H means 3G+. This is the upgraded network from AT&T. It is faster. This is what T-mobile advertises as "4G" although that is not true. So this is normal. You will occasionally drop to 3G in areas where HSPA+ has not been implemented yet.
As for ATT DR, I am not sure what that is. But, I would not worry about it too much. If you are using an AT&T SIM, and have AT&T coverage in your area then you are fine.
just talked to my friend who is an att rep. he said att dr may just be the data gateway for android devices.
Hey you guys has anyone experienced this happening?
After flashing each T-mobile modem individually I can not receive a LTE signal, I can however receive ATT 4G and T-mobile seems to work. After flashing back to the stock ATT modem is when I receive LTE as normal.
I'd appreciate any comments/suggestions/stories about this. Help!
Uhm tmobile doesnt have lte.. it only has hspa + (4g) I wish it did tho...I wish it did
I must have forgotten to mention I am using At&t SIM card and I'm not getting an LTE signal (only 4G) after flashing to the T-mobile modems available to gain T-mobile's 4G/HSPA+
any ideas why I'm not getting Att LTE now?
Oh sorry i misunderstood. Idk man I cant offer much help then. Did you try resetting your apn settings? Also what rom are you on? GB or ICS?
no havent tried that , how do i do that on the gnote?
i'm on GB rom
Its going to be in the settings go to networks and there should be apn in there. These are the APN settings
Well . Here is AT&T 's LTE apn anyways ..

checked it out and the settings were already there. I then reset to default for good measure but with the same result.

i'm scratching my head to read your post OP. You complained that you didn't get LTE signal after you flashed Tmobile modem, but you have LTE when you flashed back to ATT modem and you are using ATT SIM.
I still don't get it why the heck you need to flash Tmobile modem for while using ATT SIM?

I have SIM cards for both carriers but I mostly use AT&T's.
I'm sorry but the T-Mobile and AT&T modems are mutually exclusive. The T-Mobile modems are pulled from other devices that do not have lte hardware. The AT&T modem does not enable the T-Mobile HSPA+ bands. You can't have both. If you honestly use both Sims, keep a copy of each modem and flash whenever you swap.

I appreciate the reply. So you are saying in order for me to receive either, HSPA+ or LTE, that I have to flash back and fourth...
Here is the source of the method I used:
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...e-3g4g-hspa-on-your-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717/
and quote from that tutorial at the very bottom of that page:
"There’s also a hack you can switch bands by dialing *#2263# but you don’t have to do this, just leave it on Auto so you can use both T-Mobile and AT&T SIM cards with one modem. No, you don’t have to flash the AT&T modem back to use AT&T. "
Hey guys,
Recently switched from AT&T to Straight Talk and I have no HPSA+ nor LTE. I just see the H icon (I am on CFXE). I've flashed a bunch of stuff but before the most recent ROM installation I installed the AT&T JB radio (from the radios thread). In addition, a Straight Talk APN appeared automatically which lines up with the values they suggest you put in:
Name: StraightTalk ATT
APN: tfdata
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: APN enabled (grayed out, box checked)
Any suggestions? Anyone on ST have LTE working?
Thanks!
You need to call their customer service, ask to be transferred since you have a being your own device) tell them you need lte provisioned in your lte phone... it took me 4 calls but they finally did it for me... otherwise use the old apn
Also buying a new sim will unlock lte

Yeah I bought my sim back in December but they were able to add it so you should be good.... They will all tell you that they don't offer lte on art Sims then they will tell you to change the apn to the old one... Just be persistent lol most of them are clueless...

Did you make sure that LTE is enabled in Network Mode? For some reason, I change it to GSM/WCDMA/LTE and it changes right back to WCDMA only. I can't figure it out.
Straight Talk has awful customer swervice
That awful customer service is largely why it is so inexpensive.

Straight talk like net 10 which I am on are similar try to use an Att straight talk sim you won't even have to unlock the phone and you will also get LTE as I am.

I also was thinking about getting a g3 from Verizon to use with T-Mobile. I was wondering if you had to unlock it or did it automatically work and are you getting 4g?

Make sure you have the correct APN settings and have fun. HSPA+ only I believe.
Any trick to getting the stock SIM out other than resorting to tweezers? It's a tight fit in there.
I used a pencil eraser.
I am planning to buy my friends LG G3 from verizon which he has activated on verizon and is been using it for a week or so. Do I need to unlock that phone to use it with my AT&T sim card? Will it be able to access 4G LTE?

You can pop in your SIM, set the correct APNs and it will work fine on AT&T. Some people report they have LTE if AT&T uses band 4 in your area, otherwise you will HSPA/HSPA+
Here is a link for the correct APNs: http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB424489&cv=820#fbid=ujA3THHGA0a
no 4g lte?
I tried the AT&T sim with the apn settings, but only getting H ? Not getting 4G or 4G LTE speed. Please help me out here.

Are you saying this because it shows "H" on that status bar or you ran a speed test and the speeds are that of h and not HSPA+ ?
With the correct APN settings the VS985 will get 4gLTE on both T-Mobile or AT&T (AIO/Cricket too), but only if they are using band4 in your area. Otherwise, H, H+, EDGE, whatever else is available works fine. Remember to reboot after settings things up.

I have the VZW S4 variant on OF1. I rooted and at first, had access to the Signal app, but now, however, I do not. Even with that app, changing it to GSM only gave me 3g but with NO DATA. So, calls and texts worked, but I got NO DATA.
My problem now is trying to figure out how to get data working under GSM.. and how to make the signal app work again. Like I said though; even when I used that app -- no data.
Help please.
The thread below may help. Can you provide a little detail on your steps to root, ROM, and data info i.e. APN, network settings, Signal App Status info, etc.
Here you go:
forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/help/galaxy-s4-i545-verizon-outbound-text-t3186668
Rooted with Mobile Gogo. ROM is stock. APN network settings are T-Mobile's. Signal App won't let me do anything, as I've said. It's locked.
Also ---
When I /COULD/ use the Signal app, and change it, on 3g and HSPA+ I got TEXT but NO DATA.
This is my problem./
@DMiller92 your problem is super simple. T-mobile is gsm, it uses a different kind of technology than verizon which is a cdma network. I've never heard of a verizon branded phone being able to switch to a gsm network. If it's not impossible its at the very least much harder than you realize. Phones do exist that are built specifically to be able to use either network, but a verizon branded device will never be one. Your limited to switching to other cdma networks eg sprint

Not exactly. There are lots of people that got it "sort of working" verizon i545 is a "global phone" in the sense that in countries outside of the US it is made to connect to 4g gsm lte networks as cdma is being depreciated in countries like mexico and canada. Meaning you need to use the 4g apns if the service is available in your area. Non 4g vzw devices dont work in many parts of mexico and canada, or do not work well anymore for this reason. It does not have hardware meant to pick up standard gsm 3g networks.
Tl;dr use 4g apn settings.
Try this: Name : T-Mobile LTE
APN: fast.tmobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260

That sounds like a rom issue. If you're lucky enough to have an unlocked bootloader your best bet would be to just flash a tmobile rom btdubs. Try heading to stang5litres rom and flashing the vzwwififix.zip. make sure to wipe dalvik and cache

You will also need to change the smsc number to +12063130004 and change network mode to gsm(auto).
I did this with an app called advance signal status, you will need your su binary at 2.49 or higher. I'm now fully functional on tmobile. The files needed are inlink below

You are totally wrong. The i545, in addition to LTE Band 4 (T-Mo's primary one), has WCDMA/HSPA radio capability on PCS (1900mhz), which is now T-Mo's primary 3G band, as well as 850mhz (AT&T), 900mhz (other countries), and 2100mhz (other countries).
@tengtengvn thanks for reiterating that. I was going off the outlines listed on Verizon's CDMA retirment FAQ page which lines up with what I said outside of device specifics.
