It it possible to somehow recover deleted photos? My little sister deleted all the pictures from my phone (which were in the folder DCIM, in the internal 16gb storage).
If they were stored in an 'accessible' part of the phone that you'd normally be able to access when you connect your phone to your PC via USB, maybe(tho unlikely). Get Recuva (Google it) & try that. There are also recovery apps on Google Play you could try (can't vouch for them working/not working; never used them).
Backups are your friend.
I know it's not useful now, but you should use Dropbox and the automated upload feature.

1. connect your phone to PC via USB.. make sure your internal SD partition have been read by your computer..
2. if you were using Windows, I suggest you use GetDataBack (FAT)..

It is possible if the partition can be mounted as a ums device, but the recovery attempt should be made as soon as possible or most of it will be corrupt or unrecoverable, the more the partition is used the more the deleted data will get corrupted.

If you have backup, please turn to your backup immediately, all deleted pictures are here. Sync your Samsung data to backup is a good habit for us when we deleted Samsung data by accident.
But when we no have backup, you have another choice to recover deleted Samsung photos-Eelphone Samsung Photo Recovery, which can scan your Samsung directly, and you can recover from SD card. with USB debugging in your Samsung, you can recover all detected Samsung data.

Hello ,so i have samsung galaxy s2 with miui jb rom..
i connected an pendrive through usb otg cable but when mounted it shows it is corrupted and need to be formatted.
so i confirmed this operation and it starts to format..

Yes solution is simple.
Go back in time.
Backup data like any sane person would have done.
If your files were that important why didnt you do simple things like make backups to your PC or even just via dropbox app that automatically uploads photo's via wifi?
Try a partition recovery software.
If you cant fix I have no sympathy since its easy to make backups of needed data. No excuse really.

As I said earlier try a partition recovery software.

Follow XDA rule #1 and use search. We have many topics about users formatting cards and then needing to recover data. This is a non-device specific topic so search whole site or even google.

- Connect your phone trough USB cable and activate mass storage mode
- Depending on what files are lost (probably photos and videos), look for format recover software (Like recovery my files)
- Use it on mounted SD card
PS:
If you have used some part of your internal sd card after formatting, you probably lost some files forever, if you haven't yet, DON'T USE IT BEFORE RECOVERY !!

Give some app suggestions is fine. Once we have those, we know the key terms to search for.
I've tried cg-security apps, they're made for Windows/Linux/BSD etc, but won't install on android.
I tried aidfile installed on Windows but it won't detect the phone internal storage either.
I have all my photos.
I lost a database document that is 760mb. Most backupsoftware (Skydrive, Asus Webstorage, DropBox etc) won't upload it.
I sent the phone for warranty and they formatted my phone, and lost that document. I just need that back. It is in internal storage, there is no sd card on this android.
Try Recuva but don't get your hopes up. Not likely to work. If they've formatted the phone, it's gone. Android isn't like Windoze where 'files aren't really deleted'.
Edit - Also, beware of some (all ?) of the 'data recovery' apps on Google Play. Many (certainly the several I've tried) of the non-paid versions will go through their process of checking, and tell you that your file can be recovered, but you need to get the paid version of the app. You pay for the app, and then find they tell you the file recovers OK (funny about that, right ?) but is 'corrupted' (which is basically bull****, the file can't be recovered at all, but you paid for the app so they have to give you something, right ?) & useless. This scenario is highly likely in the case of a file like the one you're talking about if you do get suckered in by those apps.

So a while back my phone died (it will die again). Some sectors got corrupted from a drop, which took me to the boot loop stage. My device was rooted, but I highly doubt this was related.
Before re-partitioning the device, I was able to enter into CWM's recovery mode and create a back up. I was happy to know my device was backed up on the extSDcard.
When I restored the backup, everything was restored except the pictures (All gallery pics). As soon as the phone booted, it would show empty folders as if the pics are loading, but then they would disappear. So basically I can not access my pictures.
How can I extract these pictures from the CWM recovery files on my computer desktop now? I have boot.img, recovery.img, cache.ext4, data.ext4, system.ext4, nandroid.md5.
Can someone tell me where the pictures would be? Please help. I have searched quite a lot and couldn't find solutions. The solution using unyaffs did not work for me. What do you all reco?

basically, you have lost your pictures unless they are backuped somewhere online (Google+, Facebook, Dropbox)
Thanks for the responses guys. I basically did a backup on my laptop a month before the crash. So my phone has lost one month worth of data. It's fine. I can deal with it. All pics will be saved on the extSD from now on. Lesson learnt!

Something strange has just happened
My phone was connected to my PC. I was browsing on both internal and external SD cards and then it stopped detecting the device. I reset both phone and PC and now MOST of my files have dissipated! Music, Photos gone!
The strange thing is that the slimbean.zip and gapps.zip are still on the card along with
clockworkmod, data, lost.dir and whatsapp folders.
Is it possible to get my stuff back?

How long have you been on slimbean? Are you aware of the 4.2 /sdcard location change as per the link in my signature? Not saying this is teh answer, but if you have only just flashed 4.2, you should read it.

Have a look through LOST.dir see if anything is there. If the files truly are deleted, theres not really much you can do now. There are various android apps that claim they can recover files but you have to pay and I don't believe that any of them will actually work (may be wrong there though).
You cannot get anything back from an internal card on your computer either as there's no mass storage mode, so PC apps cannot scan it.
All I can do is recommend advice for the future.
Install FolderSync and sync important stuff to the cloud or better yet, a computer on your home network that is "always on".

So I tried to use a small usb adapt with sd in windows and explorer could not show the memory properly to access it and then I realize if I format in android I could then recovery the files in windows after.
I formated to use to share files betwen pc and android, now I tried Ease, Recuva and some others recovery softwares and all of them cant show my old files even with deep scan and using the original microsd-to-sd adaptator. Tried some store apps too, they dont even run in my android.
I did not write upside the files I had but android automatically put a lot of folders inside, no one with much amount of files.
So now I ask, can a diferent software or trick take my old files back? this micro sd is old, I had important files from 2010 there. :crying:

Recovery will depend on if you encrypted the SD or not. If the SD was previously encrypted you will not be able to recover any of the files. That is kind of the point of encryption.
If you did not encrypt the SD and Recuvva failed you may still be able to recover some of the files. I had a similar issue where I knew the deleted files were on the drive and while Recuvva managed to pull a few it was not finding the one that I really needed. This lead me to looking for other recovery programs online. I Googled "apps similar to recuvva". I found a site with 10 programs like recuvva and I found one in that list that worked. I did have to try 3 or 4 to find that one but it not only found the file I needed but it found about a dozen more that I didn't even know I was missing. I would tell you which program it was but I don't remember and I uninstalled it after using it.

While I have your ear, backup backup backup… I really can't say it enough. I hate to see people on here who've lost memories or important docs because they didn't back them up. Google provides so many ways to backup all for free. Google Drive will backup your docs and files, Google Photos will backup your photos and videos, Gmail Contacts will backup your contacts. Many carriers also provide backup options. Verizon Cloud will essentially backup your device similarly to iTunes. It doesn't backup your game progress and all of that, I think iTunes does, but it will backup your texts, files, settings, contacts and photos.

IMHO it mainly depends on Android SD card's filing system whether there is a chance to recover data after having formatted it. For an Android device, the compatible file system of external storage is FAT32 or exFAT.
To unformat the SD card in Android phone to get back the deleted files, I suggest you to try iBeesoft Data Recovery. It is designed for users to unformat SD card on Android phone specially.

So I was using my S23 ultra for camera and video purposes. It had no sim card.
Today i decided to get a sim card for it and use it as a phone finally.
Installing the sim card, It factory reset the phone, I wasnt aware it would do this...and it walked me through the setup the phone stuff.
I dont know if there is any way i can still recover all my pics and videos....the rest of stuff i can live without.
I did find an app called Droidkit which sounded promising but it was unable to ROOT the phone to do a deep scan....i assume cause the S23 is a Canada version.
Which basically brought me here to see if there was a way to ROOT this phone or if there was any other way to try to recover my photos and videos.
I hadnt done any type of backup nor used google photos etc.
I had planned to back everything up when i got home before installing the sim card, but when i bought it, the girl insisted she had to install it herself and make sure it was activated.

I have never seen factory reset delete user data on internal simcard.
On samsung phones.
(unless specificaly requested to do so from recovery)
open file manager and browse around , very good chance your stuff is still there.
if it was really reformatted (almost always a quick format) which can allow file recovery,
(stop using phone as much as possible so not to overwrite the the sectors on internal sd)
Back up and restore data or files on your Galaxy device

First time ever i heard that when installing simcard phone goes to factory reset... I change them a lot also esim and no issue like factory reset...

When Samsung had an sdcard you were able to store images and videos on your sdcard so that when you did a FDR you didn't lose your images or videos. Sorry to say that US and Canadian S23 Ultra's can't be bootloader unlocked at this time so no root for now. You can go to settings>Backup and Restore and see if by chance they were backed up, mine are backed up every so often automatically.

The only possible way is by physically removing emmc and then recovering using UFI tool box.
I don't recommend doing it for yourself as it has to be performed by trained professional.

didnt have any luck....if the phone was rootable, its possible i could have recovered some i guess.
fortunately it was only a couple months i had the phone....but i still took hundreds of pics n vids in that short time.
lesson learned...backup my shizzle.
i managed to salvage a few bits from messenger of stuff i had sent people.

did you use the file browser on the phone to check standard locations
(not the gallery browser, but actual file browser)
of the internal sd card
/sdcard/ (DCMI,Movies,Pictures)
even storage manager under settings should differentiate between
internal and external sd cards , even if external was formated to be used as internal.
(browse that and see how much space is used up by various things in internal-sd)
as i and others think, that you are just looking at external sd card only for some reason.
and internal sd should still be there with original content , unless purposefully erased
( factory reset should leave that allone )
