it at all, being I already flashed boot.img via fastboot?

You are probably on the latest firmware and flashed a 3.15 rom, my guess, you need then to flash a 3.16 sense rom, aosp and 3. 15 roms touch screen doesn't work with the newest firmware, if you are s-off you can downgrade it, if you are s-on I suggest you to go to the original development thread and get s-off using baby racoon if your hboot is 2.09... Good luck

Yes, do this. If for some reason it doesn't work because it says device not detected because USB Debugging isn't on you have to do this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=41076144
Download the mini sdk file from that post. Use the instructions there to access fastboot. Then use the command "fastboot erase cache"
I install the all in one tool kit still nothing here the problem when I'm in recovery and try to reboot it says no os found. So I put it in fastboot boot.img fastboot recovery NOTHING I also did a adv sideload from recovery always get an abort message I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!
