Hi!
I have a Galaxy Note 2, using instructions on the Web I
got Odin3 1.85 as well as CF-Auto-Root-t0lte-t0ltexx-gtn7105
and rooted my Note 2 (N7105)
Now I want to use this mod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961314
but I have no idea what "LJA/LJ7/LJ3/LJ4 etc" means so I anyway downloaded "N7105.deodex.LJ4" as it seems be the only one with my model number (please confirm if that is correct) now looking into the zip file I see I have "META-INF" and "system", what do I do with these files to "install" this mod?
Thanks in advance!
to "install" this mod , flash the file you have using odin.. (i'm assuming you know how to do so..)
But you need to have you phone deodex for the mod to work

Where did you place the Meta-INF files? I know system files goto system/framework but I cant find where Meta-INF files go. I'm using a root file manager.

1. Download one of the decrypted Roms in this forum mainly the RB001 for X10i.
http://hotfile.com/dl/47479718/71300...1_DEK.rar.html In particluar.
2. Extract the zip file and then the two zip files within the folder contained into the phone and ROM folder.
3. Replace all sin files contained within the root step 1 folder EXCLUDING SYSTEM.SIN and LOADER.SIN. put in the preset.TA file. (NOTE To use the R2 Baseband Copy and overwrite files into phone folder from Step 1 and then Step 3 of ROOT! and then follow Step 4 below)
4. Re-zip PHONE Folder.
5. Copy SYSTEM.SIN into the ROM folder and replace the system_S1-SW-LIVE-AC12-0001-S1-PARTITION-WITH-SPARE.sin and rename the file to that name (Or Equivalent).
6. Re-zip ROM Folder.
7. Open Omnius and Follow Instructions.
(Omnius is quite simple just download the zip file extract the program and then load it up, once open choose the device X10 and then press the flash tab, choose the phone zip file for first drop down and the choose the rom zip file for the second drop down press ok and follow Omnius instructions on screen.)
8. Compete Step 2 and then 4 of Root to complete

Good job man... I guess this avoids all the DeviceID finding business
So, what about step 3 in Bin4ry's tutorial? can it be done by Omnius as well?
Is this exclusive to X10i? What happens with timescape/mediascape? Anyway to keep both of them as some people are reporting to have?

To be honest i only have X10i so i couldn't say if it works or not on X10a or developer boards, Timescape is fine and Mediascape works well so far.

Yes as the root interacts with the firmware not the hardware. as far as i a aware though future solutions are imminent.
Can one use the R2BA020 and still achive root?
by missing out step 3 you are leaving your x10 on the slower older baseband
What is the situation of the phone? is every thing still there? TS and MS?
Thanks

I have retried and it works every time.
i've tried the first root guid posted by bynary but i think something in step 4 gone wrogn since i dont have root. can i try this guide with omnius now or i have to repeat the other?
worked when i used the method before the edit.
now when i try it using the new 'phone.zip' it boots up , i enter debugging , i run step2.xxx and select option 6 , yellow exclamation triangle
I'm a noob but i can usally grasp technology pretty easy . I'm trying to flash my phone but when i try to choose the file from the firmware (yes its in there i checked) its not there at first i just chose the folder flowed the instructions to see if it worked anyway but it didnt work. i tried both flash tool FlashTool version 0.2.9.1 and FlashTool version 0.2.8 but none worked (they were both the same i think) im using vista if that helps. Help please
First things first you're using Vista... Thats always a problem LOL... sorry =)
No, it shouldn't be...
You should just be able to select the folder that the file is placed in and it should come up on Flash Tool...
Let me ask... in the folder is it one file or a group of files??
i just put the rar file in there and unpacked it there

What files did you get out of the extracted RAR?
MD5,X10a_1.0_2_1_A_0_435 one text one ftf
Have you put all files in the firmwares folder of x10flashtool?
yeah i have
So you can see the files when you press FLASH in flashtool, and then select the file you want to flash? Where does it fail? Explain better.
i click on flash the i click on the 3 little dots to choose a folder it says the folder is empty. I can only see the file it i go in my download where i have my flash tool folder
That shouldnt be necessary, if you have the tft file in the firmwares folder it should come up directly when you click flash. Dont know what could be wrong! :s You have extracted flashtool right? And the firmware files..
yeah......
also i dont know if this will help but the only click-able buttons are flash donate and save log. The others are just there

Make sure you see "System" and "META-INF" when you open the zip(these should NOT be in sub folder)
Make sure the zip is correct, and is indeed for your firmware
open the zip with winzip and check there should not be a sub folder
if you find one then try to extract it using any archive tool like winrar
Make sure you see "System" and "META-INF" when you open the zip(these should NOT be in sub folder)
Does flashing APBOOT file of appropriate firmware using Odin work?
Hello, can anyone extract this widget and send it to me by email? I removed it accidentally but I don't wanna re flash whole system and loose all my settings because of that. I suppose it should be apk and odex files. They can be found in one system directory. Please pm me for email. Thanks

Why don't you open the flashable zip of your rom? Then you can extract it yourself
How to do that? What ROM?

Download a 2.3.6 rom flashable zip file. Open it and go to system/app extract the file and copy it to your phone. Install it and your done.
If you want to install a system app then you need to be rooted. So i thought you already had a flashable zip file.
I got my firmware downloaded only. It is md5.tar file. Is this what you are talking about or should I download something else?

I didn't install anything, just copied apk file from SD card into system/app directory. Odex file can't be replaced. No matter what error, just tell me if I have to run 7ZIP program, pack both files and then flash via CWM?

You flashed a zip file?
Is the apk file still in system/app? If not just place it there and wipe the caches. Without flashing a file.
BTW I don't know exactly how I make a good flashable zip file. Search and it shouldn't be hard to find and make.

The thing is it is not possible to just copy system files into proper directory because it returns error that it can't be replaced.

I'm not allowed to delete system files as they are in use and any operation is restricted, even while rooted!
Whatever, I flashed my firmware from scratch and f**k it still won't work because I run Go Launcher Ex which is not compatible with stock widget.

Hi.. Can somebody tell me if there is a way to convert flashable zip files to Odin tar.md5 files !!!!
I hav searched and read some related threads but none of them gave a conclusive answer for the question. Some explained how to convert .img files to tar files & some explained creating tar files by using 7zip (actually 7zip only create a file with .tar extension) but my question is how to convert zip files which don't have image files like for example if i wanted to flash some apps ported from other devices (camera, gallery, keyboard etc...) and i don't want to flash them through Recovery (I don't hav one) then HOW???
Technically speaking, you'd need to create an image of the partition containing content from your .zip folder (with proper permissions and stuff created by updater-script) and then you should pack it as system.img into .tar.md5 file.
The questions is WHY you want to do this, it's NOT common and there's absolutely no point in doing that.
Question is why no recovery

Well, consider installing a corresponding CWM :good:

I don't want to install a Recovery as it increases Binary count every time v boot the device. I personally don't like to increase my count. Every time i enter into Recovery to flash a zip file it will trigger the count. I know Triangle away can make the count zero but then i have to use it every time after using Recovery & I don't want to go through all that hassle.
Why i don't like an increase in count.... It's more like OCD
So, is there any easy n simple method to convert files !!! Am not much of a Android student. It's like am at Kindergarten level at Android University
